Man, I really forgot how much the stealth sections of Uncharted 2 blow.

Game is smooth sailing once you get past that unfortunate section at the beginning, though...

Thankfully the stealth has gotten better with each iteration, but it still kinda sucks in 3.

In 1 it's just laughable trying to "attempt" stealth.

Did you say something?
Yeah, I asked you how you got an early copy.

Well actually three.

I'm not a Gears fan by a longshot, but I always thought the gunplay was very satisfying. It was the epic dudebroness of the characterization and the art design that turned me off, but I understand tha Epic has a certain style and tone to their games, and Gears pulls it off.

So, are we now comparing tje UC, Gears, and TLoU gunplay? Should all games handle similar mechanics exactly the same? I love that Halo feels different than Killzone, despite both being FPSes. I like that,Gears, UC, and TLoU(from what I played in the demo), handle their shooting mechanics in a way that is different from each otber, and within the context of the to e and world theu are trying to convey.

Not everything needs to be a damn cardboard cutout of something else because we found a style of play we enjoy and suddenly want every other game to be just like it, then get up on our soapboxes and rant about the stagnation of unique game design and concepts (see also the TLoU MP reveal thread. If the MP isn't like CoD or BF2, with all of the same game modes, then no dice!

I have no idea what people complain about with that section. It's like 5 minutes long and perfectly playable. Uncharted 3's attempted stealth was much, much worse.

The first time it took me a few times to perfect it with no fuckups, but once I learned it it was smooth sailin. Permanently printed on the brainpiece.

Have any reviews talked about the AI? Like how it compares to the E3 demos? Sure we've seen enemies that search for you and work together but the AI shown then was much more that.

They communicated, they reacted dynamically to the situation, they had self preservation, they seemed human. That dynamic is what impressed me the most.

Has any review talked about this or mentioned how the AI is, beyond that they flank you, hunt you down, etc."

Who fucking started the Gears vs. UC crap?

I bet you thought gears of war 3 and judgement were a masterpiece then.

It took forfuckingever to get myself an avatar quote. Now that this one has done its job, I can change it again!

Uncharted has always sucked. Bad core gameplay, bad writing, whatever. It was great in art and sound, but that's not really all that important in terms of what makes a good game (unless reviews are concerned, in which case, it absolutely does).

In terms of core campaign gameplay, Gears of War 3 is superb, as is Judgement's minicampaign. The regular Judgement campaign is awful, and I regret my purchase.

Hmm...can't say I'm surprised you feel this way! Lol.

Damn the review thread has so many posts

I hope the official thread is this active. This seems like it's going to be a wild game to discuss with lots of diverse opinions on the various mechanics :D

So... The Last of Us > Bioshock Infinite?
I'm smelling Game of the Year here.

Easy there chief. Let's actually play TLOU first before we start throwing goty accolades..especially when the metacritic score is only 2 points apart between the 2.

Also, speaking of headphones anyone know some cheap ones, but quality ones? I don't exactly have the funds to spend 200$ on headphones, especially when I don't have that much funds and just want to use them for this only (i feel the game would be enhanced by this quite exponentially)

It's playable alright, but it's not fun or entertaining. I hate stealth games, though. And I hate stealth sections in action/adventure games even more.

I haven't played Uncharted in 5 1/2 years, I don't even remember at all.

Well don't bother going back to it. It's pretty much third person Call of Duty, complete with thousands of waves of enemies, more linear than a railroad, and setpiece after setpiece.

The Bioshock Infinite OT is by far the most active I have ever been involved (thanks mostly to Andrew and I :P) in, but the reviews for that game hit after the OT was already up, so a lot of the conversation was split between the review thread and the OT.

For right now this is the only place for TLoU-GAF to congregate. :)

It's like 5 minutes long. It's a pacing section. There's nothing wrong with it.

Also.....have you seen a video of The Last Of Us? There's a lot of stealth.

I'm not even a huge Uncharted fan but calling it third person Call of Duty is pretty silly.

Just found out my TV has a headphone jack so I hooked up my Sennheisers to play the demo.....

I now understand why they put listen mode in this game, and I am so happy that I will be able to turn it off forever without a second thought.

I heard something about a Last of Us bundle that came with a pair of Sony Headphones.

Am I crazy because I cant find it online anywhere.

A bundle? If you are in Canada I think you mean the $50 coupon for the Pulse elite headphones if you preorder The Last of Us between EB Games, Best Buy, and Futureshop.

I already have the pulse elite headset. Its pretty good, but haven't used it in a game like this where its vital to know your surroundings.

TBH, it has saved me a few times in starhawk MP though.

Speaking of which who is making the OT for this game?
