is this the year that the Colts actually make it over the hump though? the last two times they've blasted their way into the post season they've just fizzled. the Jets came out of nowhere to blanket them two years ago (ranks right up there with the Giants destroying the Vikings in the 2000 NFC championships under the catagory of 'did the teams switch uniforms?') and then stymied last year by Ty Law's heroics.

maybe Marino's post-season legacy (or lack thereof) passes on to Manning as well)

Colts problem is they are too one dimensional. They need Manning to throw for 4 TDs to beat any of the good teams. That is too much to ask for on the road, outside, in a hostile environment. If the Colts want to advance the rest of the team has to carry its weight and they need to match the physical intensity of both NE and Pitt back to back on the road. That is a lot to ask of anyone.

Something tells me most of the guys on espn will be picking the vikings. They jump on and off bandwagons so fast its amazing.

No shit, i bet you're right. I bet the vikings are the "team of destiny" now, when last week they were spineless, gutless frauds who backed into the playoffs. :lol

Watching Sports Center before, Salisbury put in his picks for next weekend.

Falcons, Vikings, Colts and Steelers.

He was pretty close to an each way with the Falcons/Rams, but quite confident with the others.

Sorry if this has been discussed already but I didn't see it during the game(was doing family stuff and only casually glancing at the game while it was on TV).

Randy Moss is now in trouble for PRETENDING to moon the audience? For PRETENDING to pull his pants down? WTF has this country become? Where were all these people when Randy Moss was FOR REAL giving handicapped children balls after scoring touchdowns, etc?

Give...me...a...fuckin...break.

Anyway wouldn't a Randy Moss vs. Terrell Owens game this upcoming Sunday have been somethin?

Was listening to ESPN Radio this morning... Favre apparently told his coach after the game he's done with football.... coach told him to take a few months off to think about it... THAT'S how distraught he was... wow.

And what an embarrasing performance... 4 INT's? Hey say what you want about Boller....

Favre? Thinking about retiring? Welcome to 2002, 2003, and 2004.
I've been listening to all this moss crap since last night on ESPN radio, and even this morning on the local shows. The local guys seem to have no problem with it, although the writer they're talking to (John McClain, no, not that one, this one) seems to want to tie him up and burn him at the stake.

Yeah but apparently Favre and the coached talked IMMEDIATELY after the game.... for a good 40 min according to Mike and Mike on ESPN Radio.... but yeah this isn't the first time Brett's talked about heading out... and with all the personal stuff in his life.... would anybody really be surprised if he hung it up?

I didn't think the Moss thing was bad at all. Typical of the media to overstate something and then jump all over a guy like he's satan in pads. Tom Jackson isn't overly happy about it, he launched a tirade against Moss today. We all heard Joe Buck completely overreact. Cripes. :rolleyes

:( Damn you Jets. You can't do shit against the Pats or Pitt. Why fucking waste our time next week.

You know, all week long I heard how the Chargers were this unstoppable juggernaut of an offense and that they should be considered one the elite teams in the league. Every other second on ESPN, some idiot commentator was picking SD in a blowout. Actually, your comment pretty much captures public opinion leading up to that game. Well, now we're playing with house money and our confidence is through the roof. Chad's got his game back (and didn't I mention the horrible SD secondary earlier in this thread?) and Abraham looks to finally suit up for us, which would be a huge pyschological boost for our "D".

I don't worry about our run D at all, so take that out of the equation. If we can make Big Ben look as pedestrian as he did in our 1st meeting, then we'll win. No stupid penalties, no turn-over's, a lot of Lamont Jordan (Steelers will have a hard time stopping both him and Martin) and Chad just has to be good, not necessarily great. Again, a lot of this banks on pressuring Roethlisberger since our secondary will get exposed if he has all day to chill in the pocket.

Look, all I know is that there's one team here that's been to the brink of hell and back again. And they're bringing some destiny with 'em.

Jets have no chance against the Steelers... zip, zilch, nada.

