The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom |OT|

I must be going insane. You can skip the animation going in and skip the animation once you're entering. Are you guys referring to skipping all of it altogether? It is literally 2-3 seconds...

Think you lose the add on if you do...

Wiggle that shiat!
Yeah i'm playing in english that is not my native language and i didn't understood that i had to fap the stick a couple of times:lollipop_grinning_sweat:

Played loads of breath of the wild, 100+ hours, but never finished it.
Loaded it up this morning and did the ending, and went right into Tears, which actually works perfectly.

I can't believe I was going to skip this game. I'm a moron. It's incredible.

lmao, I'm already stuck getting to the third shrine. Been wandering the snow eating peppers for half an hour.
When I got the top I was at the wrong side. I was where the water fall was leading down to a lower section.
But there is a wall you can climb up, (you can see it clear as day, but you need to jump down to get there and don't go in the water you die quick) you just make it on default stamina.

Am not sure if that's the correct way to do it but it's how I done it 😂

I can't overstate how refreshing it is playing a game that doesn't treat players as complete idiots and gives them space to figure things out on their own (I'm looking at you Ragnarock, Horizon, and Plague's Tale). It makes the experience so much more enjoyable.

I enjoyed those games but I hated how especially Aloy would say how to complete a puzzle like the second I entered a room. Let me explore some, damn.

I purchased a Switch OLED yesterday and started this game too and I honestly think this may be the best game I've ever played.
I haven't even left the initial sky island and I can't remember the last time I felt joy playing a game like this one.
I know it's not a graphical powerhouse but the game mechanics make you feel like you're controlling your own story and nothing is getting in its way.
Now buy Metroid prime remastered and your work is done.

These new magic powers are making the game better.
I fused a bunch of crazy looking weapons. I'm also enjoying attaching fans to wings and tree logs. Also enjoy going straight through a mountain to the top.

Inventory management in this game is crazy
That's actually one thing that's a bit of a pain in the ass, when you go to throw an object it can take forever to scroll back and forth…and I feel like bright bloom seeds and bomb flowers are always at the opposite ends of the scroll thing

ok i don't know exactly how much i played yesterday, time went fast,im just gonna writte first impressions 😁its nice to visit Hyrule once again!

*Unlike many, many people Zelda Breath of the Wild is not my favorite Zelda game,i found it lacking in some important areas and somewhat overrated,so i went with lower expectations to Tears of the Kingdom.

*The most important and "new" features are the hand abilities, while interesting, after hours i feel the puzzles are starting to blend together, also they missed an opportunity to use the hand in combat(other than to Fuse weapons)

*visual quality, for some reason the starting big island is way prettier than Hyrule proper 😂 also those helping robots are rad🤖

*After playing for hours the main thing i can comment is how similar this game is to Breath of the Wild,in every way its no joke. this game is basically Breath of the Wild 1.5, and i don't mean it in a bad way(or a good way, just what it is),but some fans will no doubt complain once the honeymoon phase is over,if they wanted something different than more Breath of the Wild, because at moments you are fighting the same enemies, with the exact same music,on a familiar location ,visiting the same characters, etc.

Again its not a bad thing since Nintendo took what worked in the previous game and built on top of it,smart design, people who loved BotW will enjoy this title just as much,Tears of the Kingdom is the complete experience and it meets those expectations

I just solved a step in a shrine that i'm sure wasn't intended to be solved this way using the reverse ability. Went to Youtube to see how someone else solved it and it is very very very simple way than what my mind came up with.

I'd argue that people's biggest complaints with the first game were lackluster storytelling, weapon degredation and no dungeons. Those complaints are def. addressed in this game. It's def. more of the same from BotW, but it's more or less addressed and improved on just about every issue from that game. Now whether one thinks those are improvements enough is up for debate. But I think they nailed it so well. It's a slow burn to open up, but once it's firing on all cylinders, it's damn near impossible to put down.

I'm on the fence with this one. I love the new mechanics and sky islands, but what about Hyryle itself? How much of it is different from what is in BotW? I don't want to go through the same world twice, considering I played BotW for the first time last year.

Truly and legitimately the greatest game ever made.

I am stunned by the sheer amount of content, and the freedom to do really anything you want to do, HOW you want to do it, WHEN you want to do it.

Breath of the Wild is a filthy pauper when compared to this princely masterpiece.

The game is amazing. I love the Collector's Edition as well.

My first real head-scratcher came with the Tukarok Shrine. I have no idea how anyone else completed this, but when I finally did it was through some of the most redneck, kludged together craziness. (I'm from rural Arkansas, I can use the "r" word)

Added this to the firsts page but I'll put it here to.

Some tips to help out the noobs in this thread who seem like they don't understand that you're supposed to come ups with your own solutions in this game because they've been playing nothing but walk and talk simulators since 2017

I turned off the video after the first thing - it was so cool to discover the ultrahand and recall possibilities organically through trying to figure it out on my own - I feel like that's half the fun

This is the shrine I was talking about haha

I came out that cave in the snow and turned around and climbed a tree root lol. I don't even know what the intended wha to get to the shrine is.

