60 bucks....

Thank you SO much for rewarding my purchase of the full game + left behind with an immediate upgraded re-release of the same game that will cost me full price again to enjoy...that's so very swell of you to do, ND.

or you can enjoy what you paid for and not buy the remastered version...

glad to finally hear this. I played about 30 minutes of the PS3 version and quit because of the frame rate. Can't wait to see a Naughty Dog game in 1080p60.

Lord this crap annoys me just as much as people bitching about a console dropping in price months after they bought the day one edition.

Oh no, people not as excited as you for this thing better keep their mouth shut and just be quiet about it and don't say anything.

Get over yourself.

Good for you folks excited for this. Well... for me personally if at some point I am getting this I will not buy it at full price, most likely.

You were rewarded for your purchase of the game by getting a copy of the game. This is how purchases work. Naughty Dog/Sony has absolutely no obligation, morally or financially, to anyone to do anything special for previous owners, and if they do it should be considered a nice bonus, not expected behavior.

What's the most sold Sony game of all time?

Wonder of TLoU will be bumping up against it with this rerelease. Sony's captured a lot of 360 users and plenty of us see the value for a double dip here.

It probably has a good run to be their all time #1 in sales for a single game.

Hey, thank you!

I now have the perfect quote to post when someone brings up "entitlement" in other threads.

Not everyone needs to buy this at full price. As always, buy for whatever price you think is right.

For many people, good remaster with all DLCs will be appealing even with full price.

You were rewarded with the game and Left Behind. You bought a product and you got it.

Sure, if that's make you happy.

Geez some of you are so easily ticked off by anyone not feeling the same as you with this, huh. Just ignore my opinion on the matter and move on if that bothers you that much.

I think it's GT3 which is at about 15 million. TLOU is at about 6 million as of March 2014.

Lame. Lots of us spent lots of money on the PS3 digital version. Even if there's a fee there should be an upgrade path.
Some of us even spent $60 on the PS3 digital version only to have their PS3 die after playing the game for about 30 minutes and then having Sony say, 'Sorry, all sales are final.'

It sucked, but I'm grabbing this too -- I can't resist. It's going to be like an all-new game for me so hopefully it'll feel worth $120...

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.

Why buy any game for full price if you feel this way? Most games drop in price months after release....how are they rewarding you then?

$60 spent on digital is better money for Sony than $60 spent on a disc.

We have upgrade pricing on 'remastered' tables for Pinball Arcade.

I think you hit the nail on the head in terms of reasoning why you probably won't see a day-1 upgrade path for TLoU PS3 owners (digital or otherwise).

As for comparisons to Pinball Arcade... I get that there are examples of other games that offer upgrade pricing, but I'd argue that the strength of PA's branding is part of the reasoning behind the offer. The god-tier level of mindshare TLoU swings is such that ND and Sony can offer their product-- remastered or not-- at a premium.

Yeah, people need to think of this as a balancing act to get as much money as you can, and just telling people "fuck you pay $60" isn't going to magically make everyone that'd only be willing to pay $30 or $40 buy in, they'll just wait on a sale or price drop. Maybe they're ok with that and so it's like trying to call someone's bluff, but if enough of those people do go "fuck you" it can be better financially and for consumer good will to offer an upgrade path at the right cost to please most of them while getting you more money.

Honestly when it comes to stuff like this I just say that's the trade-off with wanting something cheaper; you're likely not going to get to play it at the onset like other people. If someone is saying "upgrade price for $30 or no buy", then... cool. They shouldn't buy it until it hits a price point that they are comfortable paying. All this grumbling over a $60 MSRP-- arguably mostly
only
coming from people that own the game already-- seems silly. I see it less as voicing dissatisfaction over pricing and rather upset that they won't be able to play an upgraded version of something (that they likely already own) Day 1 because it fails whatever pricing litmus test they have imposed on themselves.

$60? No thanks.