And with that being said, anything can happen on Sunday. ;)

For those of you who saw it live, was Moss pretending to moon the crowd or was he mocking defecating on the field but his teammate cut it short by hugging him before he could complete the act?

He was pretending to moon the crowd from what I saw.

Yeah at the present he is a moron, but I don't think the haters should act like he was always playing like a bum (like Plummer). Emmit Smith is not even an average running back anymore, but he was one of the greatest in his prime.

Time for Green Bay to start training his successor if they are smart.

Yeah and it is a shame for the Pack that the Bears stole Favres planned successor from right under their nose!

Pack blew their chance this year. With Ron Turner back in Chi Town the Bears will become, at worst, a mediocre offense. And that is all the firepower we need to win the division! Grossman back and healthy, protected under this new scheme, and the division is ours!

Now, onto the divisional games, I'm taking the Falcons and Vikings and the Colts and Steelers!

If I get any prediction right I hope it is the Colts winning! I want the Pats to go down! New England is getting too many titles lately!

this weekends upcoming winners:

colts
jets
vikings
falcons

you heard it here first ladies, the steelers are this years 2003 chiefs and 2001 bears. someone had to say it guys... someone had to!

It was that bizzarro missed FG that cost the chargers the game more than anything else. Their defense was never dominant, just good enough to keep the offense without a lot of pressure.

I really don't see the jets advancing. While Pennington is a good QB and their defense is ok, the steelers are going to be well rested for next week. I also think the eagles will beat the vikings - it's not that the vikings couldn't pull an upset, it's just that the eagles' defense is, like the chargers', good enough, and they can pressure Culpepper and force some fumbles more than likely.

As far as the colts... I'm not going to jinx anything. I just hope Tom Brady has a speech ready for after the game.

Er...

I was one of the guys that picked the Chargers and didn't give the Jets a chance. The Chargers had improved so much since week two that something had to give. But... it was a lucky OT victory that was a result of a missed chip shot FG. If you want to gloat about that go right on ahead. It says something that the Jets let the Chargers climb back up into the game after being ahead 17-7. How many teams did they shut out in the second half this season?

Problem is, Chargers played the Jets in week 2 before then, the Steelers had played the Jets in week 14. Neither team has changed much since then. But hey, maybe the good Chad will show up this weekend.

All I'm saying is that the Jets have put up crappy numbers against good D's. And then just look at the stats in the Rams game, the Seattle game, the game on Saturday, they can give up a good amount of points to good offenses.

Oh come on, we all know the game really ended at 17-10, but it just happened that Barton was possessed by the spirit of Mark Gastineau at the wrong time. I'd say the Chargers were the lucky ones to even make it to OT. Give any team 5 downs at goal, I don't care if it's a roster of paraplegics, they'll score 7 eventually. But hey, it's all love for Barton now. He did his best to prolong the Jets history of agony, but we overcame it. What, first playoff road win in over 2 decades? Smiles and sunshine, for me, man. Smiles and sunshine. :)

:lol

We'll see. I am cheering for the Jets this weekend.

My picks for next week:

AFC

Steelers 28 - Jets 10
- For good teams that bye week is invaluable. The Steelers defense had 3 weeks to get healthy and we will see the difference from the first snap. This will be a boring game in the 2nd half with the Steelers running on all 3 downs and letting their defense win it.

Patriots 38 - Indy 35
- As much as it hurts me to pick the Pats, I think the bye week is also going to come up huge for them. Indy is going to lose not because of Manning, but because Pats special teams and defense will make a few plays that will be the difference in the game. Add in Dillon keeping the ball out of Manning's hands and it will be enough, barely. Peyton I am praying you prove me wrong and beat the Pats by 49 points instead. :D

NFC

Minnesota 21 - Philadelphia 17
- I have no faith in Stinkston to finally grow a pair in time for this game. The Eagles should win this game easily if their offense is even half decent against a not so good Vikings defense, unfortunately the Philly recievers look like punks once again.

