The Official Left 4 Dead Thread

Is there a GAF L4D group at all? I'd like to add some of you so we can play together. First I've gotta get my mic settings correct, however.

This explains why I get TK'd by random folks online all the time... I love playing as Louis :lol

Perhaps I shall start playing as Bill or Zoey now. Come to think of it this problem didn't happen the few games I was Bill...wtf :lol

That's the scenario where I was getting him. I'd turn and think I missed one. But I think I've finally gotten over it.

As for the zombie piles, that's why I try and remember to crouch when I'm in the middle of a zombie horde. I figure if I'm blending in, hopefully they're shooting at heads and I'll avoid fire.

Is there any way to friends everybody in a group en masse? It's hard to remember who I already friended in the Steam GAF-L4D group and clicking on them one by one to check sucks.

I'll be on hoping it releases on time, but I'm not expecting it.
 
I really enjoyed the demo, fun and fast action with great controls, but really the game is only 4 levels? As fun as it was, its just not worth $60 bucks with only 4 levels.

4 movies.. each movie has 5 levels. So 20 total.

No need, just join the Steam Group and you'll be able to see all the members from the group at the very bottom of your friend list (You'll have to click the + next to the group name).

The game is split up into 4 separate campaigns.

Each campaign is split into 5 levels.

The demo is the 1st level and half the 2nd level of the No Mercy campaign.

Methinks you're kind of missing the point, the general playtime for the demo has been more than 10 hours.

No, it's about 1/4th of the first chapter. There are four chapters. Also the game is designed more like a multiplayer (meaning replayablity is key).

Pretty much. That game's meant to be replayed.

..and this is before even getting into the VS.

From the GAF-LFD group, 139 members and 1400 hours of the demo. It's true.
 
The game has been pre-downloaded, and I'm ready to go.

Played my first demo game tonight. Really enjoyed it. I thought it would be a little more...'scary'. I'm glad it's not. It really felt like a bullshit horror movie, which is fucking awesome. It's a really great way to spend 20 minutes. I dont think I could spend too much longer on it!

It's nice that you can just jump in with three randoms and really have a great time. I'm assuming there is voice-chat?

Yes, I can see them all, but I need to have them personally friended for them to show up on the in-game 'friends playing' function, no? The giant list in the groups tab doesn't separate them by their friends status, so I still need to check them individually.

You can still pop up the friend list or the group chat in-game, which will give you access to Gaffers.

Except when too many people join the group (like it is right now), then steam tells you that there are too many people in the group to show it in the friends list, so you'll have then to join the group page to join games...

It's not really that good afterall.. :(

Less than four hours to go until Left 4 Dead goes live at the stroke of midnight (EST) on Steam, and that means the Valve Launch Box will be dragged out of its off-season home in Gabe Newell's tool shed.

What does the Launch Box do? When its keys and levers are turned and pulled in sequence, it emits clouds of dry ice, fires off klaxon noises, and finally, when you press the red button, releases games. And, because it's kept in Gabe Newell's tool shed and nobody ever bothers to check it for bee hives, bees. (If there's one thing that makes those things angrier than klaxon noises, it's dry ice!)

Like the release of the Orange Box this past October, the entire staff will be here tonight to celebrate. Unlike with the Orange Box release, we're hoping, the entire staff will not be attacked by as many bees.

well you can create a group server meaning only people in your group can play with you

You can join games through the group. No need to add everyone.
