Gilded Skull's first game is out!

IMP VS. OAF!

It's 99 cents.

This looks lovely, but is clearly aimed at kids, and I won't be buying it - as much as I want to support them (because I want Galactic Keep more than anything else on the platform right now), I need to have an actual game to justify my purchases, or this all just becomes very silly indeed.

But if you've got kids, this looks like great fun.

Fuck, Itunes deleted my whole program library. Now I can redownload all that shit again. Fuck this, like I have time and the nerves to go look through my download history.

Why the hell isn't there a simply button in the store, where I can redownload everything I have bought?!

So Lumines is worth buying now?

I found the controls very responsive which was the biggest gripe with the previous version. I do kind of feel tha tthis version needs a marker to tell you where your block is going to fall before you drop it. I'm having a hard time lining up my pieces correctly.

Otherwise, it is a huge improvement over the previous version released.

My iPod Touch 1G is losing its charge - I'm talking two to three hours of music with no wifi and in hold, max. It is also out of warranty. Does anyone know if I can pay for the repair at the Apple Store and get my refurb/repair that day, or do I have to go through the mail? I'm in Canada if that makes a difference.

i'm interested about getting my 3gs repaired because i dropped it and the auto lock on in google maps is no longer accurate. i have warranty but it'd take up to 2 weeks to get it repaired so wondering if smuggle shop would be faster.

They always do this in-store - they'll give you a refurb unit for some random amount (here in the UK it's something like £127). It'll be the same make and model, but it'll be good as new, and will have a warranty.

tried Lumines Lite. It is much better now. No problems with dropping instead rotating. It feels a bit different than the PSP/360/PS3 versions, but I had no problems to reach the end of the Lite ...

Just wanted to say that MiniSquadron is awesome. I forget who said that it was like an amped-up version of the classic PC game Sopwith Camel, but that's pretty much right. It's a blast going back and retrying stages with new aircraft to see how that affects things.

Also, how is the Tiger Woods game for iPhone? Keep in mind that I love Hot Shots Golf for PSP and have never played a Tiger Woods golf game before. Will the controls drive me nuts? Does it chew battery? How many courses are in it?

I've not played Tiger, but have you tried Let's Golf on the iPhone? It's the Gameloft version of Hot Shots, and is essentially exactly the same game. It's great.

Let's Golf is fun, plenty to unlock and there is a good selection of courses, I thought it was worth it at full price when it came out which was £3.99 or something, it's half that price now.

Tiger looks worse because they went for a realistic look, they also probably spent little time on their engine so the trees are very ugly, not played it though.

So I played through Minisquadron and absolutely loved it, but I only unlocked about seven or eight planes. Can someone explain how the scoring works to me? When I down enemy planes, sometimes I get a multiplyer and sometimes I don't, and I can't figure out what determines that.

Big sale on a lot of Gameloft games.

edit: and another sale on Secret of Monkey Island, 50%

Never one to let EA steal the spotlight for very long, Gameloft also is having their own sale today with a few of their games reduced to 99¢. We're not sure how long this is going to last, so if you've been thinking about picking any of these up it probably isn't a good idea to wait as they likely won't get any cheaper than this.

Castle of Magic ($1.99 -> 99¢)
Real Tennis 2009 ($4.99 -> 99¢)
Blades of Fury ($4.99 -> 99¢)
Terminator Salvation ($4.99 -> 99¢)
Brothers in Arms – Hour of Heroes ($4.99 -> 99¢)
Shrek Kart ($4.99 -> 99¢)

Excited, much as I love supporting the iphone this is why I hold out buying a lot of stuff, it will always hit 59p at some point. Very close to buying EWJ as the new lite showed how fun the game is on the iphone, but yeah stuff like this puts me against a brick wall.

How is Galaxy on Fire? Anyone tried it? looks awesome in any case :)
Good game but limited, as in fly towards a target and hope your shields are better then theirs. It shows because it's a java mobile phone port but it does look great and run smooth so worth it if you like flying games with an ok space story.

Bought Secret of Monkey Island, Castle of Magic, Real Tennis 09 and Blade of Fury :D

How is Krazy Kart Racing ( Konami ) ?