Atlanta 20 - St. Louse 17
- Atlanta's defense and a few big running plays by Vick seal the deal.

I have no confidence in my NFC picks, all 4 teams are so flawed that I wouldn't put money on any of them.

Im still amazed at all these tv anaylists picking the vikings. With our starters we have not lost to an nfc team, all but 2 of which were blowouts. We are at home, we are well rested while the vikings have a ton of injuries including a gimpy moss who we shut down when he was healthy, our team is MUCH improved over last year on both sides of the ball even without TO and the 8-8 vikings only have like 3 wins out of 28 games outdoors. There is no way they win that game if Farve didnt hand them 4 interceptions, something mcnabb wont do. Our defense is too good, minnesotas isnt good enough, this game will be a BLOWOUT.

Finally someone who isnt jumping on the viking bandwagon just because they are the flavor of the week.

Jaws: Great Matchups
"I think this is a great matchup for the Eagles. The Vikings are coming in all beat up -- strong safety Corey Chavous is out with a broken arm, running back Moe Williams won't play because of a sprained ankle and Randy Moss was limping badly late in that Green Bay game.

"Besides that, I think the Eagles match up very favorably against Minnesota. I don't think the Eagles will have any problem winning this football game, I really don't.

"The matchups are so good for the Eagles. They should win this game comfortably.

I agree the Eagles should win the game and I wouldn't be surprised if it was a blowout, but I just have no confidence in Stinkston and the other Eagles recievers. This could look like the Seahawks loss if they blow it.

We have been there before with these same recievers and won. That seems to be the big issue, how will the eagles play without TO. Last year when westbrook was healthy they were one of the top offenses in the NFL. Mcnabb will pick up any slack with his running ability. At least vegas is on my side, Eagles are 10 point favorites. :)

i've been saying that all year. bionic and all the other steeler fans know i have been. this sunday starts their trying to prove me wrong.

they may beat the jets, but i wouldn't bet on them. i still maintain they won't get to the superbowl.

and to show some public opinion of moss's celebration, espn's poll was something like 60% thought it was funny, 20% had no reaction, 10% were shocked, 10% were disgusted.
and the front page poll shows 73% of people weren't offended. fuck you, joe buck and friends.

seriously though, this is a MUCH worse blow-up than the TO MNF deal earlier. this is downright ridiculous

and i wonder what douche sportswriter voted for Vick for MVP. YOU RUINED THE UNANIMOUS DECISION YOU CUNT. ...but 47 out of 48 MVP votes for Manning is still fine.

Fucking hell. I can't believe they're probably going to fine Moss for pretending to moon.

Not only that, the poll results at Yahoo show that 59% of people think his actions were inappropriate. Insane.

People are so fucking uptight i really cant believe it. I have not seen one Touchdown celebration that i have been affended by or thought that it was wrong to do it. Randy should dispute the fine just for the hell of it because its the players like him, as well as T.O, Chad Johnson, Joe Horn, and whoever else that can be themselfs and celebrate with the skills to back them up.

The only touchdown celebration that I ever thought was a bad idea was when T.O. ran to the Dallas 50 yard line. It was funny but I can see why there was hate for that one.

You have been picking against the Steelers for the last 5 weeks and you have been dead wrong every single time. Injured? We win. Behind? We come back and win. Take out our starters and play our scrubs against a team that has to win? We STILL dominate.

They obviously won't ever prove themselves to you even when they win the Superbowl this year. I am serious when I say this Steelers team is one of the best teams I have ever seen. They are complete at every facet of the game. Offense, Defense, and Special Teams. Plus we have experience of going deep in the playoffs so they won't be intimidated Saturday. We lost that game in New England 3 years ago because our QB was a total turd, but even when they could have quit after going down 14 (both TDs scored from NE special teams) that Steelers team never quit and played the whole game. A lot of people are way too infatated with offensive powerhouses that are creampuffs at the other facets of the game. Does Indy blow some teams out (especially at home)? Yes and they look great doing it, but that way of playing doesn't work nearly as well outside in the cold and it sure as hell didn't get Indy as many wins as Pittsburgh and we beat better teams along the way as well.

