Simple question folks from a PC nerd, I'm absolutely SHIT at manual aiming with a controller. Does this game (and the remastered prequel) have a a full auto aim (not assist) mode?
I don't have the game but judging by what i've seen and by similar games i believe it has a very limited auto-aim. The aim is not supposed to be precise.

Why the fuck NG included this XRay shit when it does nothing but ruins gameplay I do not know.

But without it and on a hardcore is the way to play it.

You could literally take every single game ever made and come up with such an argument. Entire genres like turn-based combat games would be stealing your life away... It´s ok to not like the game. But coming up with weird math examples to make it bad is just strange...

I disagree. There are TONS of games that don't lock the player up in a lengthy animation every time you kill an enemy.

The vast majority actually.

Auto collect resources and ammo is an absolute Godsend. Removes tedium.

Ellie and Joel's space capsule imaginary countdown in the museum got to me, I teared up.
I'm finding the narrative in this to be overall weak (especially compared to the first), at least from what I've played, but I have to admit that was a touching moment in reference to the first game that made me wish it were just Ellie and Joel throughout. That whole sequence felt like them from the original.

That's the point, they lock you into an animation to enforce consideration as to whether you want to make yourself vulnerable to being spotted. Though it's be nice to have three to four different animations instead of just one.

The flow of combat with humans is so much better than the first one. I'll say I wish there were a few more options as far as stealth, but it doesn't detract from the experience at all. The weight of the animations really adds to the overall impact of things as well. Shit is amazing, something I certainly didn't say about the first game.

Hype justified, so far. Let's see how they bring this to a close now.

Feels extremely excessive to me. Actually, it feels like someone at Naughty Dog was like "We have this crazy animation. Let's force our audience to watch it 1,000x". As a lover of stealth games since Metal Gear Solid, I think it was a poor design choice.

Really enjoying it so far.. but kind of thought this would be a smooth locked 60 fps like NG's other games. Feels like 50 fps, just doesn't look or feel right when I'm looking around in game because of the stutters.

Playing on 4k 60 PS4 Pro. Tried messing with the blur options but nothing. It's not game breaking but I do notice it a lot

If TLOU 1 was locked at 30, felt super smooth.

...hospital and chased after Nora. Really intense stuff.

Also fighting the scars was really scary

Yes, just like Uncharted 4 it has an auto aim feature where you lock on enemies, it's in accessibility options i think.

Spent the afternoon exploring downtown Seattle. I... Really enjoyed myself to be honest. The map was just the right size with just the right amount of side areas hidden to discover. A couple of nice little scenes between Ellie & Dina as well. It was good stuff. I like how Naughty Dog have moved in the direction of 'wide-linear' levels. They're very good at it, in my opinion.

Gameplay is tight as well. It is just a refined version of part 1, but it works. So why not. The dodge feels great & I like the options I have when a fight kicks off. Mostly been mixing it up with stun bombs, melee & the shotgun.

Good times today. Hopefully the story picks up as well now.

TLoU2 is also locked at 30 just like Uncharted 4 and TLoU1. The only modern ND game that runs at 60 it's the remaster version of TLoU.

If this is true of course, that's fucking racist. You can shoot zombies of all skin colors and genders in RE2 and RE3 Remake, because it makes perfect sense in the context of a zombie outbreak happening in the US. At least Japanese devs know what "equality" actually means.

So, there are no difficulty trophies?

I love the stealth in this game.... I love the pistol silencers and the bow, taking out everyone and then hunting down the last one or two with a shotgun.

Did anyone have an enemy beg for their life?

Taking out the dog handler and seeing the dog go over to the body and react is a cool detail

The flashbacks for Ellie are very nice, probably my favorite part of the story so far but I am taking my time.
I think If you kill all the enemies but one, the last one begs for their life - I’ve had several do it.

can someone tell me what's going on with multiplayer, are they bolting it on later?
Do correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that it will be a separate release later on - whether a DLC (paid or not) or a separate game I cannot say, but I kinda got the impression it will be the latter. It would be cool as a F2P game I think - while the original Factions had microtransactions, I didn't feel it broke the game too much (admittedly never got into it that much, but many people who were all over it have said the weapons you can buy are not really all that).

