Just to add, love that so far, less than 20% of gamers completed the game, and by the time of the review bomb, it was at 0.17% or something. Goes to show triggered kids are to blame for the review bomb. Scores will now improve steadily as people realize some plot points out of context sound bad, but actually work

It could have meant something, we have many counter examples where the angry crowd was right in a way (the games of thrones last few seasons--but that was apolitical, they were just bad + Star-Wars and the last few Star-Trek TV series).. Star-Wars at the very least did not meet expectations, the others were just bad at what they attempted to do. Outrage or not they would have not met expectations, because word of mouth would have been lukewarm at best. Something similar is happening in the comics industry as well, the new generation of comics are horrible, they apparently don't get sales, etc. and the people who make them show contempt for their audience, this is a very bad mix if you want success.
As far as I know, the vast majority of people who play The Last of Us 2 really enjoy it, and I would not be surprised if they recommended it.
At least this mob is not outside attacking our democracy and trying to sneak in a dictatorship in the name in being inclusive and diverse (I don't care much about the peaceful protesters when they cover for people burning down buildings, beating people up, etc.)
I thought his mom was buying the copies for him, you know so this does not look overly suspicious.

Same. I will admit the characters are largely unlikable in comparison to the first game, and a lot of the narrative feels forced but it's still fun to play.
I hope this game is a lesson to developers and publishers that you will never please everyone so just make the game the way you want.

This is great. I'm glad people hating it are in minority. Funny I was one of the haters but in the end, I had to try it myself, and I am so glad that I did. This game makes me love and respect Joel more than ever. Except for a few very minor issues I had with the game, this was a phenomenal experience. Congrats to ND for this huge success.

Well, when you refuse return of copies purchased you don't have to subtract from initial sales numbers or do revisions. On it's own selling 4 million in launch period's quite good but I think there's going to be a very sharp drop in sales from here on. WOM with this game among the casuals and mainstream just isn't there to sustain strong sales.
I can actually see the sales topping out at 5-6 million overall and that's after a few more months on shelves. If they want more after that, they'll need to aggressively discount it and pack it in as a free game with PS4s and PS5s, and that's if Sony cares to do so by then.
