The difficulty and controls complaints about SMB make me question my desire to purchase it. It got just 2/5 from Modojo, and the review couldn't stress enough how frustrating the game was :\

So far Zen Pinball and Trism are locked in for purcahse. Yesterday I was dead set on SMB, but now I might get Critter Crunch or Crash Nitro Cart instead.

Don't get Super Monkey Ball!

SMB can SMB (Suck My Balls)

That MotionX game has been getting great reviews. I think that'll be next for me.

I just got a $25 itunes gift card. Does anyone know if I can use that to update my iPod Touch and buy monkey ball... or is it just good for music?

I'm 99% sure it's good for anything sold in the iTunes store (which would include apps like Monkeyball). I see no reason it would be limited to just music.

MotionX Poker has sucked me in, I keep coming back to it and playing it for ages I don't know why or where the time is going.

Just scrolled down and saw all the dice I can unlock :D :D :D

is there homebrew for the iphone?

which im assuming thats what you mean since you're asking in the game thread
GTFO!!!!!

Decided to go back to Super Monkey Ball after ignoring it for MotionX all day.

Screw that game, the controls are impossible of the early levels on easy, I could feel my grasp strengthening round the phone. Dont wana break it

Anyone having any problems with signal? I'm getting 0-1 bars of signal strength, and not receiving texts from people near me.

There is no way that Ilovecontrol app works?

Super Monkey Ball is the most frustrating game I've played in a while.
It will give a few easy levels and let you really enjoy it and be happy you got it.. Then all of a sudden -BAM- it throws some impossible fucking level at you and makes you want break your phone. Also, WTF is with the lack of calibration?

Any impressions of Zen Pinball? I've read on Kotaku that it's *really* good. Does anyone here have it yet?

The framerate is a bit shaky, there hasn't been any slowdown in the traditional sense. It's more of just the game constantly feels a bit slow. However, it hasn't hampered my enjoyment for the game one bit. Definitely recommend it. It's super easy to play... sounds nice, looks nice (aside from frame rate issues), and controls great.

Has battery life on the iPhone now become an issue for anybody else? I was playing Pinball and pressed the lock button because my phone at work rang, I forgot I had the game still on in the background of the phone, and came back to it about an hour later and the battery was halfway gone.

Monkeyball is only hampered because the game doesn't give you any feedback as to how you are holding the phone. It would be nice is there was a visual representation as to how you are currently holding the phone... maybe with some arrows on the sides of the screen or something. Every time I start a new game level I never know which way the ball is going to move because I'm never holding the phone at the proper angle. When you get the feel for game it's great fun, but the 'feel' only starts about about 15 minutes of warmup time with the game. If you quit and come back later, the feel is gone and you have to find it again.

I'm hoping developers start using some kind of saving mechanism. I was playing monkey ball and accidentally hit the home key and my game was gone when I went back. What will happen when the phone rings? It'd be nice to see certain events trigger an auto save state type of feature.

TOUCH SOFTWARE IS OUT NOW GO GOG OG OG GOGOGOG

I like AOL because it has a Final Fantasy station :D.

Many many many years ago, when digital music was just starting to hit mainstream... there still were not many ways to find new bands. I used to listen to AOL radio a lot and a few of the indie stations would consistently deliver me bands that I ended up really liking. I'll always have a fondness for it even if the rest of their services are brutal.

One thing that is neat about the AOL radio app is that it links up the CBS radio stations as well, and it can filter down your market by using location awareness. One of my favorite local radio stations is CBS owned and now I've got it on my phone at all times (AM radio station).

Im not receiving texts...this sucks

it says it controls tvs/lights ..how?

If you have a smart home then it works. Reading the description, anything with IP interface could potentially be controlled by it.

So, am I doing something wrong or can you not play Monkey Ball and listen to music at the same time?

Its been an issue with mine ever since the super easy jailbreak for 1.1.1 came out. The iPhone's battery just doesn't last when you're running programs of any kind.

There is also a fast torrent floating around.

Edit: Just make sure it's the 5a347 build, as that's the final.
The one that's floating around for Touch is 5a345. I don't know if that's the latest for Touch though. I'm still waiting for Canadian Itunes store to put the official 2.0 up for touch. They had the update button in Itunes ready when I plug the ipod to the computer, but after pressing the button, nothing would happen. Now they removed even that - it says that 1.1.4 is up-to-date. Good job Apple!

That is so lame.
Some games already suffer with framerate as it is. What do you think would happen if you were playing 320kbs MP3 on top of that? Iphone doesn't have that much CPU power, and it's shared for tasks, it doesn't have a dedicated audio decoder chip that I know of.

I understand why, but that doesn't make it any less lame.

You need a special WiFi receiver/controller unit I think. It's not a magical software, for sure :D

haha I wanted magical software.

I'm going to give my iphone until monday...if I can't receive texts from my parents, and if i continue to only have 1 bar everytime i pick the phone up, im taking it back i guess

so any chance of puzzle quest getting ported?

sounds about right to me.

I came very close to throwing my phone yesterday because of Monkey Ball. I'm already pretty horrible at the series to begin with, but this port is infuriating.
