if it has a competitive price($199-$249) they might say it out loud.
if they are aiming $299 or $349 and if the hardware's innards are weak, then they will keep their mouth shut til the very last moment to try and build hype and justify the price.

No not over, but today is the most likely scenario. usually they announce a direct more than 24 hours in advance, and, to my knowledge, they don't do it on weekends, or at the very least, they don't do it often.
Given this information, they have a window between today and tomorrow to announce a direct. If tomorrow passes and nothing was announced, then I would say the timeline is over.
Apologies for freaking out earlier, I really don't follow the announcement times closely. And even further apologies for messing up the time in Japan by one hour.

I think following twitter whispers in regards to gaming news is an error. Rumblings about the 3DS and revisions mostly came from the Japanese Press, not twitter.

Yeah, they are usually confirmed in japan very late.
NoE almost always announces Directs first and that happens at 2PM, 3PM or 4PM CET. First chance is in 89 minutes.

It's possible for NX to get a port but exclusive? Regardless of it being a joke it wouldn't happen. Even though the salt it would generate would be bigger than Bayonetta 2 for Wii U.

They would literally need to pay Rockstar over $1.5b. That's not me being facetious - they'd be losing out on that amount minimum in sales / microtransactions if the game weren't available on other platforms.

Reaching quite a bit there, the previous game sold 14 million copies.
Assuming 20 bucks a copy to the publisher (maybe generous) that's 280 Million.
That's what it's looking like right now.
At that point there's been so many leak, i think if i was Nintendo, i would surprise people by not announcing the announcement today but revealing it directly.