I was going to buy it just to play as Sparkster, but checking youtube gameplay videos I decided to pass.

more reason for me to go with the 16 gig,

but i really hate the idea of paying 100 bucks for 8 gigs

eh

I'm literally about to walk out of the house to go buy an 8G ipod touch. However, I've also heard there's a difference in performance or something of the sort between the 8G and 16G models.

I too really loathe the idea of paying an extra 100 dollars just for 8 gigs... So, what's the real difference we're talking about here. Is it like PS3 to 360 versions of games or is it a true gap in performance? Can someone clear it up for me. I've been dying to go pick it up and now I really want to know before I spend my dollars.

my dock to usb cable crapped out. my usb to wall socket adapter still works. where can i buy something cheap for my iphone 3g phone?

edit: oh wait, this isn't the OT thread. balls.

There isn't a huge difference yet, but just know that the 8GB model will be obsoleted sooner than the 16GB in performance. There is not much difference at the moment, because not much software takes advantage of the better models, but they will. They've started.

I also understand the 16GB also has certain pixel shaders that the older gen aren't capable of.

As for general performance, the newer model has a newer processor that is underclocked and still faster than the older. It also has 256 MB RAM vs. 128 MB.

8GB model is the same as the 2G. Boot times for example:

Doom Classic not on sale, booh.

Since when was Doom Classic an EA game? I think the only game EA published was Wolfenstein RPG.

Anyway, I think Doom Classic, Resurrection, and Wolfenstein Platinum have disappeared from the NZStore. Odd. It says the only game done by ID is Wolfenstein Classic Lite.

you're not paying 100 bucks for 8 GB of storage. you're paying 100 dollars for 24 GB of storage. the 300 dollar model is 32 GB not 16.

plus it's way faster and has voice control.

apps load way faster and, as an example, Katamari Damaci now plays almost twice as fast as on the older hardware. it's a big difference

Battle for Wesnoth is very, very good. Definitely recommend that one, even over Rogue Planet. It has about 20x the content, as well as a much more Fire Emblem/RPG feel.

Also, I grabbed Tiger Woods for 2.99. It's also really good... great presentation and controls.

Will wait till they fix those scrolling lags that some users mentioned on TA.

I think I've heard of other people with the same problem. You might want to check the Apple forums in case they have a solution.

Me :) And yeah, that's essentially all it is... but it's so well done!

I'm pretty happy with TW, to be honest. The graphics could be a lot more polished and the difficulty could be a lot better (I'm consistently getting birdies on almost every hole) but there is an insane number of courses (seven) and it feels like a good golf game. Definitely worth getting, imo.

PS. Lumines definitely controls better... silly how you can't rotate both ways (especially if you're controlling it using two thumbs, one on each side of the screen) but it's infinitely better than it was before. So lame that I have to be running 3.1.2 though to get the full thing, even though the demo runs fine. Damnit.

Also if you were to buy the 32gig last year/last january you would have paid the same value for what now is the 8 gig device back then, my 2g can hold out for quite a while longer so I don't worry about it.

The 3Gs and 3rg gen touches are much much faster, worth it even if games don't use the VR chip yet.

I'm fairly sure that the multiplier is related to a streak of kills. As long as too much time doesn't elapse between kills, the multiplier seems to keep going.

I wish the game would keep track of your best score/time per plane, since some of them are clearly weaker and therefore make stages far more challenging. It would be fun to see how well you can do with a craptacular plane on a hard stage...not just see how easily you can dominate a stage with a very powerful plane.

i played Fore by cobra and its hard to get a good score , im still not sure about the gameplay , you swipe your finger but you need to practice your swipe .
The graphics is good and i like from the top view.

pretty much all big name publishers have damn good sales. I got Terminator Salvation (.99) since it plays so nice even if I don't care about the license/franchise.

Might get Blades of Fury for .99 but I know I'm buying something silly.

Auditorium might be a get as well since it went down $1

Did they take Ghouls & Ghosts down from the UK iTunes store, I was looking at it a couple of weeks back, but can't find it anywhere on there now?

Latest update broke something so I believe the game has been removed until the fix is up, can't remember the problem but it must be something like crashing on boot or lock-ups.

I brought Blades of Fury in Gameloft's 59p sale, is a very good portable soul calibur clone with a fairly good combat system.