How much is different from the botw map? I know there are 3 tiers, which is cool. Is the overworld tier the largest still and is it the same as botws?

They haven't addressed the main flaw of Botw - worthless rewards for exploration. It's pretty clear at this point that the devs never played a western rpg in their lives. Stuff like Baldur's gate, Gothic, Might and Magic, Fallout, Arcanum and all the other classics.

There's almost no character progression except for health and stamina. You get every ability from the get go. And there's no way to upgrade those abilities. You will never find anything cool in this game, no artefacts, no new cool abilities, no cool weapons, no rings, bracelets etc.

How about a ring that renders you invisible for some time? Or boots that increase your running speed? Or a bracelet that increases your attack speed? Or anything

The difficulty of this game is completely compromised by the ability to stuff yourself with as much food as you want at any moment.

That's the tragedy of these last two entries in the Zelda series - they are completely busted from a gameplay perspective and no amount of gimmicks will help it unfortunately.

It's the same map, but there's so many differences that you should really toss any concept of this being DLC right out the window. Underworld is supposedly every bit as big as the Overworld.

I did that last week. I quit playing years ago and all I had left of the main story was the castle, so I did that. I wasn't gonna bother with finishing all of the shrines or finding the remaining 868 Korok seeds lol. I did a lot of the DLC too. Maybe I'll eventually go back to it on a newer, more powerful Switch, if I'm able to.

Thank you! That was what I was the most afraid of, to be honest.

Yeah, this is were i think it will vary depending on the person ,if someone thought Breath of the Wild was(or close to) the GOAT,insuperable, most amazing flawless open world game ever then Tears of the Kingdom will not dissapoint.

So far, i don't believe TotK is the next 'evolution' of Zelda or 'open world' games ,but mostly a smartly designed sequel, its not groundbreaking but plays well the qualities of the previous game and polishes it.

Im fine with it 🤭can see an horde on the horizon overrating this game a little and on the other side, calling it rehashed

Tears is shaping up to be more special than BotW ,thanks to classier dungeons and more involved storyline

The sky looks pretty small and the underworld looks pretty shit.
(that is also what I was kind of afraid of)

I'll give it a chance and if it really looks like they half assed things I will be at the front of the shitpost pitchfork brigade. I really loved botw and the exploration was what did it for me, which is why Im so eternally butt hurt about the map recycling. BOTW was good enough that Im willing to purchase it despite my doubts.

I've finished BotW last month and I still found this to be different enough. Tower mechanics are different. You have caves and more discovery locations. New abilities which make your interaction with the world different. More involved story so far. Far far far better shrines design. So yes from a person who finished BotW last month, this Hyrule is different enough.

Just coming out of my first play session.

Yet again it feels like every other dev in the industry focus on the wrong things. The gameplay, physics, interaction, player choice makes this game feel more next gen than anything on the more powerful consoles.

The rewards for exploration are discovery and the fun and satisfaction of working things out. If that's not your thing I can see that the game wouldn't land well with you.

I think it depends.

BOTW is still the better experience to me because it was fresh and new.

TOTK is more tightly designed and expanded, but you do lose some of that same sense of wonder

But yeah, generally if you liked BOTW you will like TOTK and vice versa, but I don't think TOTK is the slam dunk "better experience"....just different and expanded. If you didn't like BOTW though? Well TOTK doubles down on most of the structure, and I think you will be disappointed if you're looking for a traditional Zelda experience

Use the auto sort with Y button, sometimes the item you are looking for will pop up a lot closer.

I just notice npcs get out of the rain. That's pretty cool.

All wells can be entered

The caves are a cool addition.

It's much more of a real living world this time.

And the real treasure was the friendship we made along the way. It's so ironic that this game is held to different standards while everyone hating on ubisoft for popularizing the boring soulless openworld genre.

Perhaps because most people find this game neither boring nor soulless. 🤷‍♂️

I'm really enjoying the game so far but honestly i don't know if some posts are serious or not. It seems so off with my experience, maybe i need to play more. It doesn't feel even close to an outstanding effort so far.

I'm so excited for this game, reading all those comments. Can't wait a after 5 year for those "100 things you didn't know..." about Totk

Except in Assasins Creed after 30 hours all the tropes have been uncovered and its mostly rinse and repeat (and on the rails of some linear do this then this path). In zelda after 100 hours I'm guaranteed to do something new I hadn't expected that I decided to and be filled with wonder at the creativity all around me.

Except for that teensy weensy detail the experiences are completely identical and it's like rainy day on your wedding day (which BOTW isnt actually ironic).

I don't know if this post is serious.

On one hand, "I'm really enjoying the game so far..." followed by "It doesn't feel even close to an outstanding effort."

Then what are you enjoying? And if you're not really enjoying it, then why are you playing it?

I'd pretty much take anything he's saying right now with a grain of salt. Let's see: scores of rave reviews from the press and enthusiasts, versus a post on NeoGAF. The answer is quite simple.

Yes, wells can be entered, but holy hell did I find one out in the world that I wished I hadn't entered :messenger_loudly_crying::messenger_loudly_crying::messenger_loudly_crying:
