The Official Left 4 Dead Thread

A guy on theTeamXbox forum said this is what they said about it:

+Extremely intense action and zombi-killin chaos
+Built to be very replayable
-Can't play Versus on all four campaings; no plot

after the intro I though there was some... what exactly means no plot?

Where is the L4D demo? I thought it was launching with steam cloud this week. Is that tomorrow? I'm cautiously hyped - it looks awesome but I hope my system can run it on max.

How much is the pricing for this game? It's only got a MP component, right? If the demo is good, I'll probably buy it so long as its sub $40.

Some more tidbits from the OXM review:

The Director gives you the Tank role not as often as the other bosses. Makes sense, since this colossus has 40x more health than a survivor and can knock 'em off rooftops.

Zoey is voiced by Jen Taylor (Halo's Cortana)

All killer - No Filler: The story in minimal but atmosphere is rich -- clues form the foundation of a tangible world made clear through written messages, graffiti, quarantine signs, and mundane remnants of civilization.

Countersrike de_dust design philosophy. Why make 50 levels that no one plays; focus on a handful of spectacular maps. That strategy paid off here.

Flawless framerate though some pop-up in split screen. "Flash jaggies" are present: low-res shadow effects from gunfire (nitpick)

You'll play it simple at first, but strategies unfold over time.

L4D's simplicity offers purity of gameplay -- the same reason we returned to those classic arcade games. Simple ingrediants are perfectly prepared. What could be a mere snack becomes a feast. Or in this case, human flesh.

My PC code from GameStop email worked in "Activate a product on Steam". L4D around 2-3GB or something I saw. Sucks... because I'm on shitty internet. :( 70k/s ftl.

15% OH GOD IT'S REALLY HAPPENING

Crap, now I'm going to waste my entire night staring at this little icon.

Doesn't get unlocked for over 12 hours, so relax.

For those who have both 360/PC codes, you could probably start playing the 360 version at 2AM, and then wait until 7am when the PC version unlocks... Double dipping ftw :lol

Shit, I pre-ordered 2 copies for 360 for me and a friend legitimately about a week ago, and no email. We better have it by the time I get home tomorrow!

:(

HELL YEAH PRELOADING RIGHT NOW *fap* *fap*

when the code arrived i immediately tried to unlock L4D with it on steam but it always crashed steam :lol

What? I've restarted steam a few times now. It hasn't been released yet for me...

Steam pricing really sucks for anyone in the UK at the moment, and I hate how they changed the purchasing process, don't find out the final price until you've entered all of your details.

Hmm, why won't my steam start preloading it? It just says "Not yet released", and no amount of clicking will budge it...

edit: spoke too soon, there it goes!

Please don't tell me they've regionalised the prices now. I loved getting Orange box for £23.

Pre Loading is going SLOW
It's a reasonable pace for me. It'll be done by tomorrow morning!

The pre-loading is just for the STEAM people, right?
If you have an early access key from Gamestop/EBgames, copy and paste it to the prompt when you go to Games > Activate a product on Steam. You will be able to preload from there.

ThaiGrocer, dearest of all my friends!

Pre-loading finished! Now it's time for bed. Can't wait for my zombie breakfast! (or lunch for me...whatever!)

No, because of the exchange rate all the games are like £5 more than the standard price. Left 4 Dead is around £34 and Fallout 3 was closer to £38.
