The Official Left 4 Dead Thread

It really doesn't matter. I've gone full tilt with my teammates and just rushed through both levels without losing anyone at all, which is enjoyable, but alarming in that it actually worked. I've also done the hardcore commando thing, making sure everything is covered and double covered and planning each move and all that jazz, and it makes the game snooze-worthy.

I don't know, I actually think the game is difficult so long as you buy into the idea that the game is difficult. If you are overly cautious it seems to spawn more shit on top of you. I've literally just ran through the sewers and told my team to stay with me and a minute later we were at the ammo dump sitting peachy.

Well it is a Valve game. They take a more casual approach to difficulty. The tried to get everything that could get frustrating out of the game. Which is why even expert is tuned in a way that you can't die because of some random zombie/boss/boss combo and tends to be easy as soon you figured everything out. (The mini finale especially i just too easy the third time around)

The question is of course what you expect the game to be and I hope no one expected "the hardest zombie shooter ever" from Valve.

On a different note: Tried the 360 demo compared to the PC version. Seems a bit easier overall. And the jaggies....normally I don't care about stuff like that, but damn it hurts.....

So I have a friend who's trying to dl the demo off of steam and it just refreshes the page.
Is the demo out yet or is something wrong with his computer/steam?

P.S - I hate to beg on the day of release but if you have an extra pc code laying around I can give it to him so we can play with each other, since this is the best day for us to play as we're off from classes :D

Hey - I know this is a little OT for this thread. Snake, my 360 did this exact same thing last week. DVD drive wouldn't close. I would put a disc in, the thing would close, and then pop right back open. Anyway, I fixed this manually in 5 minutes with some super glue. Look up my most recent posts in the RROD thread if you fancy trying to fix it yourself.

I'm excited the demo is being released for everyone today, my roommates will finally be able to join in on the fun. I'm having a blast with L4D so far! Too bad WotLK comes out Thursday.

Will do. That's the same issue, checkin' your fix out now.

Thanks. And many more if it works. :P

I agree with everything you said, but last night I was playing a game where we had a tank spawn on us near the subway cars. Three of us had been knocked down (I think two were dead?) and the last guy had about 50 health left. Then it spawned a boomer, hunter and smoker on him.

First area of the subway level, just after you leave the safehouse.

I've seen that area packed with zombies, we kill every single one of them, drop down, just so a swarm of zombies pours from the open ceiling into our heads and knocks all 4 of us unconscious, just so we have to restart RIGHT THERE.

That's the beauty of the AI in this game. You can't play one or two times and get a overall idea of how the game is going to be.

In the last part of the demo, at the minigun point thing, i've had times when the "swarm" of zombies was just LITERALLY 5 zombies.

Sometimes, two swarm of zombies come at the same time (from the windows ahead and from the upper area above the minigun), and then we use all our molotovs and traps, just so a boomer can show up from where you come from and vomit all over 2 of us. Nice, more swarms of zombies, but now we don't have traps, molotovs or any life left (and two of us can't see shit from the vomit).

The AI director knew it was over, so he decided to just end the round. :P

It is probably the reason why tanks don't spawn so often. He can be a game ender.

ARGH I've been trying the PC demo link like every five minutes and still nothing. It better fucking go up before class so it will be waiting for me before I get back.

Do you have Steam installed? The link works now.

It is in the US, sir. Dont know about other steams.

EDIT: WTF "The steam servers are too busy to process your request at this moment"

Understandable, but still frustrating!!!

EDITv2.0: Ok it definitely is working now. So it is definitely, positively up.

What difficulty did you play on? We're your teammates working together?

The first game I played, the person playing as Zoey always ran ahead, while the person playing a bill always lagged behind. The Francis and I had to split up so we could watch the others and provide backup to the two non-team players. This actually worked ok on normal as I or the Francis were able to provide sufficient help as the other the group would rush to the aid.

downloading the 360 demo for comparison shits and giggles.. anybody want to play?

gt: MJ Doja

edit: nm. 360 version am supremely inferior.

If you haven't already, try stepping up to Advanced or Expert. Shenanigans like that are cut down pretty quick.

I plan on hopping into expert tonight. I was a little disappointed by how easily we survived on normal, so an increase in the challenge will help. I expected to be slaughtered left and right as I haven't been playing PC games in a few years.

Is the game going to keep stats like in TF2? I like seeing that stuff as it loads.
Well it has to for achievements. I'm not sure if you'll be able to look at it in game, but someone will probably release a separate app to view it like TF2.

L4D Normal = Easy in most other games, IMO.

It isn't much of a challenge.

Yeah, I suppose so. I meant easily viewable stats in-game.

Does anybody know what kind of controls the 360 version will have?

I know there is default and Southpaw in the demo. Will Legacy be in the retail version of the game? The reason i'm asking is because I wanna play with my cousin, but he uses Legacy