You can sleep on us all year long, just remember to eat those words once we are in the Superbowl against some joke NFC team.

RandyMossMoon2.gif

I don't think Moss is actualy mooning the crowed. To me it looks like he is taking his pant off and wiping his ass on the goal post.

I'm by no means jumping on the Vikings bandwagon (although I've worn the purple and gold many times before--my school had the Vikes as their team name)...but Randy Moss's picture is just too classy to not have up for Playoff Season.

lol falcon fans on the official falcons message board are so ignorant it's funny. All they can say is "VICK R SO AWESOME VICK WILL PWN UR DEFENSE"

They also all seem to think they have a superbowl berth wrapped up. We'll see on saturday tho. Go easy on em marc :D

Tony Dungy said that the Moss mooning thing was an inside joke.

Green Bay fans have this tradition.

They line up along the fences at the player entrance and moon the buses as the visitors leave. He said Randy's had seven years of that and gave it back.

I thought it was weird, but after Dungy's explanation, it's hilarious and definitely appropriate. Nobody but Vike fans gave them a semblance of a chance to come into the Packer Hallowed ground, and they did, winning convincingly. Fair's fair:P

I'm sure any of the other playoff teams message boards are not too much different. Marc should catch hell in that dome Sat night. Like I told you earlier, our front four feed off our crowd something serious and they are hungry.

It was somebody who works for Fox, Bradshaw announced it last night.

And did TheDuce really just post a quote from Jaws about how the Eagles are going to win? That's it. I wanted them to get to the Super Bowl and get their asses whipped again by the Steelers, now I just want to see Randy Moss and his cohorts shit all over the Eagles this weekend. February is too far away.

I've visited a lot of rival fan forums this year, the falcons board has some of the dumbest, most ill-informed fans i've seen. No offense. 75% of them seem like vick bandwagon hoppers.

And yes, you guys have one of the best front 4's, maybe front 7's in the NFL. I gave you guys props for this a few times this season. But bulger has been playing so well, I just don't think you're gonna stop him. Steven jackson should be involved more this time as well. in week 2 he was still returning kickoffs lol. The big question is, can we stop vick from picking up 1st downs at will? We couldn't last time, and it killed us in the 4th quarter.

The only thing I'm worried about is Bulger getting too much time and then Bruce, Holt, and I forgot the name of you guys 3rd receiver eating up our secondary. Our run defense should be able to handle Stephen Jackson. He didn't show me that much against Seattle.

I wouldn't doubt your coomments about the fans on our message boards. That's why I don't hangout over there.

vick won't actually be the one that wins or loses the game for the falcons (though he'll get all the credit and none of the blame in each outcome) even though the team plays way differently with him in. it'll actually be their defense, assuming it can make some big plays.

Yeah steven has been injured the past few games. He hurt his ribs early last week and looked really tentative in hitting the holes. If he's healthy, he'll give your defense all it can handle.

Kevin curtis and shaun mcdonald are our 3 and 4, with dane looker as our 5. We have excellent depth at WR. If bulger gets time, he can hit any of these guys for a big gain.

Holt and curtis are the deep threats tho, with bruce and mcdonald working the shorter and intermediate routes. How good is your secondary?

soulja, the falcons secondary and defense is a lot like the 49ers was last year. the falcons dont have nearly the LB group we have, but they do have a superior DL than us. the DB play is arguably even. but, as you know, mora likes to blitz. if you take a look at the last 3 games mora has played against you, he has blitzed the living shit out of you and it has worked. we lost a game we should have won in OT, we beat you 30-10, and the falcons beat you 34-17. i would be worried most about your offensive line, because i know they are banged up, and there is NO WAY the falcons aren't going to bring the heat early and often
