I have a dumb question for people that use custom box art. How did you get it printed? Did you just put a rightly-sized piece of regular paper into a color printer? If my color printer sucks, is there somewhere I can take the file to get printed out? Did you use a special kind of paper?

2nd last post on the page(default viewing) by Vertigo_X posts a link for the type of paper he uses.
If you take a look through the thread its quite useful.

stick unmodded?

It's okay to start, but if you think you might want to upgrade later it'd be more economical to get an SE FightStick from Amazon and wear that out and then use a screwdriver to swap the parts out on that later.

Just playing around in training mode and I found something really cool with Fuerte (might be old news but I found it out on my own :D)

Fuerte can absorb the hit of a level 1 or 2 Focus Attack with his EX Run. So far (of the people I've tested), Fuerte can create an inescapable Ultra on anyone that backdashes after a lvl 1/2 FA. Zangief is the only character I've found that is caught regardless of forward dashing or back dashing; everyone else just scoots right under Fuerte during the forward dash.

EX Run > *wait for the hit* > Stop the run > Ultra

And he can also start the RSF on anyone that forward dashes, which stops all "FA > jabs" (even Balrog and Ryu)

Yeah, people have been toying around with EX runs into ultra for a while. Didn't know that in particular though. My favourite has to be this

How is any of that practical lol. The first one is impossible too. Why would you ever Ex run at Gief?:lol :lol Also if you can ex run a whiffed lariat, then you can definitely ultra it on reaction.

GGs. Couldn't remember if you were from here or AZ SRK.

I rarely play Chun and don't think I've ever played against a Sim as her. So I can't really offer any character match-up advice. The only thing I would suggest in general is to mix things up a little more. I was able to easily notice some patterns and take advantage. Like you said, pushing you out when I noticed you were trying to get in ultra range. Or timing your fireball release so I could teleport behind you and get a free combo. Knowing a hazanshu was coming when you'd get to a certain range or I'd block a certain move. Etc...

I think I got your tag few months ago when GAF opened up to a flood of junior members like myself just haven't had the chance to play you until yesterday. Yeah predictability is my biggest weakness right now. Seems like I play in a really linear fashion so opponents can pick up on what I am doing. I know the combos and my mixup options on wakeup but I need help on mixing up the "bigger picture" strategy.

For example in our match yesterday I felt like my only gameplan was to catch a missed fireball with a jump in or hasanshu to score a knockdown and go into my wakeup mixups. If you teleported I was looking to counter with a close roundhouse or jab. Feels like I've hit a wall with Chun and I'm just following some sort of flowchart.

To all you Chun players out there what is your big picture strategy ? I feel like too often I am just reacting to my opponent rather than controlling the match. Characters like Sagat & Guile can control the match with fireball zoning. Rufus' goal is to rush down. Chun has pokes, great normals, good mobility, and some mixup ability - how do you guys put all that together to come up with a strategy to control the match ?

I've been playing this online again semi-regularly in anticipation of SSFIV.

Getting a little frustrated at the input shortcuts, it's really aggravating when you end up pulling off moves you didn't intend at the worst times.
I know, I know, improve your execution, etc; I'm trying my best with the gamepad I've got.
A happy medium would be to be able to turn them off, but I hear that's out of the question for Super, too. :s

GGs on the massive set Lost Fragment.

The Vega matches really reminded me of why I've gotten tired of his SF4 variant. Ugh.

If you want something to put on a bumper sticker, then "Poke. Stuff. Punish." might do the job, but what that means in practice depends on the character she is facing. Generally you're going to be wearing down opponents, shutting down their approaches, and then landing your big damage when they expose themselves, especially when you baited them into doing so.

Expand your toolset as much as possible, which is something I'm still working on myself. Learn what normals are useful for given situations, learn how to use different versions of her special moves, learn how to throw and airthrow, and don't forget (like I did) about her focus attack because a level 1 will give you frame advantage on block.

Also, you shouldn't have to walk forward to get into ultra range, because you can dash ultra across the entire stage. Many people either forget it's possible or assume you're unable to and chuck fireballs at max range thinking they are safe. For some characters like Ryu and his fireball you can catch them at max range without dashing if you do it early enough because they stick out their hands.

The walk forward into ultra range was referring to our Sim-Chun matches. I could be wrong, but I don't think the full screen dash ultra works on Sim if he's using the proper fireball. If I have Chun at full screen I'm probably going to be throwing Sim's LP fireball which is his one non-EX fireball that goes full screen. If Chun does the dash ultra as soon as I throw the fireball she ends up landing right on it and it'll hit her and stop the ultra. Though I think I'll still get smacked with the first kick of the ultra. And if she waits any longer then Sim will have time to block. Like I said, I could be wrong, but I don't think I've ever been hit by a full screen dash ultra.

Just tested it. Not having any issues getting through the fireball at all, but you need to do it before Dhalsim finishes saying "Yoga Fire".

Edit: Ok, found how early it needs to be for the fireball to catch. The window is more than usable, though.

Good to know. I could have been confusing it with the execution error where the Chun won't get the dash and will just scoot forward a tiny bit and do the ultra (I think that's what happens). And maybe some help from lag. :p

Good games to everyone on gaf that I've played in the last few days.

Sorry I couldn't get to you on that invite Kak. For some reason, I can no longer log into my GFW live, which is weird since I can get on XBL just fine.

Any GAF PS3 users here pretty good that I can add to my friends list and play some matches with? It takes me forever to find someone to play online. My PSN name is Mega-Ridley.

Yeah, without the dash to give it distance and a built-in delay it fails pretty badly. :lol

IIRC, that was only pertaining to using said gifs as an avatar.

And those gifs don't total to 11MB...

Backseat modding? And wrongfully at that?

You should probably read this thread.
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=390965

It's funny because even my earliest newbie gifs never approached the size indicated in that thread. :lol Even Evillore's DA thread OP has gifs reaching 10+mb. Biggest I've ever made was 5 something.

Thanks for clarifying Renta. :D

Anyway, these are the rest of them for now. All from the matches I've had.

And they made him a Lord of Cinder. Not for virtue, but for might. Such is a lord, I suppose. But here I ask. Do we have a sodding chance?
I for one love those gifs.

Now if she was cool, she'd make me an AV with, "This one's for JJ."

And I don't see anything wrong with her gifs. You guys have a cute girl in the freakin' SF thread and all you do is chastize her and try to scare her away.

And Finds...I haven't played him in awhile. Sounds like he's a beast with Cammy and Rufus.

So anyone have any tips for using Sagat? He sucks at moving across the screen, but all I do is just FA, rely on my high HP and damage, kara tiger, block strings and go for Hail Mary FADC ULLLLLLLTTTRAAA.

Do you think this is good enough for the Find and AZ Greg matchup?

Is SF4 hosting dead for anyone else on GFWL? Logged in about half an hour ago and it's been nothing but "session creation failed."

Seriously.

As far as I'm concerned, creative projects like her gifs and Maj's screenshots are awesome; using the tools and mechanics of one work of art in order to create other, original works of art. It's totally meat meta.

ninja edit: Whoops. But I think I'll leave it in.

My apologies Kadey. I'm working at the hospital with their wonky computer system and read the KBs wrong. Plus even a 1 MB gif makes these computers cry :lol

I just had a long discussion about SFIV and taught my Med Student the concept of FADCing into Ultra. :D

I am so about to get hammered by 15 admissions.

EDIT: Ah, it's in the youtube links.
