It is usually 1-shot, 2-3 kill if you take advantage of penetration.

I don't think L4D is doing as good as we expect. Hope I'm wrong though, awesome game. Anyone else know how well it sold at your stores?
Right now it's just the two. I imagine they'll add the others shortly though I have no idea why they weren't enabled right off the bat.Outtrigger888 said:Are No Mercy and Blood Harvest the only campaigns you can play in versus? Or do the other 2 unlock?

What's to playtest? No Mercy and Blood Harvest are the same in Versus and Campaign, it's not like they made any balancing changes. If it works for one it should work for the other.Zeliard said:They probably didn't have time to playtest those two campaigns thoroughly enough in Versus before they had to ship the game out. You have to figure we'll see a patch that enables the two eventually.
I think the problem was that they were either not much fun for human zombies or improperly balanced with human zombies.Outtrigger888 said:Are No Mercy and Blood Harvest the only campaigns you can play in versus? Or do the other 2 unlock?

I didn't buy a disc, I got it on steam.
Depends if L4D hits a certain threshold where people buy it because they're friends are playing it. If they keep playing it, more friends buy it, and it consolidates into a base that results in a healthy community for a long time to come. If the 360 version gets the support that TF2 was promised but never got, then I can see it lasting for a long while.Martial Loh said:That might be so, but don't 360 players tend to stop playing these types of games as soon as the next big title comes out? PC players will be on this for months and months to come!
Slavik81 said:Valve has a $150 package of Left4Dead that includes 4 copies of the game that you can gift to people. That is ridiculous and awesome.
You shall eat these wordsI doubt that the total number will get too much above a few hundred thousand by the final tally a few years from now.
Fallout-NL said:35000 people bought it on pc? Is that without steam sales?

haha oh i hope this will be a real campaign
Zzoram said:That's including Steam sales. At least, if the Steam statistics tracker publicly available is to be trusted.
Well, 35,000 is just the most number of people logged on at the same time playing online. Steam sales make up AT LEAST 25,000 sales (given the number of people online 1 hour after the game came out), and at least 10,000 retail sales.
It's more than likely that the actual sales are more like 100,000+ total on PC at the moment, just that not everyone plays at the same time.
Think about it, if 35,000 people were playing at once at 8pm and that was the peak, but there's 20,000 people playing it at 5am, they likely aren't the same people.
Smoker would be fine if their recharge was about half and you could actually pull people through windows and other obstructions that really shouldn't be blocking. I've never played the boomer where I had enough time for the bile to recharge. It's hope for a hit and then make sure to explode right next to them.Trevor360 said:Smoker feels a bit weak. I think he should do damage on par with a hunter. Also, waiting for boomer bile to recharge feels like an eternity
Facism said:went to buy it on steam with paypal, but then they added tax after the checkout. Steam version will end up costing me £40 if i buy it online.
Looks like £30 retail for me.
I'll drop a message or two in the GAF steam group chat if anybody wants to play tomorrow.
Zzoram said:They add tax in the UK? They don't in Canada.
Zzoram said:It's funny how Smoker is the hardest to play, yet is generally the most deadly on No Mercy's Rooftops when you're playing against the AI, because being pulled down from where you're defending basically means death.
Woo-Fu said:Smoker requires patience that isn't worth the effort most of the time, IMHO, very situational class. Seriously, you have to decide if you're going to sit back and be that patient, hoping the stars come into alignment for you to be useful or do you just give it a basic attempt knowing that you'll most likely respawn as a class that can be more immediately effective?
Fallout-NL said:Kind of disappointing though. Landmarks like this deserve the attention a lot more than the trash that has defiled my user name for instance.
Zzoram said:I find that the Smoker is as effective as a Hunter. Both die very easily, and only really work well when attacking in groups, or a lone straggler.
GameGamer said:I think it's the gameplay vids.
The game >looks< very simple and boring.
I'm going to rent it to see if I like it, but every vid I see makes me want to pass on the game.

Haven't you tried the demo though?
Woo-Fu said:Hunter can also harass since it has such high mobility, I find it much more enjoyable to play and more effective overall.
But you are correct, every other class does best waiting for a boomer or a tank to spread some chaos around.![]()

I haven't been able to get online until yesterday (ended up with NXE after swapping drives with a friend ) and can't seem to find it.

I will give the game a chance via rental. Others may see the vids and pass because it just looks like constant rushing. Like a mod with bots turned on high.
