awesome, thanks for all the prompt responses! I'll be picking up Guwange in the near future, and DFK PAL when I have money, then Mushihimesama Futari. I'm still like, a D-Class shmup player, so I don't know that I'm ready to handle something like Espgaluda 2 then.![]()
Well,
I hope they don't give up on J-360. they still have to release the new Dodonpachi and the Ibara collection.
We will get another release after the first Mushi in May, I'm betting. For fall.
I came to post about that interview in May 2012 Famitsu 360 and I am not sure I agree with the translation above...he says in earlier answer that of course they will continue to work on shooting games, but the last part he is just talking about doing something pretty large scale that they haven't done before, and apologizes it is not going to be for 360..he said it is secret and just getting a solid plan now . in a diff part of the interview they hint that next series to get a sequel is likely to be Deathsmiles...
Hope so too, but maybe that big project isn't a shmup. Bullet hell fps?
it is an incredible bundle, but it's kind of hard to recommend it to anyone since used copies are $100+Buy Muchi Muchi Pork/Pink Sweets. MMP is the best!
it'll probably go down to around $70 if a platinum hits released, but I'm thinking that might be a huge "if".Considering normal video game console release depreciation is like 80% of its value in 3 months, it's pretty crazy that MMP+PS has actually appreciated in value. I wonder if they have a GoD and/or Platinum Hits release in the cards - it'll be interesting to see how much the values crash if that happens.
PS/MMP was 100-130 to begin with, not really gone up much in price. Tokyo Shmups always puts them for pretty cheap, new copies with DLC...certainly cheaper than eBay.

Mushihimesama Futari is awesome and region free. That's the one you should get now. Espgaluda II is also quite good (but hard as shit). That is your other region free option.
There's also the Pink Sweets/Muchi Muchi Pork two pack, which people seem to like. I haven't played it, myself, however.
Thanks for sharing this information. I've been hovering over MMP/PS for a while now and the price they have it for seems very fair.
And I guess this is the best place to leave this question. I'm ready to get my J-360 but is there a place that people agree on that I won't have to pay out the ass to get one. I'm thinking of going all in and get a 250GB with Kinect so I don't have buy a Kinect later on. But I'm open to suggestions though.
The problem with J-Kinect is that it has a problem recognizing native English. Just a precaution.
Does anyone have a problem with using states to practice tough portions of a run?
As long as you don't try to claim it's a legit/high score run, of course.
Well going to re-j360 soon to replace my stolen one. Any notable releases I've missed out on lately or suggestions?

Under Defeat HD and Mushihime next month. That's about it for recent releases as far as I know.
you can read a few pages back for recommendations...but there's deathsmiles IIX on GoD, mushihime-sama futari ver. 1.5 platinum hits, espgaluda II platinum hits, akai katana shin (releasing soon in the states), dodonpachi resurrection (import from europe - plays on US360s), guwange on XBLA, muchi muchi pork / pink sweets (good luck for finding it under 90-100), and that's it unless you have a J360. All of those games are much more difficult than deathsmiles tho..I just bought Deathsmiles Limited Edition for this 360 I'm borrowing from my mom and I had quite a bit of fun with the game. Originally bought it for the girls on the cover but I found the actual game quite fun. I never was proficient at playing old school arcade shooters like this but until the last three levels (4-1, 4-2, and the final level) I found myself dodging bullets and stuff with relatively ease (on default settings). It took me a few hours to realize that my health doesn't go down if I just get hit anywhere, only at the center. That's like the most unique element ever and it makes dodging bullets fun. Why don't every shooter put heart things in the game like that? Every time I get through a level without dying I just want to punch my TV in joy. I get like this sense of euphoria that I haven't gotten from a video game since Devil May Cry 3 and Tales of Graces f.
Are there any other Cave shooters on the 360 I could purchase? And are there any guides or universal tips on playing these types of shooters?

cave-stg.com and shmups.system11.org have good guides.
yeah. the original retail releases were $70 and the re-releases retailed for $35 I think and include all the stock game modes.Aww, I would of liked to of played Deathsmiles IIX but I only have the 2GB 360. I've seen Mushihime-sama Futari thing and Espgaluda II on Amazon for around 40. That's a good deal?

A few tips for Deathsmiles. The instruction booklet has some nice tips in there including a route that can net you four (!) extra lives. Also, if you can, make sure not to bomb jitterbug, even if you are going to get hit. Going into the fight with 1,000 on the counter and locking on to Jitterbug is a good strategy. If you beat him without using a bomb you will get a 2-up cake. Assuming you have 3 bombs in stock on your last life and you get a 2-up cake, you can just bomb away the final boss anytime a bullet gets somewhat close.
Also, the Lava stage and the Graveyard are great places to go into at level 3. Activating the scoring mode in the beginning of the lava stage where you can choose to go left or right of the floating rock can net 20M points or more! (Enough for one life all by itself.) In the graveyard, you can get a ton of points if you activate the scoring mode when the environment forces you to go to the top of the screen. Just doing these two things can get you enough points for both score based extends.
Anyone with iOS*, Cave put some stuff on sale:

*Or Android, but I'm not sure their stuff is available worldwide.
I just picked up Bug Princess 2 and somehow managed to 1cc it and get the original master achievement on my first try. But....for some reason my score isn't showing up on the leader boards (where it would be 80th all-time, or about 104k). It's not that great a score, but it was a good run for me and it's so frustrating not to see it there.
Just preordered Akai Katana Shin from Amaon.co.uk. Its up there for people wanting a PAL release.
Your initial "investment" of $3-7? (I get what you mean, but it's not like you're breaking the bank here). I could see Bug Princess 1 and 2 getting HD versions down the line (since they already have high res assets with the 360 versions), but was DDP DOJ on 360 a high res release?Held back on a couple of the ones that don't have an HD release, yet at least. Don't want my initial investment to become a waste.
