Has there ever been a video game adaption in history that is even average, never mind good, aside from Sonic?

Not to mention that this looks like a fucking disaster from having retcon extraordinaire Druckmann involved with the script to some pretty shitty casting.

I found your comment funny because this will likely be a disaster and also because it says something about the current state of TV and film media that this could be someone's most anticipated thing.

Damn, I thought we'd get a late 2022 release.

There is this theory that the remake is pretty much ready but ND is waiting to release it with the show. In that case, we aren't getting the remake before Q1 2023 either.

Sonic, Silent Hill, Arcane, Castlevania, Uncharted are all decent.

The rest are doo doo.

But the talent going into this thing, the amount of quality writers and Directors, the fantastic budget, the producers, the network its on (HBO doesnt release trash) all point to this being the best video game adaption, ever. By far. I expect it to finally end that stigma. Going to be awesome. Too much talent in here for it to not be. They have Oscar nominated cinematographers working on this thing. Its going to be good.

Not to mention its like my fav game of all time. And Chernobyl was legit.

We knew filming would wrap up around mid-late June this year already. Once you add in post-production it was easy to see a 2023 release window.

How miserable are you?

Chernobyl was brilliant and that guy is involved. HBO have a good success rate.

Some people just want to be miserable

Walking dead is a great example of what last of us show will be, Ellie and Joel are really great characters, the post apocalyptic Seattle area is great.

Arcane is excellent. Detective Pikachu and the first Silent Hill movie are really good. I've only seen Season 1 of Castlevania but it was solid. The Persona 4 anime was pretty good as well (never got around to the P3 movies, and the P5 anime sucked). And I've heard Tales of the Abyss had a pretty good anime. The Monster Rancher anime was pretty fun. And I mean, what miserable person doesn't have fond memories of the Pokémon anime?

With the shoots still nowhere near done plus post production it was kinda a given. Hope Factions 2 and remake hit this year though. Well, remake can come out next year, simply because I don't have a ps5. If I suffer, you can too. xD

Person is a huge TLoU fan. And wants TLoU1 protected at all costs.

Sonic is the pinnacle of gaming based movies. Is it even possible that a horrible, terrible successful writer like Mazin be able to even reach that golden standard?

Will this show even reach the multi awarded show masterpiece The Walking Dead?

In a new interview, director Kantemir Balagov, who helmed the pilot episode of The Last of Us, indicated when the series will actually be premiering on HBO. While acknowledging that the show is still in the production process, Balagov said that, based on his own understanding, it's set to release "early next year." Beyond this, he also acknowledged how important it was for him to work on The Last of Us since the video game series that the show is based on "has a special place in my heart."

So probably February 2023?
