The full version of Grindhouse including trailers is up. Not the best movies, but they aren't available anywhere else in this format.
I would buy a PS3 tomorrow if this was exclusive to Blu-Ray.

I should note that Red Dwarf and Dead Like Me are available. Both are well worth watching.

here's my recommendations from the streaming list

You... bastard...

It's good to hear that Netflix via the NXE is awesome, but I've noticed most of the chatter revolves around classics. How is the selection of new releases in HD for instant streaming? Are any new movies like Hellboy II or Iron Man available for viewing on the 360?

Blehh...what Disc of Heroes Season 1 would I have to order from Netflix to watch episode 3? I refuse to continue with the series until I watch the next episode, but it won't let me stream it..it says "only available for disc".

Anyone help? :(

The Big Lebowski

Edit: I actually don't have the netflix deal (yet). I actually wanted to test out the waters before I decide to blow my very limited income on a $14 a month subscription.

Edit2: Anyway to get a 48 hour test drive?

It's an error on Netflix. It states that there are 24 episodes for Season 1 but there are only 23. So 3 is 4, 4 is 5 and the list goes on.

So, go ahead and watch the next episode as Episode three isn't actually missing (according to IMDB).

The Big Lebowski is not streamable and Netflix should give you a free two week trial or something like that. It costs just under $10 a month for 1 movie at a time, unlimited streaming.

Just do the 9 dollar one?

No, you won't get that (new releases, especially in HD with a monthly fee) from any service for a long time. If you do, it'll cost more than $9 a month.

I think you can get a 14-day trial for free if you sign up for one. It includes streaming. You just have to be sure to cancel it before the 14 days are up or they charge you for the month. If you cancel before the 14 days are up (or before the month that you've paid for is up, if you're already a subscriber) they cancel it at that moment and don't offer a refund. I found this out the hard way when I canceled my subscription halfway through the month and still had to pay full price. :(

Oh...so they just added an extra episode in there that doesn't belong? That REALLY is Season 1 that I'm watching on Instant Queue?

I'm pretty disapointed by the HD selection. It's pretty much NBC TV shows and movies from Magnolia (which are 90% arthouse crap)

That said, I finally got around to watching the host. Dont bother. C-

I'm pretty happy with the service, it's very nifty. I just want more movies in general and HD in specific. I know their contracts are tricky to get this stuff streaming.. I look forward to a day where every movie netflix has is online. New releases and all. Maybe it's 10 years, but it's gonna rock.

Do any of you think its possible new releases will be available for streaming? There are some gems in the selection, but for the most part it seems like a majority of options are also available in the 5 dollar DVD bin at Walmart.

Don't get me wrong I love the concept, and find myself watching some movies I have no interest in watching simply because I love this feature so much. But it would be nice if Netflix offered most of the new releases for streaming.

Not only would they save my shipping costs (which are substantial given how many discs I go through), but it would open up availability of DVDs to people who don't have the option to stream. Since new releases generally aren't available.

Anyways though this feature is amazing, and I really hope they get the update out so your friends can also watch the movies with you via party system. Although this seems too good too be true, and I don't see Microsoft or Netflix giving out this feature for free even though they said they would.

Anyone else notice that you don't need to sign in/out for your queue to update on NXE?

If you add something on the site it automatically shows up on the instant queue even if you added it while watching something else!

Dope.

Well, Netflix doesn't get to decide which movies they can offer for streaming and which they can't. That is up to the copyright owner and the contract signed with Netflix. The movie studios probably do not want you being able to watch a new release whenever you want at the computer. They want you to go buy the DVD/Blu Ray. a year or so down the road when DVD sales have slowed up? Then they'll take netflix money.

So it's not netflix fault, and there are some amazing backlog movies available. It's just frustrating when you see something you just have to watch and it doesn't stream.

My problem with the netflix model is that you have to know what you are going to feel like watching days in advance. What I want to watch today and what I want to watch when the movie shows up are usually two different things. Streaming is ideal...

but for instance tonight, I wanted to watch a Kurosawa movie. None of his are available streaming. :(

I think the occasional new release will make its way to instant watching (Pans Labyrinth was date and day with the DVD release), but it's probably unrealistic to expect a huge catalog of recent flicks to appear every week. Xbox Marketplace is where you'll find Iron Man, Clone Wars and all the 2008 releases.

The Outer Limits (Showtime series, not the original). 7 seasons! Also, They have one disc of the original series on there now.
I've actually been having a blast watching the old series this week. The Zanti Misfits episode is one that I've heard about for years, but never had the opportunity to watch until last night. Highly recommended.

fucking hell. I knew I should have learned more about it beforehand.

