:lol I love the OP

I'm not going to pick up GH5 but I like what they've done with the Avatar support and I give them props for carrying other songs from the previous games.

Before, I think the timing kinda favoured being early. It was like a GH3 flashback.
I'll adjust to whatever timing they decide to use this time. All I ask for is that I get a guitar that doesn't auto-deploy SP.

I've had around ten plastic guitars on PS2 and 360 and I think only two or three didn't do that shit.

Disable the tilt sensor, get used to hitting the back button!

I tried that during the first few days of GHWT. I would miss 10 notes in a row every time I went to hit the button.

* I stand up and screw around when I play.

Baker said:

I'm the same.

I also find that SP would activate seemingly at random sometimes (but not too often now), or it won't activate unless the guitar is practically vertical, or I'd activate it and whatever note I'm hitting registers as a miss (or in the case of a sustained note it acts as though I've let go of the fret button).

Annoying as all hell, but not restricted to GH, but happens in RB too. So it's probably down to the way I'm holding the guitar.

Some dude on Xbox.com forums says regarding WT export:

You do not need the disc, only the code on the manual. My download was 1.27GB. There's a seperate download for GH:Smash Hits (Greatest Hits if you're not in the US) and one for Band Hero. The DLC also has a small download.

The list of songs I'm seeing right now is as follows:-

About a girl - Nirvana
Are you gonna go my way - Lenny Kravitz
Band on the Run - Wings
Dammit - Blink 182
Demolition Man - Sting
Do it Again - Steely Dan
Everlong - Foo Fighters (handy for a chord based bonus challenge for ESP sponsor gig!)
Heartbreaker - Pat Benatar
Hollywood nights - Bob Seger and the silver bullet band
The Joker - The Steve Miller Band
The Kill - 30 Seconds to Mars
L'Via L'Viaquez - The Mars Volta
Lazy Eye - Silversun Pickups
Livin' on a Prayer - Bon Jovi
Love Spreads -The Stone Roses
The Middle - Jimmy Eat World
Never Too Late - The Answer
No Sleep Til Brooklyn - Beastie Boys
Obstacle 1 - Interpol
One Armed Scissor - At the Drive-In
One Way or Another - Blondie
Our Truth - Lacuna Coil
Overkill - Motorhead
Re-Education Through Labor - Rise Against
Santeria - Sublime
Shiver - Coldplay
Soul Doubt - Nofx
Spiderwebs - No Doubt
Stillborn - Black Label Society
Stranglehold - Ted Nugent
Sweet Home Alabama - Lynyrd Skynyrd
Today - Smashing Pumpkins
Toy Boy - Stuck in the sound
Up around the Bend - Creedence
You're gonna say yeah - Hushpuppies

Completely reputable, I know.

But if true, weak. At least we get Do It Again.

Taking this to the GH thread where it belongs:

Somebody find out the labels of all those bands.
Universal: Nirvana, Blink 182, Sting, Steely Dan, The Mars Volta

EMI: Lenny Kravitz, Pat Benitar, Bob Seger, Steve Miller Band, 30 Seconds to Mars, Foo Fighters

Apple: Wings

A quick check of the first couple artists. No point in continuing. Too bad Warner wouldn't license anything.

That list is kinda underwhelming so far... SO FAR.

They said they'll be updating it as things are finalised, so I'm sure it'll grow to some extent.

Also, I wonder how this bodes for Greatest Hits (or was the licencing for that a done deal to begin with?).

So what's all this about Warner and the licensing?

Warner has been notoriously shitty about music licensing since late last year, which had slightly affected Rock Band's DLC for a bit. Things appear to be patched up between MTV Games and Warner now (if Green Day is anything to go by), but I wouldn't be surprised if they're still being dicks.

Sony seem very suspicious by their absence. Foo Fighters look to be EMI from my brief research (Colour And The Shape released on Capital, which is part of EMI).

Universal are obviously a no-brainer, Activision and Universal are part of the same happy family.

Yeah, I screwed that one up.

Nobody Sony or Warner made it, if this list is to be believed.

This is good news (sorta) for me, as now I only have to find a copy of SHits for export. I can't believe how fucking terrible that list is. The only good songs are Do It Again and Sweet Home Alabama.

Would you pay $1.50 for each as DLC?

Buy GHWT now, note the serial, sell it back, then use the serial super quickly as soon as the game goes live.

well lets hope that they keep working on those deals, i think some of the music companies are just getting greedy with the $$ the games move and think they deserve more.

I don't know of any place where I can buy a game, open it and then return it. I think my best bet is going to Blockbuster and trying to find a GH:WT manual to steal. I would not buy the game for this horseshit export list.

Somebody send a tip to Kotaku.

I had almost picked up a copy of Smash Hits this past week, too. No Cult of Personality, Godzilla, Killer Queen, Mother, Trippin' on a Hole in a Paper Heart would really be crushing.

I guess I'll have to be content with Play With Me, No One Knows, and Free Bird.

Well, Sony Music... the way big companies work, I don't know if the PlayStation people are even aware that Sony publishes music too.

I'm just going to write down the SH codes next time I'm at Family Video.

I'll snag the WT ones too and hold them for ransom. :D

Thanks to RB, I've pretty much ignored most of the GH:WT DLC, and am thinking I should start stocking up. The ones I have (off the top of my head) are:

The Bitter End
Nirvana pack 01
Death Magnetic
All the freebies.

I know I have a few more, but the titles escape me at the mo and I'm at work so I can't check. What can you guys recommend I start looking at?

Archie said:

I remember reading somewhere (RB thread probably) that those were fun. I'll have to look into it.

And it also reminds me that either RB or GH needs some Reel Big Fish, Take On Me or Beer would be awesome fun to play/sing.

Steely Dan.
Classic Rock Pack.
Smashing Pumpkins.
Eagles.

What I like, anyway. Just check Wikipedia or something and see.

Any list for the GH:smash hit import yet?

Not yet. Look at the tracklist, figure out which songs are by Universal and EMI, and you can bet they'll export. Sony, Warner. Not so much. Other songs? Possibly.

While we're talking GH DLC: Bloodmeat by Protest The Hero is awesome. As is the James Bond Theme.

The Smash Hits export should look like this, assuming no Sony or Warner:

"Caught in a Mosh"
"Free Bird"
"Freya"
"Heart-Shaped Box"
"Hey You"
"Hit Me with Your Best Shot"
"I Love Rock 'n Roll"
"Message in a Bottle"
"Miss Murder"
"Monkey Wrench"
"No One Knows"
"Nothin' But a Good Time"
"Play with Me"
"Psychobilly Freakout"
"Raining Blood"
"Rock and Roll All Nite"
"Take Me Out"
"Thunder Kiss '65"
"The Trooper"
"Unsung"
"Woman"
"YYZ"
