The Official iPhone/iPod Touch Gaming Thread

For anyone that upgraded through ATT, when you check your order status on the website, does it say new service? It says that on mine, but I only upgraded not added a new line.

My email confirmation says Upgrade though

Finished preordering the 32GB Black iPhone 4 from AT&T's online store about an hour ago.
My email says 'upgrade' but the order page on the website says 'new service.'

The 'new service' probably entails the new 2 year contract. (I've been out of contract for about 9 months now).

I wouldn't be too concerned.

On to more important matters.
iPhone 4 cases and screen protectors.
Any good ones available?!

I had an invisible shield from Zagg on my 3g and still looks brand new. I ordered one for the Iphone 4. A full body one is $25, but if you sign up for their Ipad Give-a-Way, theyll send you a coupon for 20-50% off. If you dont get a 50% off, just sign up again until you get 50%.

12.50 plus shipping is awesome for it. Well worth it.

Ill probably just use this and one of the bumpers.

I got through the order process on apple.com and after checking out, it says that I needed to finish the transaction at an Apple Store and they send me a reservation confirmation email to pick it up on the 24th.

Do I need to go early that day and fight with the crowd or should I expect a separate line just for reservations ?

Is Apple's online store still borked?
Just wanted to advise you guys that I had absolutely no problems processing my preorder directly from AT&T's website about 3-4 hours ago, earlier this morning.

Since it's been a while, I just double-checked my order on AT&T's website.
It's changed from submitted to processing!

My first iPhone. My first smartphone!
I'll miss my trusty Samsung clammy...
 
Not to add to the non-gaming talk here, because there's plenty of great games to be playing....

But, when I got to the checkout at ATT it told me it couldn't finish until I added a 'home' phone. So I did, and then it timed out. I haven't been able to get through on Apple or ATT :lol

In a a way it's good, it's given me something to do until the Nintendo Conference, but yikes! This process has been a disaster (for both companies). You'd figure they'd be able to figure this stuff out after doing it a couple times already.
 
If the Store is ever non-shitty today, please kindly send me a PM.

I'll be out but if it gets back up, I'll sneak away for a sec and pre-order.

You needn't go in early unless you want the phone immediately. Having a reservation means Apple will hold the phone 'til the close of business. It should state this in your reservation email, along with your intended pick-up location. If it follows from previous Apple reservations, there will be a separate line for those who have reserved.

If you do go at 7:00am, beware: ATT's servers will probably crap out at some point in the morning. I'm thinking of picking up my reserves in the afternoon to avoid early snafus. New phone lust is a powerful motivator, though.
 
Managed to secure a reservation at an Apple Store.

Hopefully, this will be faster than it was back when the 3G launched.
 
Got a reservation thanks to the Apple Store app they just put in the store this morning. Still can't get through on store.apple.com. I guess I'll deal with some lines, but hopefully it'll be as quick as last year.
 
Do you think Apple should be at E3 to be really serious about gaming? Or is that move unnecessary, maybe because they don't need the exposure or the event it too 'hardcore' oriented?

Same here. I wanted them to ship it to me but at least I have a reservation. They said they'll hold on to it until closing so I just have to make sure I go right after work. My only fear is they pull a gamestop and don't get enough phones in to satisfy all the reservations.

I don't think that happens at Apple Stores. If you're in the reservation queue and you have an email confirmation, you'll get one if you show up launch day before they close.

I read about FFT a few hours ago, but Mana too ?

I'm not interested in FFT (good game, but I won't play this again), but Mana may be cool, especially if it has multiplayer. I think it'll be a port of the mobile phone remake.

So it's practically confirmed that most Square mobile phone games will be ported on iPhone. Come on Dragon Quest II :D

I'm usually not the one to hate on AT&T as my service hasn't been bad at all but they really screwed the pooch on this one. I'm really glad I didn't pre-order at AT&T. If I recall they botched the 3GS pre-orders as well, while the Apple pre-orders were fine.

i just noticed in my reservation email that they have me down for a iPhone at $599..i'm eligible for an upgrade, but i dont wanna cancel my appt on the off chance i can't get another one. Surely I can clear this up on launch day? They have to have some way of knowing, right?
 
I hope they port the first Seiken Densetsu remake they made for cellphones to iPhone.