No doubt man, laugh if you must but I BAWLED at Ratatouille. Great flick, absolutely worth a rewatch.

Pixar knows how to tug at people's emotional strings.

Ratatouille didn't do it for me, bawling-wise.

The end of Wall-E sure got me, though. From the fake-out resetting to the end credit history of humanity's revival.

mentioning this means that, of course, I have to recommend the documentary "The Pixar Story" for Netflix streaming. A great doc about the rise of Pixar and the creation of its first 4 movies.

I had no idea Toy Story 2 was so troubled in production. It was genius when released.

Ugh, they really need to get this working for EVERY title :lol

Also kinda sucks that I have to turn my laptop on to add movies to my queue :|

And thats why The Pixar Story should be in your queue.

Anyway so far I know of 4 HD movies.

Beethoven
Expelled
The Thing
King of Kong

You know what's funny Ratatouille did NOTHING for me at all on the first 2 viewings, but I'd have a rough week and as soon as it got near the ending where they had the
critic and the flashback, for some reason his emotional switch and how they pulled everything together spoke loads about the human condition (at least to me).

Either way, both were fantastic films. I cannot wait until their next project is out. I'm currently watching their documentary which is REALLY well put together.

Most of the shit in my streaming queue would never be found in Walmart, or any B&M store for that matter. That's what I love about this feature.

But then again my DVD queue is maxed out and I've pretty much seen all the new movies I care to see in the theater all ready. I think it really depends on your tastes. If all you care about are mainstream movies you might not be very well served.

Uh, I think you're overstating the significance of the PS2 for DVD adoption.
And this is my last off topic post.

Everyone stream Talking Heads' "Stop Making Sense"!

There's an iPhone app to add movies to the instant queue, it shows the top 50 and let you search for a title, i got it for free a couple of days ago, it's $1 now.

There's another program that let you manage your queues and it's free, I.TV, but it only add movies to the dvd queue.

"Instant Queue Add for Netflix" is the one i posted above, and it doesn't need a proxy for the guys overseas.

I haven't had a chance to signup for Netflix and flip through their selection, do they have any of the Star Trek series streamable?

actually, I checked out this app i.TV and you can add to the instant queue as well as the DVD queue. when you tap the add button, it then prompts you with a choice of adding to DVD or Instant.

the problem? i have found no way of finding new movies aside from selecting something in your existing queue and then seeing the 5 recommendations that show up underneath. lame.

edit: this is not true. you can search to find netflix films in the app.

I have i.TV and forgot they just added this function.
Hmm, hope you can search for stuff in the future since LCFiner couldn't find a way to do it. :/

Oh, I figured it out.

Just hit "search" and it should find the movie you looked for.
It'll have a netflix option and will tell you if it's available for disc or instant.

Hit "add to queue" and it'll ask which one to add it to.

I love i.TV even more now.

There just isn't a way to browse the instant movie section, which is what it needs.

OK, major fix to my post above. you can use the generic "search" tab to add movies from netflix to your queue within i.TV.

is this as good as being able to browse top 100 or genres or find new movies from netflix suggestions?
no

is it good enough to add a movie you already have in mind? you betcha.

edit: bah! beaten by dallow! :lol

Just watched sex lies and videotape tonight for the first time. I thought it was fantastic. Definitely add that to the queue if you haven't seen it.

Also should add:

Zero Effect
Cashback
Apocalypto
Unforgiven

I'm a huge Hunter S. Thompson fan so I recommend checking out "Buy the Ticket, Take the Ride." Love the Gary Busey intro. :D

You need to be an unlimited Netflix subscriber for this to work, right? I'm only signed up for the two movies a month plan. Sucks since I'm entitled to some free hours of streaming per month.

The lowest plan that this is available for is 1 disc at a time, unlimited per month which includes unlimited streaming. That is the 9 dollar plan. If you're on a two at a time plan, you would be entitled to this unlimited bandwidth assuming you aren't on an older version of the plan that was grandfathered in (even in that case you could cancel and re-sign up and you should be gtg. The only plan I saw that doesn't include unlimited streaming was the 4.99 plan which only has 2 hours of streaming.

Edit: Or was that you are on the one where you can only get 2 movies a month? If so, sign up for the next tier, it's only 4 dollars more a month.

Yeah, the whole season should be there without any hiccups or missing episodes.

Set in 1983, this drama follows a lonely 11-year-old boy named Shaun, grieving over the recent death of his father who was killed fighting in the Falkland War. When he falls in with a gang of young skinheads, Shaun's pain and anger make him susceptible to carrying out the group's hateful agenda. Directed by Shane Meadows, this semiautobiographical film exposes a dark side of modern Britain not often seen in the movies.

Really good movie....
