The NX Prediction / BSpeculation / Fanxiety Thread

At that point there's been so many leak, i think if i was Nintendo, i would surprise people by not announcing the announcement today but revealing it directly.

Hey it's not like the medias won't be ready nor watchful lol. Nobody will miss it don't worry, just say on twitter "NX reveal in 3 hours", everyone will hear about it.

I think it was the Mario Kart 8 Direct (or another game), that came out of nowhere.

That was crazy.

I hope that Emily is legit, it looks actually likely that Nintendo will reveal real name and shape of NX this week, inviting everybody to watch the full reveal next week

I can't tell now. Lots of people have been saying RDR sequel for NX exclusive.

It's possible for NX to get a port but exclusive? Regardless of it being a joke it wouldn't happen. Even though the salt it would generate would be bigger than Bayonetta 2 for Wii U.

This is highly unlikely.
Come on.

Reaching quite a bit there, the previous game sold 14 million copies.
Assuming 20 bucks a copy to the publisher (maybe generous) that's 280 Million.

Popularity has risen hugely since then, for sure.

GTA V made $1b in it's first 72 hours - that's before the PC / Xbox One / PS4 port that have sold gangbusters too. That was also before GTA Online, which by April of this year had brought in $500m alone in microtransactions. And they lose far, far less of that $500m than they did the other $1b.

There are better ways for Nintendo to burn through their money.

No, the chances of RDR being NX exclusive are nil, I was just disagreeing about the 1.5 Billion minimum lost profit.
Of course it won't be a NX exvlusive, actually i think it won't even come to NX, i guess the big third party exclusive for NX will be Beyond Good and Evil 2, rumors about it have been too loud lately to npt be true

RD3 exclusive has a below zero chance of happening. I wouldn't be surprised if Nintendo have got dibs on the game's reveal though.

does it?

Emily has some insider knowledge but that has to be limited.

my guess is that she knows "NX" will be uttered out of nintendo representatives' mouths these coming days.

going from that to a full blown reveal right now, seems like a set up for dissappoitment.

for all we know they can announce a delay of the announcement to 2017...

we are sooooo not out of the woods here.

RDR could be revealed at the NX announcement, but it won't be exclusive. It could be time-exclusive, like Rayman Legends was supposed to be, or console-exclusive (with low chances) not nothing more.

What would be surprising, would be RDR for the NX. That would be too much already.

That's retail sales, publishers only gets 30% of that.

I think it was the Mario Kart 8 Direct (or another game), that came out of nowhere.

That was crazy.

The NA Micro Direct that announced Chibi-Robo: Zip-Lash and Mario & Sonic Rio in the west was just uploaded without any fanfare. The Japanese Direct the day prior (which featured the same games) was announced a day or two prior.

For reasons unknown they did it like that and not have both be simultaneous. *shrugs*

I would be beyond shocked if Nintendo secured a RDR2 reveal. That is completely unlike them.

Speculation of RDR2 being exclusive to NX is downright humorous.

People need to seriously stop talking about Red Dead being on NX. Rockstar has had the most miniscual relationship with Nintendo in the past. Don't even entertain the thought of their next AAA game hitting a Nintendo platform.

You have a better chance of Bethesda jumping on board with NX than you do Rockstar.

If it happens, be pleasantly excited. If it doesn't happen then at least you wouldn't have gotten your hopes up.

Ugh why oh why has nothing been announced yet. I look forward to potentially new news everytime I come on my break at work. Damn you Emily playing with our feelings like this.

Yeah, I'm hugely wrong there.

But that's 1/3 of $1b for the first 3 days of retail, and I think they sold pretty well on PS4 / Xbox One / PC. A fair chunk of those will also be digital (especially true of PC), where the cut is far more favourable for the publisher.

And as for the $500m in microtransactions, they're losing relatively little there too.

My maths is shit, but it's not wrong to say that it's out of Nintendo's league.

IF RDR is announced alongside NX, it won't be an exclusive of any kind. Rockstar relies too much on getting their games on as many platforms as possible. That's how they get insane revenue from GTA. Think, people.

If you look at my avatar long enough, you can find hints for the big 3rd party exclusive.
FART...FAERT....FAGERT....FAGENT....AGENT

Are people seriously considering R* might get on board with Nintendo? I can't even imagine red dead 3 being on NX, let alone an actual exclusive or even timed DLC.

I will of course eat my helping of crow if I'm wrong.

I can actually see some kind of GTA port of sorts if NX's online and performance are up to current standards.

RDR maybe following if rockstar sees there's a fanbase.

$530m (estimation based on $500m in April) x 0.7 (30% digital storefront cut) = $371m

65 million units (as of May 2016) x $35 average purchase price x 0.333 = $758m

Add it together, you're looking at well north of $1b for a Rockstar exclusive for Nintendo. I will literally catch, cook and eat a crow if I'm wrong. RD3 will not be a Nintendo NX exclusive.

Remember back before Wii U launched people convinced themselves it would get GTAV and there's no way Nintendo would not let the biggest game of that gen not show up on their system?

Im glad everyone was right. I spent countless hours enjoying GTAV on my Wii U.

guys, please don't do this to yourselves. You're better than this.

Neither the fanbase or more importantly technical capabilities may exist on the NX. Do you really think between PC/PS4/XOne that NX is a viable market for Rockstar games?

It even was a launch title, they just changed the name to Lego City...

Yup and I don't believe we are even discussing it. We are talking about a game that will easily sell 10 millions, maybe 15 on all platforms.

I don't see the reveal happening today since Nintendo will need to give some time to reveal the NX. It could get announced today or tomorrow about the date of the reveal.

The only way Nintendo is ever getting decent Western Third-Party support is if they can either match or exceed what Sony and Microsoft are offering in term of hardware and services.

Not similar, not equivalent. MATCH.

Well they did develop Manhunt 2 of all things for the Wii so it's not like R* + Nintendo is a completely unrealistic thought.

They tested the massive Wii and NDS markets and walked away dissatisfied. That's why the Wii U and 3DS got nothing. NOTHING.
