Wrong.

No matter how you think of it, I AM supporting them by purchasing their product. Your talk about 'charity release' is not relevant here.
It's a simple value proposition, either you believe it's worth purchasing, or you don't. The fact that you bought a previous version lowers this versions perceived value, but it's not on Sony to compensate for that, it's on you as the consumer to account for that in your purchase decision.

You even used the word 'compensation', as if the release has somehow wronged you. If you'd felt TLoU was not worth buying, and felt burnt by the release because of technical issues not present in this version, you might have had a point, but as it stands, you're not due any restitution. If you believe the game's value is lower than the RRP, purchase it when its price reduces to the value you think is fair having already played it on PS3.

MP is sort of good. I usually never bother with MP in this kind of SP games but I played this one more than I should.

Is it uncensored in EU this time btw?

Hellz yeah!

Is the MP really that good? Never tried it on PS3

Multiplayer is secretly the best part of the game. It's beyond just 'good', and if it had a deeper feature suite (in game replays, clan support, competitive rankings, etc.), it would be pretty much perfect in my eyes.

Some of the most fun and intense multiplayer I had the joy of playing in the last few years. Shame that a ton of people completely dismissed/passed it up. I hope TLOU gets a sequel purely in terms of expanding upon the mp.

I'm hoping they're adding more awesome graphical effects now that they're in crunch time. Hopefully we see some uncharted 4 effects incorporated.

If the July 29 release date holds, how long does ND have until this game is pressed to disc?
They have to be really close to submission, but presumably they're crunching on single player bugs, they can keep working on MP until a day one patch needs to be submitted.

I wasn't interested in this game till I watched some Youtube and live streams of multiplayer. I don't care about the singleplayer to be honest. But I'll give it a try anyways on 29th.

As a gamer, I find it unjustifiable for a company to charge a remastered version of a game the same as the original. Especially since ND knew it was going to be released on the PS4 (Perhaps Sony is to blame for that seeing as how much they would benefit.)

Point is, if most shared your view, I foresee a lot more of this 'remastered' versions popping out with the same RP as the original. Which equates to less IP's coming out from the respective devs IMO.

It's $10 less than the PS3 version and includes all the DLC. It's basically a GoTY edition.

Well I guess it's justified then because it's actually $10 cheaper than the original release.

Edit: Beaten. Dang you RoboPlato!

How about you use your brain for a second.

From a pure programming PoV the code from the PS3 can't compile on the PS4, and it specifically written for the Cell. In order to even get it to 60FPS they probably had to rewrite tons of code in the engine, and we know they did this from the crunch they have been under to get it out in time.

If I want The Last of Us on the PS3 I'm going to pay around $30. If I'm going to get it on the PS4 I'm paying $50.

PS4 version is going to have better gameplay and look far better due to high-res textures and much improved IQ. PS4 version is going to have all the DLC, which if you add that on will have the PS3 version at around $60 anyways. Besides, if we go by Sony's estimates 40% of PS4 owners didn't own a PS3, that's a huge market for new comers to the game.

What's wrong with remastered versions coming out? The generation was too long, games were gimpped with seven year old hardware and people want to see this. It doesn't take a whole team to do this, we already know ND has been developing a new engine for UC4, which will most definitely be used when either their new IP or TLoU 2 comes out.

Developers need more time to write their engines and get everything running properly, it's why we aren't seeing anything this year and almost all the games are targeting 2015. Having these "Remasters" are not going to hamper new IP development or sequel development.

There are realistically very few games that could do this. The reason HD Remasters were in collections last generation was because they couldn't sustain a full priced cost.

Firstly you have to consider the current value of TLoU on PS3. This version isn't any more expensive than TLoU on PS3, in fact, right now it's substantially cheaper in the UK. GameStop are selling TLoU Remastered for £30, TLoU is £25 and the season pass £18. A saving of £13 for this greatly enhanced version of the game.

Secondly you have to consider the proximity to the initial release, around a year, when you might get GotY re-releases with the DLC bundled. This happens to have changed platforms, but these re-releases are common place after a year.

Finally the reception of the game and it's new potential audience. TLoU was almost uniformly considered GotY last year, and plenty of PS4 owners didn't own PS3s.

This isn't the first one, Tomb Raider did it, GTA5 will do it, maybe it would be possible to have a couple of other games get away with it, possibly BioShock Infinite, Skyrim maybe, but I don't believe either will personally. Regardless, it will be a handful of titles, because only a handful would be viable.

HD Collections will continue, Gears, Uncharted, Mass Effect, it'll happen, but it was going to anyway.

So if this was simply a GOTY edition with all DLC it'd be fine, but since they upgraded the visuals and ported it then it's horseshit?

What?

for people upset about the $$.

TLOU ps3 $60 + $20 season pass = $80

TLOUPS4 $50 + $0 season pass (all included) = $50

If you don't want it. Don't buy it.

I'm buying it since I missed out on the awesome MP and can't wait for the improved load times, higher resolution and dat 60 fps oooo baby

Oh, well if this is your opinion AS A GAMER then by all means you are entitled to dictate the retail price for this product.

If your nightmare future becomes a reality, then everyone is free to buy when the price matches their subjective valuation of the product, just the same as it is now in our nightmare present. It's also silly to worry that talented devs are going to be coerced into endlessly remastering their own work instead of those projects being outsourced. ND is working on this particular project because it's helping them get a handle on the PS4. It's doing double duty and will ultimately benefit all us GAMERS.

So in terms of remakes which is going to be more visually impressive
TR:DE or TLOU?
It depends on what you find more impressive. TLoU should be a far more consistent visual experience, but it's going to lack the same kind of base visual leap TR had.

TR really should have dropped the hair, it's an obscene performance hog.

In terms of character modelsTLOU because they are using the pre-rendered models for gameplay. The new lara croft face didn't even look that much better imo, the only thing that i liked was the tressfx effect that was implemented.

I'm just waiting for Naughty Dog to officially come out and state that the game is running at 60 FPS. It might be almost confirmed with all of these vague, and some blatant, tweets, but it just isn't official.

Either way, I'm excited.

The game runs at 60fps in the sense that it's where it should mostly stay, there's no doubt about it.

The only question is how consistent the framerate actually is.

I guess I don't have an understanding of what technological aspects of the game have been added in the remaster outside of just 1080P 60fps.
Higher resolution character models
Improved shadows and lighting
Upgraded textures

The small snippets I have seen just don't seem like a drastic improvement over what was already a great looking game on the PS3

They really haven't talked in any real detail about any changes. They've said an improved lighting model, the trailer shows a notable improvement in the explosion effects, it could really be little things like that. TR had a wealth of upgrades by way of moving the PC DX11 effects over, but it performs very inconsistently, I expect TLoU to provide a much smoother general experience, and it will probably look crisper, at which point, it really just comes down to what impresses you more. TR was a pretty amazing looking game on PS4, the best outside of Sony's exclusives so far I think.

They censored the gore in MP. Decapitations, severed limbs, and guts spilling out only appear in the uncensored version of the game.

I can't imagine they would release it like that especially after promising 60fps for Uncharted 4 (which is visually much more complex).

But it's still a goal post and not a bullet point a month from launch is why I'm saying it. But I'm ready to be blown away.

How was the lag on ps3 version? I didn't see much from what I could tell in streams and youtube videos for multiplayer. Are you guys ok with no dedicated servers on PS4? I mean Next gen should give us better options correct?

I was fairly impressed with TR on PS4; the IQ was very clean. I also thought the character model looked pretty damn good.