TLOU is not an old game, and there are definitely costs involved in porting the game and making tweaks for the newer hardware (60fps)

It's not a ps2 -> ps4 port where it's a relatively old game. It took 2-3 years until I saw a retail Skyrim price drop happen.

why are gamers so unresonable with everything?

At best Sony should offer one of those $10 upgrade deals for anyone that wants to double dip, but this remaster is clearly for xbox 360 gamers who skipped ps3 and went straight to ps4

Well, for physical ownership there's really not much to be done, but digital does track this and doesn't really offer a way to get some of the money back otherwise, so it'd be a nice gesture if nothing else, and may well be worth trying to get those people roped in to stay digital than be tempted to go physical due to a sale, plus we are seeing precedent favoring this on Steam and elsewhere. But it's their game and their rules, though I'd consider it more a disappointment than something to be angry with them over. And be glad I only rented and especially didn't buy digitally.

I don't know why people are crying about it be $60. It comes with Left Behind so if you subtract $15, you're paying $45 for the main game and since the PS3 version retails on amazon for $40 you're only paying $5 extra for a version that is on PS4 with 1080p and 60FPS. And the value is better if you compare it to most retail stores like Gamestop where the PS3 vanilla version still sells for $60.

What are the chances this game actually has a thriving online community? That's the only reason id consider buying it again. Really want an online game to play, I'm over battlefield.

In the case of Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, i didn't like the price because there was basically nothing added to the final game except for the graphical upgrade. But Tomb Raider graphics were already great on the PC, and hence, its graphical upgrade wasn't interesting in the same way.

In the case of The Last of Us, we are getting a Remastered port, in-game commentary from devs, $30 worth of DLC, which also includes about 2-3 hours worth of SP DLC. More importantly, the game is exclusive to PS3 and hence there is no PC port here unlike Tomb Raider. I honestly have no issue with the $60 price. If i want to purchase it cheap, i will just wait a while. No one is really forcing me to pick it up Day 1.

It is Day 1 purchase for me anyways

Your "reward" for purchasing the game was the game. You aren't entitled to anything more. It'll only cost you full price to enjoy if you buy it. Is there some reason you are obligated to buy it?

TLOU is not an old game, and there are definitely costs involved in porting the game and making tweaks for the newer hardware (60fps)

Were there costs involved in porting Flower (free upgrade)?

Were there costs involved in remastering Pinball arcade tables (the new lighting is sick awesome)? That's a 50%-off upgrade for previous owners.

Why even post in this thread complaining about it though? Other releases retail releases for recently remastered games were also $60. Guess what? They dropped in price after a month or two. There's plenty of reasons for people to be excited. I haven't played this game yet and look forward to playing the best version of it on a console that provides a much better experience than on the PS3.

It's OK not to purchase it for $60. I probably wouldn't either if I had played it a lot on the PS3. But it's I just find it dumb how many people are venting in all these TLoU threads when they aren't obligated to buy shit.

Nobody cares that you aren't excited. Plenty of people don't want to get the game and those opinions have been respected.
Your stance is just such a ridiculous entitled way of thinking. Sorry man you just don't have a leg to stand on.

ill get to play it on ps4 first :)

but not for 60 bucks i was hoping for 40 bucks

So this is a game you've never played before and your not willing to pay full price for a game that includes $30 worth of DLC. Wow! PS4 is wasted on you.

Anyway, even tho I couldn't muster the effort to play through the game a second time on survival mode, I've decided to double dip anyway as I've not played Left Behind yet or any of the DLC that was released. I guess UK price will be the usual £40 - £50.

This is going to be my showcase title I show everyone when they ask to see my PS4 in action. I had jaws dropping when I showed folks the PS3 version so I can only imagine their reaction to the PS4 port.

Roll on summertime.

Your logical reasoning isn't welcome here.

Note : Watching people go "Oh, Xbox One, $500, thats cool." then whining when someone gets one cheaper a few months later is hilarious to me. Nearly 100% of things drop in price, deal with it.
