Not only can you pounce off walls, you don't even need to pounce into them to do it. If you do it right you can run at and manually jump into a wall and immediately pounce, never having to make the crouching growl.

Woah sweet, so wall jumping does increase pounce dmg.

It'd be so great to play against these guys :D
Unless something was changed in the most recent patch, it does not. It's distance from the most recent pounce point (so not the absolute distance travelled) to the target.

I see, thanks. I thought i saw him jump between trains and some mountains in BH 4 and then pounce for 25.

I really wish I could have as much midair control as those guys, maybe then I'd actually be able to land a pounce once in a while.
It seems they do it by panning the camera around, if you see the videos the guy pretty much does a mouse-look 360 in every pounce. Could be that it's just for show though.

OMG just started playing vs this weekend and it was amazing.

Just playing the campaign is suspenseful but having human controlled special infected keeps you at the edge of your seat and on your toes constantly.

Been playing No Mercy only next weekend will be Blood Harvest.

Also I've been on team were we get like 4000 points to the 300 points other team and i've also been on the team with no mics or no coordination and get raped when stepping out of the safe room.

Can't get enough.

So, things I didn't know you could do without sv_cheat on:

Type "thirdpersonshoulder" in the console and play with over-the-shoulder view. It is REALLY awkward as a human though, and I suspect the crosshair is sometimes inaccurate.

At first I was like :O

Then I was like : /

Sounds cool, but probably not very useful.

Yeah, and if anyone else hasn't noticed, it can be used to in fact cheat in versus matches. I was able to look through walls next to my character and see boomers outside and whatnot.

It's bizarre that Valve would have made the other two third person commands require cv_cheats but not that one...I imagine they'll fix it if people use it much, though.

And I assume that this sort of cheating is legal and won't get one VAC banned, since it's just using legal normal client commands, right? :D

thats the last possible date. they have confirmed the 360 date is that date and the retail "critics choice" edition is the same date but no the PC one yet.

I thought it was believed that PC and 360 get DLC both come out on the same date and patches are the only things that are different.

If they have changed that policy... That is rather lame Valve.

well atm we have two conflicting statements:

we have one that says 360 and pc will be together along with the 360 release date being april 21st for sure now.

and we have their statement that it would be out on the pc sometime before april 21st.

which one is correct?

God damn it! My finals start on the fucking 20th and end on the 25th :/

I think you really have to ask yourself what is more important: some college exams about useless bullshit or survival training for the zombie apocalypse.

The choice is clear.

So? It's not like the content won't still be available after the 25th.

We recently updated the PC version of Left 4 Dead with some exploit fixes and Versus balancing. We are going to be releasing another small update later today that contains some server issue fixes and one small, but very large, gameplay adjustment. We have made a change to the melee mechanic in Versus and the soon-to-be-released Survival Mode.

Xbox 360 users will see these same gameplay changes in an update coming out with the DLC — which, in case you missed the announcement, will be coming out April 21st.

As we continue to work on Left 4 Dead, our plan is to release more frequently on the PC, and then group those updates for the 360.

With the upcoming release of the SDK, and the community servers already available on the PC, matchmaking is one place where the two platforms will diverge. A future blog post will detail our roadmap for PC matchmaking.

Game statistics help us evaluate the success of the changes we've made to the game. In Versus, for example, we flipped the order in which teams play the next round based on who was winning the round before it. We were confident this would help to better balance the game and give neither team a lasting advantage. That would, in turn, translate into more people playing through the final maps. Since making that change, we've noticed the percentage of games being played to the end jump 5%. It is a small increase, but a step in the right direction.

But statistics are only part of the picture. We also use direct feedback from players themselves. One of the questions people ask is if we read the forums: the answer is yes. So please post your feedback on the melee and other changes as we make them. We promise to keep listening to your feedback, making changes and improving the gameplay experience of Left 4 Dead. Remember: If you don't see an issue addressed with this update, that doesn't mean it isn't coming.

Probably melee fatigue

Hmm, not sure how I feel about melee fatigue, but yeah whatever. It should make turtling in corner a little harder, I guess.

How about they fix that melee animation glitch too.

lazy devs.

Well there are alternatives like making melee not kill infected (including regular ones), just stun them

e: I probably won't be awake when the patch is out :(

Actually only stunning wouldn't work because then the survivors could just keep meleeing the whole infected team forward with them. I suppose they could keep the special infected killable.

Hey guys, are people still actively playing this on 360? I just got it last night and would love to play with some GAFers.

Yeah, just stun normal zombs, but kill special with it still. I'd have little problem with that being the change. I just don't like the fatigue..use Boomer to get a horde, then while the team is swarmed, easy pickings for a pounce. It usually is anyway in that case, but fatigue would bring more whining imo.

About time they nerfed melee. I always thought it was balls to get meleed 10 times in the chin when playing hunter and you could do nothing about it.

Ikuu

Had his dog run over by Blizzard's CEO
About time, it's a joke how easy it is for Survivors to just sit in a closet and spam melee.

Updates to Left 4 Dead have been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. The specific changes include:

Game and client changes

- Introduced fatigue to the melee attack in versus mode. You will see a HUD display when your melee swing is cooling down

- Boomer vomit will now pass through common infected

- Addressed some surround sound detection issues

- Fixed a rare crash when exiting Left4Dead on Windows Vista

- Fixed a case where the complete all expert campaigns achievement was not being rewarded

Dedicated server changes

- Corrected an issue where Windows based dedicated were sending spurious shutdown notifications to the master causing them to delist temporarily

- Fixed dedicated servers not resetting the versus team swap correctly--you could join a dedicated server that had a previous game that was swapped and arrive on the other team than what was selected in the lobby

- Renamed the tags for sv_search_key to use "key:" in the server tags instead of "sv_search_key." This should help with issues of the 63 character limit of server tags

- Fixed an occasional server crash related to voting

woohoo.. just updated

My L4D just received an update!!

not bad. 5 swings and it then slows down to 1 second to around 2.5 seconds wait for a swing at worst.

i think its a good fix but playtests will see. the boomer vomit through zombie is probably the biggest fix at last!
