The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Sequel delayed to Spring 2023

It does for cpu. Matters for physics calculations and clipping.

But not for perfomance my friend. You will get more tech A.I, physichs, etc.. But I'm talking about perfomance in general. There are loads of numbers that give Nintendo Switch CPU advantage against CPU WiiU, no doubt, but NS is and still an ARM CPU with again, give a loads of disadvantages against a desktop/custom CPU.
What is saving NS is his GPU, CDproject already explain that on their Witcher 3 for Nintendo Switch.

This is the first time ive seen this take, but it makes a lot of sense. I always thought Switch was more powerful despite the difference in tflops because it was on a new generation of GPU.

But I have always wondered why the game was downgraded from the initial reveal despite it releasing on new hardware that was supposedly more powerful.

The original Wii U Zelda demo looked stunning too. It was realtime and you could move the camera around. I get that it was an indoors demo compared to the open world BOTW but the difference is generational.

The downgrade from the 2014 Botw demo to Switch retail was frigging huge. I remember so many people trying to act like it wasn't downgraded too.

Lol who did not see this coming, most likely a fall 23 game, really hope they added some real dungeons this time, dont know how nintendo gets away with releasing so few games, i guess as they make so much profit on hardware, they have no need to.
Yup I can almost guarantee it will be fall '23. Zelda usually gets delayed multiple times.

Let me put it this way. 4A (metro 2033) programmers said Wii U CPU was "horrible and slow" which prevented Last light from appearing on Wii U. But switch got metro redux.

You can also look at hyrule warriors Wii U vs switch (definitive edition, not calamity) for a linear improvement in fps with the number of enemies on screen. Dynasty warriors dev also complained about Wii U CPU in comparison to xbox 360.

Not saying Wii U CPU doesn't have its advantages, but overall it's better due to how much more recent it is, I mean we are talking 15 years in design difference, ARM or not. No developer is going to tell you that the switch CPU isn't better overall. If you find one that does, let me know because that would be interesting.

Breath of the Wild 2 = Fall 2023 on Switch
Switch 2 worldwide reveal = Fall 2023
Switch 2 launch = Spring 2024
Breath of the Wild 2 slightly enhanced Switch 2 port = Spring 2024 (one of Switch 2's launch titles)

Nintendo saw Elden Ring and got scared that their LoZ game cannot compete for GOTY.

Soulsbourne games are generally better than Zelda games mechanically anyways. The wide variety of weapons, combinations, arts, builds, etc, while Link has just a basic set.

The amount of expectations for this Zelda game will be high. At this point we should have the option to play as Zelda. I can already play as both a female and male character in Elden Ring.

Zelda team is going to copy souls games so hard with many hidden dungeons, bosses, and optional areas hidden behind very small entrances like ledges, hidden walls, and oddly specific requirements that takes the community of a subreddit to figure out.

Well GOTY is easy for this one, it goes to Elden Ring.
Haha

You bring up a good point, but let me remind my post once again. Nintendo Switch CPU have advantages over Wii U CPU, in other hand ARM CPUs have loads of problems for being ARM.

Lets not forget how Nintendo Switch games usually don't have AA, in the other hand Wii U games have. John from Digital Foundry already pointed that all (funfact: Even Nintendo 64 use AA).

Wii U games often had no AA either.

Smash 4, pokken tournament, Mk8, New super mario bros., wonderful 101, etc. etc.

I think Pikmin 3 on switch has no AA but Wii U does? But in that case, it's a bad port in general that looks worse and runs worse. And doesn't have glorious IR pointing :D

And no AA has nothing to do with cpu anyway, but yeah some Switch ports are indeed inferior for one reason or another. Sm3d world looks worse on switch and the gameplay speed is f'd up.

Basically the Wii U and switch are close enough that if you don't put a lot of effort in porting, switch may end up with a bad port.

Thats I agree with you. Wii U and Switch are close match. As much BOTW come to the table, my best example is Mario Kart 8 with on Switch fixed the framerate from 59 on Wii U to 60 on Switch.

Or God of War. Or some game that no one saw coming like It Takes Two was last year.
GOW looks like a direct sequel that should have just come out on PS4.

