I see two different Spore games for Iphone. One $10 the other $5. They have different file sizes as well, but go under same name: Spore Origins. What's the deal here?

One is for the iPod Classic/Nano, one is for iPhone/iPod Touch.

X-Plane 9 available up on the App Store, by Larimar Research:

X-Plane for Mac, Windows, and Linux (www.X-Plane.com) is the most flexible and realistic flight simulator on the market for desktop personal computers. Using blade element theory for the most powerful and accurate flight model available for personal computers, and earning FAA certification for logging of flight time for pilots, X-Plane is the Gold Standard for accurate flight simulation, offering realism that is unmatched by any other simulator.

And now, thanks to the power of the iPhone and iPodTouch, X-Plane is available for these stunning little platforms. As in the full desktop version, X-Plane for iPhone lets you experiment with different times of day, weather, sky conditions, wind, turbulence and airplanes, all while flying the craft from various different views in the stunning terrain topography of Innsbruck, Austria, home to some of the most challenging mountains and topography for aviation.

We here at Laminar Research are still a bit shell-shocked at how powerful this little device is, and how much power in flight simulation can be stuffed into it... the power of X-Plane can now be had with you... anywhere.

You know what sucks, the fact you can't buy shit on the app store in Canada with a gift card. Apple claims that its against trade rules or something to buy software using store credit or something
so what about eb games and all the other major retail stores
. Now there is no way I can buy the spore game (or any app that costs money) This really sucks

I didn't find out about that until I redeemed some Air Miles for $30 worth of gift cards :(

OK, how the hell does the remote app work for the touch!?! I can never get it to work!

In iTunes you go to preferences >> devices, then select the option that says "look for iphone and ipod touch remotes." From there all you have to do is launch the remote app and then you'll have to enter a 4 digit passcode to tie the two devices together. It goes without saying this is all done over wifi...

My ipod never shows up in devices, ever, unless connected but a chord. and even then I can't enter the code. I have no idea what I could be doing wrong.

So what are top three games (don't care if they're free or not) in your opinions? Just got the 2nd Gen Touch and want some games.

Oh and top three Apps as well. Or most useful.

Someone really needs to do a gamertag app. I want to be able to pull up my friendslist quickly, fire off messages, and check and reply to them. Would be sort of like what was promised at xbox launch, only finally done on a mac product. :lol

Basically xbox.com lite.
Yeah I remember their mobile app implementation. I actually got to tinker with the mobile Friends List and achievement tool along with a mobile version of Hexic. It was a really cool idea, sadly MS wasn't up to making it happen I suppose.

1337pwn released an update today that allows you to import friends directly into it rather than entering them all individually. It's not quite what Microsoft promised, but it gets a bit closer with each update. You can check out your friends, send them messages, view their achievements and so on. Works pretty nice.

Pandora Radio is my personal favorite app.

Yeah, but you have to host a text file somewhere and it gets the names from what you've typed up.

Still manually entering though I guess it's a bit faster.
And you need a quick host.

I just downloaded it, and it still fails for not putting your online friends at the top.

It's really sluggish, so having to scroll for a mile just to see if someone beginning with an 's' is online is hell.

What? I just did the import, and it's super easy. Go to their import website, cut and paste your friends list, input an e-mail address to send the file notice to, and the app pretty much does everything else. Took maybe five minutes, and now I have my entire friends list online.

Agreed. Now that I have all my friends on the list, it's even more annoying. They need to have an option to move them to the top or just show the ones online. Still, for a free app, it's pretty solid.

Don't forget, that free app was originally $8 before MS forced them to make it free. They've always seemed to be trying to find a way to make money first and make something that functions later. When they first had the web app, my initial impression of it was... ok, ads at the top and bottom of my friends list... that's nice.

I'm really not a fan of the products they make at all.

Three? Let's do five!

2 Across - great, great crossword game. Endless free puzzles to download, great interface.
LED Football - old school charm. Cheap, quick, painless.
Marple - logic puzzle, which probably takes some getting used to if you've never played it before. Lots of puzzles, good implementation of the game.
Star Trigon - SERIOUSLY BUY THIS. Underrated Namco gem from the Mr. Driller team.
newtonica - rhythm action from Kenishi Nishi. A little abstract, but if you're into quirky stuff, this may be up your street.

Apple's Texas Hold 'Em is also worth considering, as it's solid through and through.

Yeah, MS made all three of the Live apps go free or shut down. I wouldn't pay for any of them, but for free a couple of them are decent. Just not sure how much incentive they have to keep updating them. I'd love to see an official app from MS, but we all know that won't happen.

You all need to buy Star Trigon. It's from the Mr. Driller team, it works perfectly on the iPhone (since it's essentially a one button game), art and sound production values are high, and it's fun as shit. GO GO GO.
AHHH. SO AWESOME. Everyone should buy this! I own the PCB and it's great.

Line Rider iRide available $2.99

Quick impressions:

X-Plane is pretty cool!
I like the fact that there's nothing to do; just fly and relax. Motion control feels pretty good. Only downsides are that framerate chugs a little and the edges of the maps aren't disguised at all - they just end with a blue sky invisible barrier. Also sound seems buggy on my iPhone. I'm sure it'll all get sorted out soon.

Line Rider is also very, very nice. But the small screen and the somewhat low resolution when you zoom out makes me wish I was playing it on the big screen. But being able to have this anywhere pretty much makes up for everything else.

Finally made the jump to get my unlocked 1.1.3 iPhone to custom firmware unlocked 2.1 so I can now join the App Store Party!

Spore on iPhone is LOVELY!

Great little game, very suited to being portable and a good timewaster. Nice use of the iPhones features as well, being able to use your media as textures and even use the camera to take one on the spot. Really nice chilled out music as well, it's the perfect type of game for the iPhone. You can just chill out. Good use of the accelerometer for controls as well, it feels very natural. No spazzing out.

Good job EA!
(still feels weird saying that ;)

I'm in the final testing/polishing phase for the iPhone game I've been developing for a few months with a friend. Hopefully GAF will like it--if we can get it balanced, there's fun to be had. :D

I don't plan on whoring it out here, in case you wondered. At most I'll post a preview in this thread when we get approved. I'm just too excited not to mention it somewhere.

That sound nice! What kind of game is it? Or can't reveal yet?
Good luck with it!

Just picked up both Linerider and Star Trigon. Both awesome, especially Star Trigon... incredible production values.

Buy now.

Yeah I just got Star Trigon, great game. I need to pay attention when browsing the appstore. Its the ultimate impulse buy store ever.
I bought Star Trigon, Real Soccer 2009 and the discounted Galcon. Thats $25 spend in a few clicks :-) Its not much but normally I would think again before buying, even on XBLA and PSN.

Quick question...

If i have an Iphone but i'm not using it as a cellphone anymore. Can i still play the games i bought on it? Can i use all other functions?

Whoa, Galcon is on sale?
Sold.

Star Trigon is my next purchase, I looked it up and it looks fantastic.
Namco also released Pole Position Remix.
Hmm...

Has anybody tried Cro-Mag rally? It used to be $10 but they have it on sale for $1.99. I saw it had pretty good reviews so could not pass it up for the price.

I went ahead and got it too.
It's decent I suppose after you get used to the steering. Glad I only paid $2.00.

Just bought Galcon and tried it out.

Super Awesome!
