The Official Left 4 Dead Thread

Of course not, but I can get through it easily enough to want another difficulty. Me and my friend and two AIs can make it through on expert. I think the retail game will be harder though.

I find 2 people and 2 AI's to be easier then 4 People with no AI...

I tend to think that is because I kill the AI and steal their ammo...

Isn't it just 5 more hours for everyone?
Oh it's not being released according to timezones?

I've just been paying attention to EST and I've assumed they were doing it that way because I see these huge lists of times.

If the time were the same in each time zone, you wouldn't need such a huge list. You could just say "midnight, regardless of time zone." :P

I wish I had my 360 version right now :( fucking Amazon shipped it ground so I won't have it until Wednesday.

At least I can play on Steam tonight...

Okay..So i think im about to cave in and buy it on steam....but I still want orange box desperately. Is there anybody from gamestop who knows/ thinks theres the slight minuscule possibility there will be some kind of PC deal?

I'm getting the 360 version tomorrow, but I'll wait for NXE's release to play so I can install it to the harddrive.

Anyways, 5 hours till playing on Steam tonight...

You can get the Valve complete pack from Steam, which will get you everything Half-Life related as well as L4D.

Edit: beaten like a survivor surrounded by the horde

east coasters add edwardthehead

I'm going for a midnight play through.

Couldn't find you jsnake, is that your account name?

Chet from Valve on L4D Expert: "They may think they're able to handle it now but..."

From an interview here: http://majornelson.com/archive/2008...rld-at-war-banjo-kazooie-and-left-4-dead.aspx
Lots of people are playing it on expert and giving it a go, They may think they can handle it now but it's the shortest bit of 1.5 maps they've been able to play, and it'll be interesting to see once they get the full game and really have that full challenge.

Yeah, definitely starting on Advanced with the full game.

So I scanned the last few pages of this thread and didn't see anything about this. Does the 360 version have local split-screen co-op? I checked online and a few sources said yes but none of them seemed reliable. This would be a huge plus considering my roommate and I want to play together.

yes, on and offline, meaning you can bring a guest online

I caved today and traded in my sealed Fallout3 for a left4dead preorder. I realize in this day an age when I want to play so many different games that come out with great ratings, I don't have the timesink to dedicate to just 1 rpg and ignore the other 8 games I bought the past 2 months. I'll pick up fallout if I ever am bored in the summer...

I don't expect to get more then 2 playthroughs on each movie, while probably playing with the A.I. most of the time... But that should be a solid 10+ hours there, and I'm sure I will want to pick up other movies as DLC once they are released ( I may even do co-op with a few key xbl friends as well, who knows...)

I picked up CoD:WaW today to with some trade-ins, so it will be a fun winter by having all three 'horde' type modes with Gears, WaW and Left4Dead...

You can do splitscreen coop with a friend as well, way more fun that way.

Holy crap the finale of No Mercy is difficult. Even on Normal. Once I had a boomer knock me off the minigun roof, into the grasp of a smoker which drug me into the middle of a horde. Another time I died on the helicopter. I blame zombie pilots.

Though I did finally complete the level after all the other human players gave up...

I need 3 brave souls to join me through the Entire campaign tonight.

any takers?

also we will do it on advance so we don't get stuck on any 1 map for too long but still provide a challenge.

Im up for it.

P.S - I guess you can see I caved and got the Game on Steam, pre-loading in screaming fast right now. I should be ready by the time 12 hits.

This game is FUCKING AWESOME!
So hectic and fun at times, especially when you're playing with a sissy partner and he's screaming like a little girl in the mic. :lol :lol :lol

Gonna play on expert too.

And yeah, this game is much harder with 4 human players than 4 AI, mostly because the AI are actually quite good and they don't go running off by themselves as much. :lol

I'll be on Steam tonight. INVITE ME. LET'S DO THIS.

How about, The M.O.B, Myself, You and ZZoram?

edit. Oh wait, we're playing on different difficulties.

Any takers for The M.O.B and myself? (If it's okay with you M.O.B for me to include myself)

Sounds good.

FO3 am crying.

I really need to finish that game and shoot it in the head.

Hit the level cap and fatigue is setting in.

hmm... i was thinking about this myself, i think i'll play it first on advanced.

Shit, I also need to go pick up a headset/mic.

Any good suggestions for something I can get at Best Buy? :lol

Sorry if this has already been asked, but is there any word on whether Valve will be releasing new episodes for L4D?

The demo rocked, but I'm still kinda on the fence about buying the full game right away... if there are going to be TF2-level addons down the line, I'd feel a lot better about paying full price.

On PC, absolutely, on 360, unlikely.

about the boss zombie (Screamer) that was cut from the game
L4D411 said:
The Screamer was a boss zombie who didn't have any actual attacks; he was bound in a straightjacket. You knew when he was around because of his crazed, maniacal cackling. The trick to the Screamer was that if he saw you, you had a moment to kill him before he ran away. Once the Screamer got away from the Survivors to a hiding place, he would emit a loud howling scream that would cause a huge mob of zombies to attack the Survivors. While there were several exciting moments of knowing you had to chase him down to shoot him before he screamed, dodging zombies all the way, ultimately it proved too confusing for Survivors to discover how he worked, or even to reliably notice him in the crowd. He was cut, and his horde-drawing attack eventually evolved into the Boomer attack.

So originally, the Boomer only exploded. They scrapped the Screamer and let the Boomer vomit.

If they offered more campaigns somewhere down the line, that would be amazing :D

PC is getting packs for sure. 360 is going to get them too, but they'll be slightly behind, only as long as it takes to get them certified according to Valve. It's easier to update Left 4 Dead than TF2, since they can release a new movie pack and it'll be significant DLC, whereas TF2 released all it's updates in tiny chunks for each class and it was problematic to introduce content like that on the 360.

KrawlMan said:

I'm sure they'll release at least 1 more movie pack, and users will create their own as well on PC at least.

xKilltheMx said:
I did.
Until I realized all I would play from there is Left 4 Dead and the contents from the Orange box anyway.

Thanks for the suggestion though.
That's still a good deal. And other games are great if you have an old laptop.
