Wow, m0dus really is going all-out. We'd synced on high-level plans but he kept mum on the details. I knew we were in for a treat, but I didn't realize it would be a kitty treat.

I finally had time to finish the interview with Bungie's UI designer. Another notable quote:

Evil Otto: I used to do everything in Halo 1 and 2, so back then, writing up specs took a huge chunk of time, and even then I didn’t make them thorough enough (that’s why there aren’t completed difficulty shields in the level select screen in Halo 2 like there were in Halo 1). All of Halo 2's problems seem to boil down to 'We're going to need a bigger dev team', and then the difficulty of co-ordinating said team.
 
I've got 800 spare points around and I'm thinking of changing my gamertag (Wanderman, which most people think I mispelled and don't get the double meaning of anyway) to match my gamerpic. Which of these sounds the best:

"Marty's Mullet"

"Mulleted Marty"

"Mullet" (though I'm sure it's taken. I would probably have to use the lame mu11et spelling)

or any other suggestions. The more ridiculous, the better! :lol

Yeah, a lot of it seemed to come down to growing pains. They scaled up the studio rapidly and also increased the scope and ambition of the sequel, a chaotic combination.

I see it more as, "Dr Marty and Mr Mullet."

What's the character limit for a Gamertag?

Would "Marty and the Mullet" fit?

(The first one's obviously a spin-off of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hide, whereas the second one's a revision of Pinky and the Brain.)

Heh, yeah, both the first and second are my accounts. However, the first one'll soon be deleted, I'd imagine, as it hasn't been used in a while. It was created using an email that I no longer use. I'm Doodlebug MkII.

Your profile name or gamertag can be from 1–15 characters (a–z, A–Z, 0–9, and space), it must begin alphabetically, it cannot end in a space, and it cannot contain two spaces in a row.

Just added to the OP, at the end under "interviews", BTW (after you posted).

I'm planning to shift the content around a lot as we get closer to launch to make the important stuff stand out more.

-Around launch I'll condense the section on the contents of the SKUs to a single line, with links to the pics and content descriptions.

-On the 23rd when the online review embargoes go up, I'll delete the "previews" section and just park the Gamerankings link there and let them compile them as they roll in. I'll keep the interviews as I don't think those really expire (and might even be interesting to read after the fact).

-Hopefully official stuff comes from Bungie ala the Beta FAQ and Halo 2 launch guides, so my yibberings on the features will be links to their stuff.

All that should help keep the OP cleaner over time. My goal with the first iteration was to give people lots of stuff to read/look at. :)

Yeah, you can only have 15 characters. Kinda sucks. (I was going to have "Maestro of the Mullet" :lol )
 
Holy Hell, I'm late to this party. Ghaleon, DAMNED NICE JOB with the OP. I really appreciate all the work you're putting into the thread and into the GT thread as well. M0dus, you've outdone yourself, yet again. Nice job on graphics. Btw, is that cat the "I not good with computers" cat?

I must say I'm a tad disappointed by the vanilla thread title. I was expecting some sort of subtitle--Finish The Fight, etc. Perhaps you should recruit BB, he's very good at catchy thread subtitles.

I like it. It's understated elegance. An exercise in simplicity. It's the quiet storm hovering over Africa, awaiting the commencement of epic happenings.

I played Halo 1 a while ago and just ordered Halo 2, so I'll be in the mood to finish the fight at the end of this month. Plus I read 2 ends rather abruptly, so I won't have to wait long to find out what happens. Gonna try out mp too, in which I'll most likely get creamed because of my zero experience in Halo 2 mp and 3 beta.
