Minor OP update. I added the excellent Wired article on Bungie's Halo 3 test process, in a new category called "articles", which falls between previews and straight-up interviews. It's a few weeks old but worth reading if anyone missed it.

●Wired has an excellent article on Bungie's testing process for Halo 3 - How Microsoft Labs invented the New Science of Play

I also moved the screenshots below the rest of the articles so they are no longer buried at the bottom. m0dus' wallpapers stand out enough down there that I'm not worried about'em.

Not sure if it may be offtopic, it really isnt specifically game related, but some things you may consider to add to the OP:
- Soundtrack. any info about release date; tracks or if there´s gonna be a pack with previous ones?
- Books & other media (regarding possible campaign story conections)
- merchandising?

So I already know I am taking the 25th and 26th off work...should I go ahead and take the 27th and 28th as well? I have 12 days left for the year...

Wouldn't it be better to take the 26th and 27th off due to the midnight release, or are you planning on resting up on the 25th?
:D

Speaking of I Love Bees, something always bothered me about it. Near the end you find out that
Herzog was really dead for most of the end, even though he was talking to people. Did they ever explain who was really communicating with the group?

Plasma Pistol link takes you to blank.

Load the Plasma Rifle URL and change the file link to h3plasmapistol. Luke screwed the link up. He was probably playing Madden when he updated. There's also an error in the Carbine entry. It's designated as both Type-51 and Type-52.

i might have a bankshot billards to donate to the thread, ghaleon or m0dus get at me if you have any contest ideas that need a prize

Who needs Bungie? m0dus is delivering! Holy shit, going to download that one!

I'm sorry for my heresy, it was in the heat of the moment!

Elites apparently fight alongside the marines, gathered from the dialogue snippets.

Oh yes, but it's the fact that there are treaties being negotiated... in my mind that implies that Humans and Sangheili will both be alive and well in a peace time environment after the events of Halo 3. I can't help but imagine there's more pressing matters than the minutiæ of foreign policy to attend to during the actual events of Halo 3.

It'd be nice if the OP had a listing of pre-order bonuses from each retailer.

Or is that information collected somewhere already?

I learned about Halo after learning about the Xbox (way before release)...which I was excited for because of Dead or Alive.

The old FPS games I have played previously: Doom (one or two stages) Wolfenstein (more of this but not much) and Quake 3 Arena on Dreamcast (before Quake I pretty much hated FPS games).

Two weeks before the Xbox came out I was able to buy DoA3 and Halo (which I knew would be something special...just had that feeling)...they proudly were displayed on my entertainment center in college. The same Entertainment center that housed every system from the Atari 2600 -> Playstation 2...all hooked up and available on 2 seperate TV's.

People asked what is Xbox? What is DoA? What is Halo? ...my response check back when it comes out.

The day came and people gathered...people were floored. Halo became the most played game of any system eclipsing the previous title: Super Mario Bros...

Weeks and months passed the game only got better...and soon walking on campus I could heal the familiar ethereal Halo music coming from the dorms...it was good.

To top it all off my brother who had been a gamer who would only pick up the sticks for some Street Fighter every once and again...had heard the buzz and bought an Xbox for Halo...it was legend. :D

Sorry for rambling Halo kicks ass :)
I don't know why but I couldn't help reading this part of your post to the tune of "Que Sera Sera"

....there is no way I can keep up with this thread.

Just for you, I've changed the first line of the OP to state when the last update was to it and what it was. I may not always be timely and certainly won't have everything, but it's something.

Added the six links to the Covenant weapons Halo Universe excerpts to the weapons list, and the main article to the Interviews section.

Next up: Indexing m0dus' Thread Updates.

*gets pumped to go re-listen to the I Love Bees audios and reminisce

Thanks, Ghaleon (for OP), m0dus, and BlimBlim!

Props to Tieno on his post as well)

As a firearms enthuisast and one who has gone into the number crunching on propellant energy densities and such, some of their human weapon numbers are VERY odd. But damn it's cool getting some gearhead info on this stuff.

Come on Bungie, lets see some tech specs on the Covenant dropships (old and new)! :)

You're a good man. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it, I'm sort of swamped and only being able to check here in between crunch times is sort of a hard deal.
