The anticipation for a new ST Sonic game I'm feeling cannot be expressed in words except for perhaps this sentence.

I did not realize that. Well, if you are indeed correct, thank goodness. I've been very excited about this one (one more week!) and didn't want another Dimps game...AniHawk said:I thought it's been established that IGN messed up.
drohne said:is it really dimps? do we have a source besides the ign review? that would explain the graphics style. i kind of want rush for the naganuma soundtrack, but i have a hard time believing that a dimps game will be SONIC'S LONG-AWAITED RETURN TO FORM.
Farmboy said:One of 'our' reviewers has played and completed it (and given it 9/10 in our magazine). He claims the end titles list both Sonic Team and Dimps as the developers. It's possible that ST is only listed because they created the characters and concept -- this, unfortunately, is not made clear. What is certain is that Dimps had a hand in Sonic Rush. Nevertheless, our reviewer claims it is Sonic's return to form, and he didn't much care for the Advance versions.
I know, it sounds fantastic.SonicMegaDrive said:I'm listening to samples from the soundtrack right now. God I feel like I'm in an early 90's arcade, with all those hip-hop samples.
Damn, if they make a soundtrack, it is so mine.
I don't believe any Advance title actually had a "Dimps" logo during startup (just Sega then Sonic Team). What does it say when the game starts up. They usually have the developers mentioned. Not to mention it should also have it on the box.

Lizard said:The Sonic Advance trilogy was not a Dimps solo project but a collaboration between Sonic Team and Dimps with Sonic Team staffers holding key positions like art direction and lead designer. In fact Sonic Rush has the same director as the three advance games so it wouldn't suprise me if the entire Sonic Team portion of the advance team also worked on Rush. But hey, maybe this time they got it right?

I did end up asking Craig, and he told me this:dark10x said:I did not realize that. Well, if you are indeed correct, thank goodness. I've been very excited about this one (one more week!) and didn't want another Dimps game...
http://boards.ign.com/Message.aspx?topic=102942520&brd=7585I've known since just after E3 that Dimps was responsible for Sonic Rush. This info is direct from Sega, by the way...not something fabricated. I think it's being downplayed because Sonic Team doesn't want all the publicity towards that team because, well, this might be the best Sonic ever. It's an ego thing.

It's difficult.
Anybody hoping to just hold right and zoom through loops all day is in for a big disappointment.

I have always been loyal to you, I have owned all of your consoles since the Sega Master System. There was one thing that I always had plenty of, that was Sonic the Hedgehog games. Then came the Sega Saturn......and the Dreamcast......and you decided to fuck a stranger in the ass with Sonic 3D Blast and all of these shitty Sonic games with guess what...AS LITTLE SONIC AS POSSIBLE! I mean COME ON A FUCKING FAT CAT WHO FISHES!? A ROBOT WITH THE ABILITY TO LOCk ON TO EVERY ENEMY IN SIGHT#!?@> A BITCH WITH A MALLET!#? Then you decided to go third party....Sonic Heroes......sigh. Then you gave me some hope with your Sonic Advance titles.....BUT YOU GAVE ME THESE DAMN STUPID EXPLORATION LEVELS...AND THAT BITCH WITH THE HAMMER IS STILL HERE!? CHAO!#@??
Then yesterday I took a break from my Mario Kart DS and purchased Sonic Rush....thank you Sega.

I also really like the new 'boost' move that Sonic has that helps keep the action going.
The one thing about this game is that there are so many secrets that I'm just gliding past. I don't wanna slow down to investigate any secrets, when it's so fun to just keep on moving!!!
Oh well, maybe after I beat the game.
BTW, this game has that Genesis feeling, and I love it. It feels almost like Sonic 3 & Knuckles, only with grinding...and faster...and with better music. More impressions to come.
SonicMegaDrive said:A tear in my eye
SONIC RUSH fucking rules!
Has anybody else tried out Blaze? She is a bit different than Sonic after all. Instead of a 'boost' attack she hovers in the air. And her spin dash is different(it's almost like a tornado of fire). I also noticed the game is even HARDER with Blaze(and it's no cake-walk with Sonic either).
Shaheed79 said:Dude, you JUST got through saying the game looks more like a Dimps game and now your claiming it plays like the BEST Sonics eva?! FUCK ME I NEED A DS!
You know what, I think they did that on purpose.SanjuroTsubaki said:But the problem with reviews is she plays too much like Sonic....which is good to me because I dislike playing as anyone BUT Sonic now. Even Tails is starting to piss me off...and don't get me started on Knuckles the treasure hunter.
heavenly said:Has there been a game to top the 1st one on Genesis? For me, it was Sonic 1 and SMWorld all day. All post-Sonic 1 games just didn't measure up to the first one.
Very cool observation! The DS really is reviving classic 2D franchises... In more ways than one.koam said:I was playing Mario Kart yesterday, retro tracks and it was bringing back old memories from the snes days. One thing that came to mind was that, the only commercial I remember for SMK was actually done by sega. "Sega has blast processing, nintendo doesn't" and they showed Sonic versus Mario Kart. The irony, all these years later, a new sonic game comes out at the same time as mario kart and they're both on a nintendo handheld.
Bebpo said:Man the 1st boss is absolutely terrible. Sonic bosses are supposed to die in 3 hits or something, not this long drawn out hit once and wait 10 secs to have a chance to hit again x 8.
I liked the first stage but man the bosses better get good because this guy sucked.
jman2050 said:Have... Have you even PLAYED the Genesis Sonics?
Actually, knowing that bosses take 8 hits to kill again fills me with UNBRIDLED JOY.
Bebpo said:...it's been a while. But I still remember boss fights being less than a minute total on those games. Didn't play any of the GBA games though so...
