I just got a Galaxy Note, and it is begging for some Shmups to be played on it's glorious screen.

Any good stuff out there for Android?

It was not. As far as we know, higher res assets for DOJ don't exist.

Good to know. MS has a minimal print run of 50,000 units on retail games, so this should be pretty easy to find for cheap later on (like Deathsmiles).

Well, all of those games were cheap to begin with.

The prices haven't exactly fallen off either, going by Amazon at least. Raiden Fighters has been out the longest and it's at around $15. Raiden 4 is holding on at $20+.
Think of a big budget game that was released not too long ago and 90% of the time you'll find it for sub-$10.
Deathsmiles? Sounds like Aksys way overestimated and got burned.

Still wish there was a hard source on that 50k print run.

Yeah, did not realize Otomedius had a cheaper version at $30 launch. Just remember seeing it for $17 on amazon a few weeks back and thinking, wow.

Not Cave's, but still bitter that Raiden IV and Raiden Fighter Aces never got a PAL release.
I think I had the latter preordered from Amazon for something like a couple of years... :[

We waited for the Raidens in the states for a looonnnggg while as well.

Hoping RSG prices Akai Katana at least at $49.99. Not that I'm keen to pay more but at least it will position it as a proper release.

It's going to be really difficult to sell anything at that price when you can get something of comparable quality for around $10.

Sure there's around a decade of difference between Guwange and Akai Katana but when the people that can tell the difference number in only the thousands it's gonna be pretty difficult.

I mean hell, Guwange has online co-op while Akai Katana does not. What's up with that? (Yeah I know, XBLA requirements and all but still)

I've been grinding DDP Daioujou for a while now and I'm starting to think I'm not worthy. This game is stupid hard. Might be time to take a break and come back to it later.

Super hyped to play Akai Katana.

I've been addicted to "Bug Princess 2" on iOS. Playing it nonstop the past week, I'm finally making some progress. About 190mil 1CC on Hard in Original, which is one below the arcade difficulty I believe. I now NEED to get the 360 version but it seems to be sold out all over.

edit: Is there a mode in Mushi Futari that gives a bonus for extra lives at the end? I thought I read that somewhere, and was bummed that I didn't get anything.

Mushihimesama Futari "Bug Princess 2" is all sorts of awesome and the 360 version is even better. I'd don't think I'll ever get tired of that game.

In Futari 1.5, you get 10 million points for each spare life you have once you clear the game (in Original/Maniac, dunno about Ultra). In Black Label, it's 10 million per life times the amount of bombs you have left in stock (so anywhere from no bonus to 60m per life).


Speaking of Dodonpachi, the Black Label DLC for the Japanese release of DFK1.5 is on sale this week for 400 points: http://www.cave-stg.com/?p=1936

Think I'll finally get some Japanese points and pick it up. I already have the disc release of DFKBL, but this should still be worth it for the different leaderboards (and thus, different replays to download) and the ability to play 1.5 with BL's soundtrack.

Oh, they all do. In either orientation.

also, go all in and get a good arcade stick (if that's possible and you don't have one)

Awesome. That pretty much made my day, heh .I have an SF arcade stick and I plan on swapping out the parts(again) for shmups. I have a TV I want to dedicate to this setup. I'm gonna start with Futari and the others I can play on US 360, and maybe upgrade to J360 in the future.

e: are there any good sticks out of the box? That might be a simpler solution than modding my fightstick.

I love my unmodified TE stick, but I know a lot of people prefer the HRAP EX SE. I didn't like my time with that stick as much, so it can be pretty personal, I guess.

DOJ is the most unfriendly DDP style game Cave did, it's stupendously difficult

I also found the Hyper difficulty system to be infuriating, not quite as counter-intuitive as say, Battle Garegga's rank system, but still needlessly punitive for doing something awesome

I can't say, I've only played it a few times. I really haven't spent much time with anything related to DFK. I'm going to wait until I get 1 billion or so in DOJBL before moving on to it.

It's pretty crazy, there's so much stuff on screen that makes DFK look plain in comparison. But I don't know how much time went into that mode, it's not a mix of Ketsui and DFK, it's literally the Ketsui system piled over the DFK system.

At least me and another member bought it from here a couple of weeks ago. Price is not bad and it was delivered fast.

before the iOS sale ends, Ive been thinking of getting a few more games, are the SD versions of Espgaluda II and DoDonPachi Resurrection still worth it? Im thinking of saving up just a little...

Thanks so much. Ordered Futari + Espgaluda II BL. Setting up my stick + vertical LCD in preperation. I chose SkyMail, how long did it take for yours to arrive? I'll order DFK later, seems to be twice the cost of the two I picked up.
