That part in the Polygon preview vid where the
Bokoblins are chasing Link on Horseback and he falls off the cliff
is some serious The Revenant shit right there. I love it!

I expected a 50/60 hours game, but I read two previews that say it's probably more than 100 hours, based on what remained to be discovered on their map. Incredible.

There's always usually just "if I had one small gripe about the game..." and then someone will say it's hardly a big deal either way etc...first couple previews I was finding none of that even! And I just can't believe a game like that is released with virtually no flaws or at least annoyances. But this is preview and not the full review and better yet, some of the more tough to please outlets are super impressive as well.

Yeah, id say the writing is on the wall. This year keeps getting better.

There's plenty of negatives, but the postives are greater.

Some guy said the combat was boring compared to Nioh, which is....well let's just something I dont think most people will compain about since the combat is great.

Gamexplain mentioned you run out of inventory space often so you are constantly in the menu and they wished you could auto drop your worst weapon.

Some areas especially the opening plateu are empty and slow compared to the rest of the game (it is the tutorial)

And there is probably too much micromanaging when it comes to climbing

feels like the review thread might be populated with its fair share of Horizon fans, explaining to us plebs how high review scores don't actually matter, they're all inflated because everyone overrates Nintendo games, shit's just an 8.8 really, if even that, and you're just a fanboy if you think it's legit, Legend of Belda hahahaha

man, as sick as Horizon looks, I'm not looking forward to another round of stooges comparing every single game ever made to it ala Witcher 3 and Bloodborne

lol you are part of the problem

These previews sound amazing, but I still can't get myself to buy the ssystem just for zelda. Maybe when Mario comes out, but I'm sure I'll cave beforehand

I mean this isn't a case of a developer with a merely competent track record hitting a home run out if nowhere thus inviting a level of skepticism, Nintendo is kind of known for making GOAT-level industry changing titles of high quality. That's kind of their thing.

Yeah they do make some GOAT games. 🐐

Some people say it's just nonsense hype that is unjustified though.

I don't even get this sentiment. They're literally had one of the top rated games pretty much every gen. Back on the N64 we had OOT, the GC had Metroid Prime, the Wii had the Super Mario Galaxy games, and now the Wii U (and Switch) will possibly have Breath of the Wild.

Also, looking at that cycle of Zelda -> Metroid -> Mario -> Zelda...looks like we need another game changing Metroid game this (Switch) gen

I was shocked to see how not glitchy it was. Something like that happening in Skyrim or the Witcher would have seen the horse doing triple backflips through the floor.

It seems that some of the distant terrain is very ugly unfortunately :/

I wasn't talking about Jason particularly but in general Nintendo fans are overly attached to the brand. I like some Nintendo games and I'm getting the switch day one but I don't think the game is gonna be a classic. It already looks outdated.

Dude. The entire gaming press is fawning over this. At some point, you just have to accept that we may have something special here.

.... no one mentioned either of those games

Looks great. The world is staggeringly large. Hope it doesn't feel like there's too much wandering. Or at least, if there is, that the wandering is enjoyable and maybe even meaningful.

Have any of the reviews talked about side quests in the game? Do they come up much, and what kind of quality are they?

The reviews I have read have said the world is well-populated, so it seems like they understood that part of open world building well.

Well I listened to/read a few previews and a lot of them at least mentioned that the weapon durability system wasn't particularly great and that the framerate wasn't perfect in docked mode.

Reviews in a week anyway, we'll know by then if the game is just "good" or a classic :)

I didn't think I would be angry about spoilers like that, but I kinda am lol.

I really hope the rest of the game shakes out as well as these initial few hours of impressions suggest. I think that's my biggest concern right now.

Yea, I've been doing my best to go blind into BOTW. Those gifs were the last thing I was expecting. :/

With Zelda it's best to take the chance and play it for yourself rather than relying on the media to give a less hyperbolic opinion.

It's shockingly bad just how low the discourse has gotten around here in the last couple of weeks. Everyone ready to jump on the smallest thing and blow it up regardless of whether evidence and concensus has been brought forward yet. And then, when consensus is brought forward, denying it if it disagrees with your pre-determined opinion on the matter.

Things are ugly right now.

So, you haven't played it, but you've already decided that the opinions of those out there who have must be invalid based on your observation of... how it looks? I don't understand it, but I suppose that's because there's not anything to understand.

It's no point in debating this right now. People are just gonna claim it's fanboyism no matter what even if the game is good. Just wait for review date and let the low hanging bait just hang there.

I'm super stoked about the previews, this game sounds like a dream to play.

One 'bad' thing about this thread is that all suspense about how this game will review is over. From the tone of these articles, it appears that it'll be the presumptive GotY contender with a 90+ meta.

It's a shame that we'll be denied a proper stonking review meltdown thread, but I guess a GotY Zelda game is some small consolation.

Honestly, reading through these reviews, I'd be surprised if it doesn't get a Meta in the high 90s. It'll be the highest Meta score we've seen for a game for a long time.

Why are you saying this? You're the one bringing up Horizon.

You really think this looks like a 2017 game?

I'm at a loss as to how people like you continue to remain ignorant as to why some of us are hyped for this game. Boiling it down to "Oh man, just Nintendo fanboys who can't wait for the next big Nintendo thing!"

I'm not even a Zelda fanboy, but fuck if I haven't been labeled as such in these sorts of threads. Because who else would think this looks like a solid game in 2017? I mean look at those distance textures, how could you have any expectations for this game? smh

I didn't jump on anything. I suggested he buy it and play it for himself. How is this a bad thing?

Yeah thks for this mate...I only read about two of those...sounds minor for my taste. I think we're in for another treat.

Critics are tougher but I'm predicting a hit, 93 on meta.

This is looking more and more like it's going to be a landmark game like Mario 64, Ocarina of Time, or Metroid Prime. Hype levels off the chart at this point.
