Ok word. Yeah it's very believable. I know the arcade line was working on Donpachin at least when it was first developed, but they probably got tired of that. It'll be interesting to find out exactly who left but I imagine we won't until we see the Ubusuna staff credits in like 4 years. lol Seriously this is going to take awhile.

One thing to note that the shmups crowd has wrong though: M2 has indeed worked on arcade titles before. They built character animations for Dengeki Bunko: Fighting Climax, they worked on Koihime Enbu I imagine doing character animations again. Both of these were for SEGA's All-net Plus Multi system. AND they are working on the Skullgirls arcade port which is for NESiCA.

So they have experience developing on both of the relevant arcade hardware systems of the moment.

That said, we don't know if Ubusana will be arcade or not, since right now they're talking console only. Either way, M2 is certainly ready to pull the trigger if they feel like making the jump into arcade gaming.

Oh man, that's an exciting thought that honestly never occurred to me. If not, well, at least we got SaiDaiOuJou. I couldn't think of a more fitting note to end on.

I also wonder if Cave is planning anything non-mobile if they still have their big names (Ikeda, Yagawa, etc).

Hi, I just got bitten by the Cave-mania bug and I'll be getting an arcade joystick this week. I know Cave games use 4 buttons in the arcade, and I'd like to know the right button setup (which button shoots, which bombs...) for them when playing on the 360. I'm currently enjoying Akai Katana, but I'll be getting Deathsmiles and DoDonPachi Resurrection soon.

Pictured is the is the usual layout, right? My guess for Akai Katana is that:
  1. Summon
  2. Shoot
  3. Bomb
  4. ? (optional Auto-fire Defense mode)

That's correct that's the usual layout, but the buttons are:

1 2 3
4

1: Regular shot
2. Bomb
3. Auto Fire
4. Ninja Mode (Summon)

The game will give you two choices for the control scheme, above is A, B swaps 3 and 4. But if your arcade stick has quick disconnects, you can customize it however you like! :)

I see, I was counting the buttons wrong :p

So when a joystick is connected the game detects it? Nice! I thought I had to manually assign each button.

No worries man! I'm not sure how the port handles it (as I play the PCB) but I would think there would be a option to change it to the arcade layout...

History of Cave arcade games that were never sold:

Protect your ears. I had headphones on and this shit is mad loud.

edit: nevermind, looks like the account isn't owned by CAVE haha

still pretty cool that a lot of the shmups forum members and EOJ were able to compile this for our viewing. never even heard of almost all of these.

propeller wars would've been my kinda game... progear in vert? sign me up.

I'm pretty sure he had nothing to do with it. CAVE PCB is Muchi Muchi Spork's Youtube channel. Maybe you're thinking of something else.

Looks like the same collection I'm building, but you're a couple games up on me.

I keep telling myself I might not get Futari and MMP, but we all know it's just a matter of time.

Really? Futari was the first one i picked up and it is STILL one of my favorites.

I just ordered Daifukkatsu Black Label, myself. I had the DLC for the original Japanese Daifukkatsu release and I generally don't care for arrange modes all that much (my expectations for that Ketsupachi mode aren't that high), but hell, it's the one physical Cave release I don't own. And I won't mind having another way to play Black Label, lol.

ketsupachi is actually a lot of fun, but very overwhelming at first (which might seem odd for a cave shmup, but ddp + ketsui mechanics are a lot to take in). definitely worth the purchase to mess around with, but I personally never sunk much time into it or any other cave remix modes (like mmp/ps dlc). I did actually spend a lot more time with ketsupachi than I did with ddpdfk 1.5 or bl tho since I wasn't the biggest fan of either version.

Hello,

I want to sell my Xbox and I really dislike the idea that I have to sell my cave games. Better to find a good home for them here on GAF then on Ebay.

I have:

Mushihimesama Futari (JP Region Free)
Muchi Muchi Pork (JP Region Free)
Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu (Pal)
Dodonpachi Saidaioujou (JP Region Free)
Deathsmiles (Pal)
Akai Katana (Pal)
Espgaluda 2 Black Label (JP Region Free)

If someone is interested, send me a PM!

Uhhh.....what.

I LOLed. Is it even a new game? Or will it be just levels from the previous iOS ports with social crap bolted on?
Looks like the latter. Some new insects to ride though wooo. One of the bosses I didn't recognize (the fortress bug) but its been ages since I last played the first game.

Hmm, better than nothing I guess. It does look like more of a remix game of the two past Mushihimesama games with re-used assets. At this point the fact that we all thought Cave was gonna go full social games style, at least they still are coming out with a mobile shmup game.

Still would love a new shmup by them on my Wii U.

looking like ever-so-slightly more legitimacy to a lot of Cave's devs leaving

it's been swell

Honestly I'll take Mushihimesama Remix on iOS/Android than absolutely nothing. At least the smartphone ports were quality.
And they're also not calling it Mushihimesama 3.

Well I managed to get a working copy of Espgaluda 2 for 360 this time so hurray! However, the copy of Mushihimesama I got has the same issues the bad copy of Espgaluda 2 did years ago...it wont read and thinks its a DVD or it outright claims the disc is dirty.

sigh...this only happens to me on importing Cave games. I literally have a 50% record for getting Cave titles that work now.

are you SURE it is not your console? I have owned many different copies of cave games and have never had that problem on multiple 360 consoles.