I'm 4 hours in. Can't understand all this hatred for the narrative. Like seriously i don't get it

I think the general feel is that it went from being The Road to becoming a CW network type show. An R rated one, but still.

So some quick thoughts after a bit over 8 hours playtime:

- For how violent the game was said to be, really not seeing it yet - I'm sure Bad Things are gonna happen, but so far nothing near as gruesome as say, Lara Croft's many grisly death animations in the modern Tomb Raider games.

- Also not yet seeing any problems with the writing or "character X would never do Y!" complaints - again I have a ways to go and these issues could certainly pop up

- Default difficulty is probably too easy, but I'll stick with it. I find I'm usually topped up on supplies, and with how quickly you can restart an encounter, it's easy to do a quick redo if you fuck something up.

- Not a huge fan of these flashback sequences, as I feel the momentum of the plot has slowed as I explore every nook and cranny in Seattle, and they serve to just kinda slow it down even more.

- I'm probably a terrible person but I love blowing up dogs. So easy with the proximity bombs since you know exactly where they will come along following that dumb "scent trail" - nice knowing you Fido, remember all dogs go to heaven!

Yeah I think it’s good. So far I preferred the stuff after about hour 15 - I was happy enough with the first 15 too but things change gear significantly in the story later.

This game is a work of art. Truly something else. The dismemberment when you shoot a motherfuckers leg off with a shotgun. Man, they really poured their heart into EVERY TINY detail in this shit. Its mindblowing!

When I first saw this man.. ND is living in 2030.

I really wanna know what this is you’re talking about regarding combat. Seeing what I‘ve seen it all looks the same. Can you PM me the details?

Is anyone else having this issue?

I thought Horizon Zero Dawn played really well at 30fps. I enjoyed it so much I'd scoff at the "60fps or bust" crowd. I played Horizon back at launch, and then a second playthrough about six months ago.

But I'm struggling to adjust to the 30fps in TLoU2.

What's the difference?

The story is good if you look at it with an open mind and Ellie and Dina really have good chemistry. The Seattle open world part though is a little too open. The open part of the Lost Legacy was my least favorite part though. I like open worlds but not in a ND game.

SD3. I’ve been enjoying the game mechanics, and it’s nice graphically of course. Would be a lot better with a compelling narrative attached, but so far it’s really falling short on that front.
I think the first half was really nice, I was totally on board with ripping Abby's face off and feeding it to her. Some good ole revenge was super exciting.

(I'm aware of the leak but only mention very early stuff nearly at the beginning of the game)

At least when you start playing as Abby I think her face is pretty cute to be honest. Her design probably looks more weird later when she's not covered up though. Her chest honestly looks so weird. It's clear they didn't wanna give her a standard body cuz reasons....and she definitely has an androgynous look to her.

Honestly what I don't like about her so far is how she just styles on the infected. It has nothing to do with her being a woman, Abby, etc. I just think it looks goofy and minimizes the threat of the infected when she absolutely whups on them.
Gotta say that is already feeling like a goofy, out of place decision. It's like the way Leon or Chris deal with infected and RE had already gone the action route by the time RE4 and 5 rolled around.

She seems OP and I think she's definitely got some Mary Sue stuff going on. If she ragdolls clickers and the like I'll be pretty disappointed.

The stealth, melee combat and gunplay all feel really good in my opinion. The guns in particular sound incredible and the blood/brain spray plus gore sound effect when you land headshots is worryingly addictive.

The foundation gameplay in this game should make for an incredible multiplayer experience. I hope it releases soon.

I’m so torn on whether to buy the game or not. A part of me hopes for a good, branching story, which was the thing I enjoyed most from the original game. Story seems to be the main thing getting complaints in this thread. Graphics and presentation I don’t care about so much. It was good enough in the original game and I’d buy this game with the same presentation in a heartbeat if the story in the game was getting similar praise.
