The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword announced for Wii [N-CONF]

By the way, probably as a relieve to Dragona..though no mention of it..maybe he just played like that on purpose..

But in the hands-on video from e3.nintendo.com, one of the first things they show is a left-handed player, playing Zelda..holding the remote on his left hand and the nunchuck on the right..he was laughing so he apparently wasn't suffering or playing like that on purpose.. :p

I'll see if I can grab a screen-pic, though the site seems slow and is the last video they show on the site...and there are no controls to choose any specific video..

Screens are really nice.

The art-style is a strange one. It's like WW + TP but it never goes the extreme like WW did. But that in itself makes it have this look of a painting or something. It's nice.

it really does look gorgeous. like a water-colour painting.

And I don’t mind if the controls are different from older Zelda games. I’m excited to try something new. that’s the reason I own a Wii.

I have the HD systems for traditional controls.

Did you miss the trailers? Or do you really think fighting moblins in a lava stage inside a mountain is something fresh and new? The only new thing we saw at all was the beetle, and it seems to function like a glorified boomerang. Everything they showed was stuff we've seen before in the franchise.
Did you miss the fact that a trailer is only like a minute long? I think we need to wait for more information before we go into meltdown mode.

I thought graphically this looked fantastic. Jury is obviously still out on the controls. I think the new item system will be much more efficient though for sure.

A level designed for demo purposes is not going to wow anyone with visuals. Wait for an official trailer that shows off all the different aspects to the world. I think the game will look fine.

I'm starting to wonder how you guys game at all. Only one dpad on the SNES controller. Nintendo is completely anti-letfy!

What terrible discrimination!
Meticulously designed by GodManPig to be a few sticks short of a teepee.

So yeah, the conference showing was terribad, and I'm sure that'll be all the fuel needed for people to dismiss the controls. I really like the visual style, even though NeoGAF always somehow gets me to expect darker graphics.

I'm impressed at how much the game is pushing motion control. I really hope they can pull it off.

Everyone seems to have no problems with the controls from various impressions. I seriously cant believe people are still thinking the controls will be busted.

Not liking motion controls is one thing, but thinking Nintendo will ever release a completely busted controlling first party title? C'mon.

Also i'm sure various hud features will be fixed by release...at least I hope.

The game looks GORGEOUS! I was so happy to see the mix between cel-shaded and realistic. Very refreshing.

My immediate thought was: This is "Zelda Galaxy" style visuals. Which is great.

The controls were obviously being messed up by the environment, which is a real shame but will obviously be fine in normal use.

Stuff that was just on E3.Nintendo.com:

They showed footage of people playing Zelda at the conference. The people playing it said the controls were "perfect" and "intuitive" and that it felt really fun to play.

I also saw footage of somebody playing left-handed. Not sure if there's an option to switch it but there was definitely somebody swinging the sword with their left hand.
Good to know. But this just shows that Nintendo knows what they're doing. This game will surely be polished to perfection and it won't be a port either.

The only thing I wish they’d do with this game was give you an option to hide the HUD.

so many little icons and faint controller outlines on the screen. it’s a little crowded.

Hardly melting down, just saying my first impression is disappointment because of how typical it all looks. Like I said before, I hope they have an ace up their sleeve.

Wow looks great the style. Love the use of colors.

Only negative is that one enemy in the second screen is a terrible design. Hideos.

Really digging some of the items. Love that they brought sword beams back, whip looks awesome, and bomb bowling I think could be a really cool way of delivering bombs.

Really need to see more of it. The controls will be great and the graphical style is leagues ahead of TP (though not quite up there with Wind Waker, atleast not from what we've seen so far) but I want to know more about the actual game.

I hope there is a focus on sidequests and Towns and people. TP felt so dead. Barely any real towns, very few people populating the world, barely any fun sidequests.
More Majora's Mask and Wind Waker, less Twilight Princess is what I'm saying I guess.

Daaaaaaaaaaaaamn

Those are some beautiful screens.

And the HuD that is being shown might be for demo purposes only. Stop freaking out about it.

As usual? last years conference was a trainwreck with all the focus on casual oriented stuff.
You're thinking of 2008. In 2009 at least we had Metroid and SMG2, right?
It's true that they had the worst conference for the last 2/3 years, but when they do a good one, daaamn, they sure do deliver :D

The new screens are great. At the very least this game will look stunning. Hopefully gameplay will match them

I'll be honest though, the graphics don't look too consistent. Some shots look gorgeous, but others, like this:

look pretty bad. Check out those trees. :/

Okay, so the Link model and a lava stage. An environment that's been present in every friggin Zelda game.

So I think it's pretty obvious by now that some sort of flying is going to be the method of transportation.
Thinking the same thing.
Notice the tail on the bird in the logo? I don't think that was there before ;)

Why did Nintendo even do the presentation like this? When they showed TP they were facing away from the audience, standing parallel to them.

Here they were standing face forward to them. it never occurred to them that the IR in various phones, cameras and laptops would mess up the calibration?

So expect a full blown trailer at either Nintendo's event this year or E3 next year. -takes note- Ah well. This year we get Metroid and Donkey Kong Country. Satisfaction.

The live demo at E3 was an embarressment, but I still have hope this game will deliver in the end... I mean it's fucking Zelda, a platinum franchise for Nintendo, they wouldn't release it with it controlling that poorly.
