Good morning, Rap. I have leveled a Warlock and a Titan up to 8 at this point. I would much rather be playing this though!

EDIT: Sorry for the regular double posts too. I am working on it but I get excited to reply to a new post, lol. Y'all love my sexy face anyways. :p

Bad? That looks amazing for a PS3 game.

The PS4 shots show something clearly not possible next gen, at even 30fps let alone 60.

thats true when i was playing on ps3 it was awesome!

but yeah seeing the ps3 version like this next to the ps4 version does put it in perspective for me.

This is amazing.

It's the feeling I have when I think of TLoU combat and Sharefactory.

I thought the ps3 version was amazing at the time but this game has always needed to be seen in motion. These static screens do it no justice IMO.

thats why i was so shocked when i saw the two versions flashing back and forth.

I think I have allot of nostalgia for PS3 TLOU

Part of the reason I think some people aren't impressed with the Remaster is because it looks like how people remember TLoU looking even though it's not accurate. Boot it up on your TV and there are some spots that look rough, particularly if there's lots of water and vegetation.

Same as OoT3D. Some people thought it was not an upgrade at all, but they were misremembering.

OoT3D looked like the OoT we all imagined we played. Not the actual game we played.

I think this is the case.

This is so true! In fact in the part where this ps3/ps4 gif above was taken I remember a pretty serious glitch that occurred on my very first play through. If I recall correctly the music cut out completely and building textures weren't loading right. It really took me out of the game and I was worried it would continue but that was the only time I remember it being so major. It was really unfortunate too because its right at the beginning of the game and they are trying to set the mood and tone for the world.

This game pushed the ps3 right up to its limits and beyond on occasion. It will be fantastic to experience this on a system that can actually handle it properly!

From what I have seen of the PS3 version it did look incredible

I'm sure when the PS4 version comes out people will be happy though.

The PS3 version did look incredible, but it was painfully obvious which parts of the game were being held back by the ancient PS3 hardware. Things like textures being flat and low res (like GTA 5's mountains), jaggy 720p resolution, lower fidelity character models in-game compared to cut-scenes, blocky shadows, lack of texture filtering, poor LOD, sub-30 framerate, etc etc. All of which has now been fixed with the remaster :D

This remaster is basically the game they would have put out on the PS3, if the PS3 wasn't an old fossil. Lol.

i prefer the soft look of the ps3 version. the ps4 version is too detailed and is missing fxaa

They should just rename the PS3 version the "Peasant edition" lol

Yeah you know, casually like that lols.

Hoje0308 will send you an invite too so we can make a firefight group going on some of this days.

I'll be on this weekend and mornings during the week. Was hoping to play tomorrow night, but the damn thing is down. I'm GMT -5 and am on most mornings from 7 AM until about 10 AM. On weekends it's anytime between 7 PM and 10 AM.

I've felt that a lot after my upping to the PS4. With greater rez comes greater need for aa, everything is stinging me as too crisp right now. I like that 'mellowness' of the PS3 version, but I'll take the finer textures and much improved lighting.

I really want to see how much work has been done on the MP side with the maps..

Human memory has the best anti-aliasing.

Also right now we're nit-picking screenshots on monitors 2 feet away which is a lot less favorable for the game than 10 feet away on a TV.

It's actually literally the opposite of that. The higher the resolution, the smaller the aliasing artifacts/stairstepping between pixels, and therefore the less perceivable they are.

This is so true. I for the life of me can never remember games with the aliasing they had. Hell, I remember Halo 3 and its aliasing issues (that annoyed me at the time as much as I loved the game) and yet I never remember the game graphically like that.

Can someone explain the whole 'cut scene character models are the ones used in the game'. Is that accurate?

In the PS3 version of the game, cutscenes used higher fidelity models, with more polygons and higher res textures. The PS4 version of the game uses these higher fidelity models during gameplay as well.

I'm sure this has been asked a million times, but do we know when we'll be able to start downloading this from the PSN store if we have it pre-ordered?

I know it doesn't support preloading but I'm curious as to whether we can start downloading at midnight or if we'll have to wait until the store refreshes mid-day.

it's usually "midnight" PST or EST depending on the game. I put midnight in quotes because it usually ends up being 12:30 or closer to 1

Is that the case?! My I love Gaf, a world of gurus and peddlers. ;)

So why is it that higher resolutions feel too sharp, as if everything has been outlined? I think I enjoyed the muddy haze too long..

I am sure it will be midnight but whether it is Eastern or Pacific time I am unsure. I think most of Sony's first party releases have been midnight PST. IIRC it was that way for TLOU on ps3 last year.

I'm thinking about swinging by walmart during my lunch hour to see if I can snag a copy early

I doubt it =(

It means that according to ND, the character models will have the same fidelity as the pre-rendered cutscene ones like this one:

Instead of the ps3 character models here:

You should be able to easily tell when you use the photo mode, or zoom in to the character in the game.
