Yesterday I was playing with DPT, Blizzard, and Zwarmsbie. We were playing on Death Toll on Expert.
On the fourth chapter (The Town), a tank wiped everybody except me. Low on ammo and with my teammates calling out boss infected locations for me, I tried to stay alive long enough to reach a respawn closet. What was unfortunate was that the nearest closet was in the two-story office building, and I had to clear out ground areas to get there. Slowly I made progress, retreating into rooms and alleys whenever the boss infected showed up. I made it up to the second story building, into the first room from the window. I ran in too quickly, there were lot of zombies mulling around. I started getting hit, so I found a corner and started fending them off. A smoker appeared, lurching toward the window and he managed to grab me. The trapped silhouettes of my dead friends were one room away.
My weapon throughout the campaign was the M16, and I managed to get the highest headshot percentage (leading everybody else by at least 2-3 percentage points). Sniping with that thing is so bloody awesome.

Yet another small patch
"Lobby leaders can now specify in lobby settings whether to search for an official dedicated server or for the best available dedicated server. If the official dedicated search fails it will then default to the best available dedicated server automatically"
Semi-useful i guess if you can't be bothered to use ms_force. There's a rather annoying and large german server-side lagging network

people are scared of tanks again. this is a good thing.
I pulled off the craziest move in a Gaf Versus game. No Mercy on the third chapter (sewer), on the crescendo roof that smokers love to pull people off of.
There was a witch sitting on the pipe, and I ran close, intending to crown her. My flashlight was still on, and she started getting up. To make matters worse, a Smoker grabbed me in that instant and started dragging me. Spamming my autoshotty as I was dragged past the witch, I made a last ditch attempt to take her out. Somehow, I managed to get a headshot at just the right range and she died. Even better, one of my teammates freed me before I was pulled off of the rood.
Definitely the luckiest 3 seconds I've ever had in L4D.
Edit: Just got back from the Gaf Blood Harvest Versus game. Post the sick glitch video when you're not tired, Rimfin! It's seven kinds of freaky and lolsome!

, other team were like WTF happened, what happened to the witch!.Was a Gaf Vs game too, whats funny is when they tried to kill her it was start of blood harvest 3 I think, they threw a molly and they then ran back and we wiped the whole team out after that, the witch took 1 person down, two burning hunters on another two and smoker got the one that ran the furthest back.
Smoker is so much better in vs now. I always liked playing as him because it's about finding a good hiding spot and then pulling someone away, but now he's a genuine threat. A couple friends of mine and I got Safety First tonight, so now we just need to try for Nothing Special, maybe.

Type record filename in the console, then stop to stop recording, it then saves it to the Steam directory under your games files (C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\steamid\left4dead I believe?). Then, to play it back, open up the game you recorded it in and type playdemo filename.itxaka said:

My first attempt ever at messing with demo playback and recording, which should be fairly obvious by the demo playback UI ending up on the video and a huge fast-forward in the last half a second :lol Next time I'll do better (evidently I need to set slow-mo in a cvar, not the demo playback, to make recording be anything but full speed).
I'd rather not post the full demo to the public because it contains all text and voice chat I received in the game (and is at least 10x larger in filesize); people didn't know I was recording and at least one doesn't even know what the hell Gaf is so I don't know if I'd want to do that. But if someone involved in the game wants to give it a shot drop me a message and I can send you the raw demo.
BTW, player-made demos are HORRIBLY restricted and their playback is super buggy (I was not doing what was shown in that video at all). Server-side demos are where it's at, but I don't know if they've fixed them in L4D yet and we aren't playing on servers we control anyway. PS - any late-night players rocking a good connection and a quad-core (or have a second dual-core)?

Find your L4D directory (mine is steamapps/common/left4dead/left4dead--the second left4dead may have a country appended to it for you), go into the cfg directory, and find config.cfg. Make a backup, then find "toggleconsole" in there and you can change the bind to some other key. Also, the console has to be enabled in the options.itxaka said:

I think it might have been some kind of physics glitch, where the game might have tried to preserve some aspect of the momentum of both myself (hunter) and a possible jump from ezekiel (zoey).
Edit: Also, that pounce killed ezekiel instantly after he made contact with the ground. Kinda hard to see in the video.

Scarlet and I did some tests, trying to replicate the doom pounce. We couldn't, but we made an observation:
From that spot where I was was, it's child's play to make a walljump off that wall. Even more interestingly, you can make a walljump that will put you in the cornfield, even near the place where I landed yesterday via the doom pounce.
Now, I have a tendency to click when I make a pounce or am near to making a pounce, even if it isn't strictly necessary. Lunging up, I might have clicked near that wall's surface, and perhaps twisted my view around, executing a walljump. My walljump could have carried me into ezekial, resulting in a pounce that might not have actually cancelled out the walljump.

We did get this though; I had never done the "death pull", and I got it on one person, so I just wanted to try it again knock Botolf off. :lol

Well since that last gif lead to three hunters all predictably sitting at the bottom of the drop into the cornfield, I'm guessing we're going to see infected lining up over at that spot next game.
