The Last of Us Part II announced

*first sees the Uncharted DLC thread*

Oh that's cool I guess, a Chloe scenario--HOLY CRAP THE LAST OF US 2.

Let's go Ellie, gonna wreck some dudes.

My guess as to what the plot is after watching that amazing trailer:
The fireflies were lying the whole time and Ellie is going after them while Joel doesn't see the point. He nonetheless chases after her to keep her out of trouble and alive.

People are going to be in for a shock when they remember they can't swing across chasms with ropes and climb up waterfalls in TLOU and instead have to deal with God awful enemy design to top it off.

Like UC4 was finally an Uncharted game with great gunplay, cool level design and no bullet sponges and TLOU 2 is coming here to fuck things up again. Boy oh boy can't wait to toss my rope and platforming skills in for crouch walking and hilarious bullet sponges!

Who knows, maybe Naughty Dog will surprise me and create a zombie game with actually engaging zombie enemies this time. Or maybe they'll double down on brain dead puzzles like the first game and terrible pacing like UC4 and Left Behind. Who knows!

I'd love to see ND go more in depth on tech like they did in the Death Stranding panel.

I can't imagine they'd go the head-Joel route, but I'd be surprised if he's still kicking by the end.

Hmmmm, facial capture tech looking good on the digital doubles but they have to do a good amount of work on the in-game models, that retargeting tech is gonna take a lot of time. Very glad they're implementing this tech from the start of the project though.

Joel is dead.

Ellie is hunting the Fireflies because they killed him (in retaliation for what happened in TLOU).

She's singing because Joel used to sing to her and music was a thing between them.

Quote me on it.

You dont think that maybe even at one point she finds out about it and hold a bit of a grudge? Remember the girl Joel killed was her friend and a friend of her moms. I dunno. I think its a possible plot point.

It's apparent in the end, she knows Joel lies. The woman also tried to kill her for the cure without her consent.

Why would you play a game like The Last of Us, and expect shit like rope swinging and platforming?

What? You think people forgot what TLOU played like? Or you didn't know people who enjoyed it while you didnt?

they attack Tommy's community and kill a lot of people looking for ellie.
She want revenge...

Apparently Troy just said that the trailer isn't really in the game, the scene was just shot for the trailer. Unless I misheard.

She's singing to calm her nerves after just being attacked.

"This isn't canon this is just here for tonight." So like the original debut trailer?

Yoooo what?!

Marlene was her moms friend, but Ellie didn't even know her. The first time they met, or at least met to Ellie's knowledge, was in American Dreams (Ellie would've been 13 at the time). And in the scene they meet Ellie pulls a gun on Marlene because she's threatening Riley.

Listen, it doesnt make sense from a gameplay standpoint to have Joel always tagging along with Ellie while she is the PC. First game Joel had to protect her. If he is not dead in this game then he is some stay at home scenario or gets captured or some shit. Or, he could be random hallucinations popping up for story parts, since she will obviously be traveling away from him if he sat put.

I'm not gonna lie, TLOU's combat was only a bit above mediocre. But I never cared because the story and the characters were so damn good. I'd welcome better combat, but I don't care as long as the story stays solid. Honestly, TLOU is the ONLY game that has a story so good that I prioritize it over gameplay.

Good point.

They are confirming that they play alongside each other. No way he is dead.