Not gonna go as far as to say it looks like DLC but it's just more of the same. No way it's getting GOTY.

TLOU 2 was a direct sequel as well. Didn't matter then. Forza Horizon 5 got plenty of GOTY votes. Didn't matter then either. Hell, BoTW 2. And we have seen little to nothing of Starfield so don't get why it gets an automatic mention and God of War doesn't. I'd say at this point God of War has just as much chance as anything. Just depends how good the game is like everything else.

I'm sure all these games will get votes though.

Zelda games should be good. Delay it until it's good.

AHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

FUKKKK

I bought a Wii U in 2015 cause I wanted it ready for when BOTW1 came out. All those delays only for it to finally get gimped so it would have parity with the Switch version. I was so pissed I told myself I wouldnt buy a Switch until BOTW2 was on the shelves. I still dont have a Switch and here we are. Wow.
Be kinder to yourself.

Why do you hurt yourself like this?

Essentially confirms they're slating an Odyssey sequel this holiday, to coincide with the Illumination Mario film.

It's encouraging that Nintendo announced this delay so early in the year and also specified a season; makes them seem confident in their ability to finish BotW2 by that time.

This also means that the time between BotW and BotW 2 (6 years!) is longer than Skyward Sword and BotW (5 years 4 months). I guess COVID threw a wrench in the works, but still. Would be nice if 2022 gets TP+WW HD ports as a consolation prize.

Darn it, I was really hoping they'd be able to get it out this year.. Although as soon as I saw a new Pokémon launching by the end of the year I thought they might do this at some point…

I'd rather they took thier time than brought out a weaker game. Also they need the time to finish the switch pro version....

Because Nintendo's Zelda games always get delayed, but for most fans its worth the wait anyways since they deliver amazing action adventure games with plenty of polish and unique game mechanics. BotW is Nintendo's most ambitious game, at least we aren't talking about a GTA VI here.
I get it. Its ok for Nintendo, Sony products to be delayed and pushed back, just not Microsoft
The hypocrisy is amazing, just contrast the reaction here to the talk of Fable from Playground games

So basically you will get a 6 year old looking game in 2023...Nintendo really dont give two fucks anymore because people will just suck it up no matter what so why try harder.

you will get a 6 year old looking game that will put games like horizon forbidden west to shame.
Right..like they were talking about the first one. I mean the only person that could say BOTW was a masterpiece RPG is someone that never even played RPGs before. And to think people were comparing it to Red Dead 2 lol....it was the most overhyped, most mediocre RPG (zelda). And the enemies they are reusing the same shit over and over, can they ever come up with a design that isnt 20+ years old? Nintendo keeping on with that minimal effort rep.

ok buddy you're so angry, we get it.

6 years to make a sequel. Damn ninty.

Elden Ring wins GOTY then easily.
lol and people thought it wouldn't be a long wait because they lay the groundwork with BOTW.

hopefully this means it isn't gonna be BOTW with some new shit slapped on it. i don't mind waiting but i hope they show off more new parts of the game.

First of the three big titles delayed until 2023. Next: Starfield and God of War.
i think starfield will get pushed back. actually it probably should if it doesn't. we all know it's going to release a buggy broken mess but hey it's bethesda so they get a free pass /s

who the fuck calls Zelda an RPG? It's an Action-Adventure.

And to think people were comparing it to Red Dead 2 lol...
I think the strengths of Read Dead(believability, story, cineast, characters) and BOTW(interactivity, freedom, gameplay oriented world design) are at different places, but for the sake of it:

both have an incredible detailed physics engine and are full of details (both obvious and non obvious), easily the creme de la creme of open world games (those and Elden Ring).
Especially evident when you throw Horizon into the mix. It should be noted that most open world titles can't even compete with Horizon, and yet Read Dead and BOTW run circles around it.

Makes sense with Xenoblade 3 and Pokemon coming this holiday. Hopefully we get a WW/TP HD collection this year to make up for this.

That would too close to the release of BOTW 2. They don't want to oversaturate the market with Zelda. For this same reason we won't get a Switch port of Xenoblade X anytime soon.
