'The Last of Us: Remastered' coming to PS4, July 2014, [1080p, targeting 60 fps]

How was the lag on ps3 version? I didn't see much from what I could tell in streams and youtube videos for multiplayer. Are you guys ok with no dedicated servers on PS4? I mean Next gen should give us better options correct?

I live in Brazil with a 4megabit internet connection, I first played the game around december, the multiplayer didn't have any issues, i didn't disconnect, and the lag wasn't noticeable for me. All naughty dog multiplayers were great in general performance for me, so i figure that the next gen version will be great too =)

I really wish on ps4 they gave us OPTIONAL regional matchmaking, constantly playing against south america/asia players with 1/2 bars while being from europe its not a nice experience

I think good implementation is the key here.

I already faced lag and bad multiplayer with dedicated servers... to be fair most servers in US (I live in Brazil) give me trouble sometimes but with P2P I just have issue when I play with US or EU guys... if I play with Brazilians only it is a really good experience (some cases better than dedicated).

So if you have local dedicated servers then it is better but if not I prefer P2P.

TLUS MP was really solid for me... no lag or issue at all even playing with US users... better than U2 MP in terms of performance.

4mb is more than enough for the PS4 but what people need to worry about is anyone else on the network watching HD porn or netflix.

Thanks man, damn I remember this being mentioned before and my MP plays where fun but that kicks me.... I HATE censorship and I am now thinking I may get this from the US store do I need to create a US address with that web site stuff to use my Credit card or can I just pay via PayPal?
You can try buying a $50 code off Amazon using a US billing address. They don't check the address so it should go through with your card.

Also make sure you use a tax free state like Oregon on your fake billing address so you don't get charged tax. Do the same for your US PSN account.

Going to be the first time I play through this since I never picked it up on PS3, placed an order with Gamestop but now not sure whether to go through the US PS store route instead for the uncensored version. Annoying given I would prefer a boxed copy really.

I really hope this is it for ND, they're indoctrinated in that 60 fluidity and won't be compromising on that in the future.

It's odd, they've had whole generations of one or the other, all the PS1 era was 30, all the PS2 era was 60, all the PS3 era was 30, so far the two announced PS4 titles are 60.

I wish I can play this for the first time again. How can one obtain amnesia?

I heard multiplayer kind of felt like Gears 1? Is that true at all

Its slower than gears and running in would get you killed 9 out of 10 times from what I saw in videos. But I would say that all the videos I watch something about it reminds me of gears a bit. I haven't played it but I have been studying its multiplayer in anticipation.

I'm really curious to find out who is behind the current push for 60 at ND and how it came about. There were a few people who sound like they needed convincing but the whole studio seems completely on board now.

Can't wait to see what this game is that won the hearts of many.

Just need to contact Best Buy about the price drop since I pre-ordered it when it was $60

There are two things apart from graphics that I hope they're keeping secret:

a/ We know they are using better AI but I'm also hoping they change the patrolling pathways of enemies and make them far more complex or convoluted. Once you're spotted things completely change, but from a stealth point of view, I'd really like to be surprised.

b/ More enemies in certain areas. Not too many more and not in 'all' areas. I can think of at least three areas that could take another three or four extra enemies without changing much at all.

One more wishful thought: A couple of new areas. Between leaving the subway and entering the small forested area springs to mind immediately.

I don't think any of that is happening. They've been clear with us that they're intending to transfer the whole game exactly as it was on PS3 - which means no AI changes, no encounter reworks, and no new areas.

Do we? I haven't heard them say anything about improving AI for the remaster.

I don't think they are going to do any of those things in the end. Druckmann said he didn't want to tamper with the original saying he would leave in all the difficulty spikes and whatnot
citing the encounter with the clickers and runners in the collapsed building

Probably different staff. They changed a lot from PS2 to PS4. Not to mention that they had to sacrifice that framerate due the PS3's radical change of architecture.

Druckmann has specifically said they won't be changing anything. He even specifically mentioned what happened when Lucus "Remastered" the original movies and how that was a bad idea.

It's a bit of a slippery slope. What happens if you change the AI enough where previous encounters no longer function like they used to? What happens when you completely re-write other encounters? Feature creep is real, and it's wise to not fuck around with the game of the generation.

They'd have to be very careful, I realise that but there are (like I said) a couple of locations that wouldn't effect the spike in difficulty but rather your need to be more careful:

The darkened area where you get your first Molotov, and the area just before the hospital that has three bloaters in it. This would make the difficulty spikes slightly harder but it wouldn't change the shape of the game.

Sounds like they hit a breakthough.

The way they talking this bodes well for UC4 I think.
I feel like they must have gotten something major like adaptive tessellation or real time global illumination at a rock solid 60 with some of the comments lately.

Dear Naughty Dog,

Do what you just did to the engine and please port Uncharted Trilogy. God knows it'll be great for Uncharted 4, and it'll give me something to play with while I wait for Uncharted 4. Seriously, I want to play that series in 1080p/60fps! That cinematic 24fps is jarring.

Surprised they're not countering Halo ports with Uncharted ports.

I'm guessing the main reason ND is doing this Remaster in house is so they can get proper documentation prepared for other studios doing PS3 to PS4 ports.
