The Official Burnout Paradise Thread. Restarting Events Patch!

Always-honest said:
exactly. Burnouts physics/ car handling are the best in any arcade racer imo. it just works so damn well. i think it would have been perfect for GTA4. the cars are just frustrating for this kind of game.. hell, i even had to restart a mission because i drove a truck of a bridge.. just because the damn thing wouldn't steer as much as i liked. and the constant spinning at races... took away some of the fun.. and that's a shame.

Never understood this. Spinning in races? Are you using the handbrake instead of the ordinary brake or something?

I think he's talking about the cars that have too much acceleration and will fishtail if you try to gun it.

Seen this @ walmart today to $39, what do you guys recommend this or orange box/
Depends if you're more into (or burnt out) on shooters or racers. I've played about 70 hours on paradise and with all the dlc content this year will increase that. It's a great game with addictive online features. For 40 bucks you'll get your moneys worth if you're into the whole "Burnout" vibe.

i bought both and didnt really get into half life 2 (i dont know why cuz i know its revered as one of the best games of all time) so i personally would choose burnout. but for most people they would prob say orange box.

Lots of sound fixes, improvements. Must have been a rushed part of the game when it went for release in January.

Why would they get rid of multiple rounds? It always pissed me off when the races were only one round.

Here's a quote from the Criterion website on why there are no more rounds in ranked races:

Most 5-round races don’t end with the same number of players that started. Many players disconnect, when they feel like there's no chance of winning, so we've got rid of the concept of rounds.

Now, you can't get locked into a 5 round race without knowing where the races are going and you can select a car that suits the race and your driving style. It also means the scoring system reacts after every race, so it's quicker and if you do disconnect, you only lose your results for the race you were on.

Have a fun! Enjoy!

- Background installation so within 15 minutes every section of the world is on your hard disk

I wonder what are the consequences of this. Game is already streaming his stuff fine from the disk. Maybe speeds up junkyard car selection and game start up time?

There's a lot of improvements in that update.

I like the classical music, so it'll be good to have it in the regular playlist. If you don't like any of the songs, just take them off your playlist.

Holy shit. Impressive update. I still haven't gotten the game yet... I think my girl got it for father's day or my b-day though.... *crosses fingers*

I just picked this game up for cheap and I'm pretty excited to try it out. It's pretty awesome to see that they're constantly making improvements to it. Should be a blast.

I'm honestly hoping this is in preparation for a FUCKING RETRY OPTION.

Still love the game though :lol

That makes a lot of sense. Their issue with the retry was load times.

Get both... if you can afford them both now. Orange Box is unjustly criticized on PS3... HL2 looks gorgeous on PS3 and so does Portal :D.

I think they could, if only because they included the same "achievements" that the 360 version had. Like they said on the Giant Bombcast - Criterion could have the game look at your save and say, "well, they did this so that's a gold," etc.
