Finally got a PS3 and this game, been playing all weekend with Saks as my main... I kind of suck but whatever, I'm having fun :lol Anyway, I was wondering do any of you have the Madcatz SE stick? Is it worth buying? I can't really afford the TE stick right now and I need one so..... should I get the SE or just save up my money for the TE (or this one that I've been eying:

SE stick is fine. And you can always mod it for relative parity with the TE stick later on.
If you're in the US, I think Fry's Electronics has the TE for $99 now, though.

Marn was actually one of the big reasons why UFO won Stride's "save an arcade" contest
Haha I know Fubar was pimping that shit like nobody's business, and Marn got Wong into pimping it.

Apparently I got a shoutout on the stream after SF4 ended but I missed most of sunday cuz I went out :( Can anyone confirm if they heard ski shoutout henaki?

Gotta thank Jwong for picking Fei Wrong. It was AMAZING to watch Daigo learn the character on the fly. Seriously mindblowing stuff.

If you're looking at money-wise, the most expensive options are

Madcatz TE
HRAP3 (+ modding buttons)
Madcatz (+ modding buttons and stick)

or buy the Madcatz TE from Fry's and do local pickup. It only costs $99. That is a great deal.

Don't buy any of the licensed HRAPs, they have soldered buttons versus quick disconnects. If you're serious about playing, you may wear out the buttons. Unless you know how to solder, then the HRAPs with the disconnect are the wiser choice.

For those who are interested Frame Advantage is posting money matches, they have 3 so far with Vegita-X(guy who beat Daigo in team tourney), vVv Scrub(Evo top 8), and Henry Cen(Sim player who played Daigo in a MM after he Daigo won SF4 Grand Finals). They've been updating recently so there should be plenty more I assume.

I'm not going to reveal any results from what I've seen so far, but I must say I loved watching a high level Zangief run and be chased down by a Ryu player instead of the other way around :lol

They're not laughing at Chris Hu's commentary, they're laughing because they're so happy to be in the presence of greatness. Daigo's skills in the game and Chris's skills on the mic was just too gdlk for these guys to not burst out in random laughter.

Too bad Issei doesn't go home to Japan. He could become the best SF player (even though he's technically a Japanese transplant).

FindMyFarms said:
This is true. Most people think Daigo was/is the best 3s player due to his evo performances. The reality is, the top 3s players in Japan were all way better than Daigo, and Issei was one of those people. He pretty much pioneered the Yun game.

I think it takes a little bit more than being great at 'just' 3S and SF4, to be the best overall SF player. The only ones that are in contention for that title are Daigo, Nuki, and possibly Tokido. Take Daigo. Here's a guy who's been a top player at Super Turbo, Alpha 3, CVS1, CVS2, 3S and SF4. With the exception of ST and 3S, he's arguably been #1 for stretches of periods at those games. Given his winning percentage, and his records against other Japanese top players (case in point: Seth mentioned Daigo beat Mago 23-7 recently), I'd certainly make a case for him at SF4.

Being good at a game is a function of many variables, which include both time and talent. What you're clearly seeing is that the specific games are being dominated by specialists, who are clearly talented and pretty much exclusively play that game (which particularly seems to be the case with ST and 3S). Issei, at this point, can be called a 3S specialist, and it's rather speculative to argue he would do (relatively) just as well in other games. Mago for instance, is awesome at CVS2 and SF4, but never did that well in 3S. BAS seems to dread any game that doesn't involve custom combos. Kokujin was the best Dudley in 3S, but seems to not make as much impact in SF4.

Also, wasn't Nitto the one who pioneered the Yun game? He was the one who (apparently) tutored KO. KO really took Yun to a new level. As good as Issei is, I'd find it a little bit strange to mention him in the same breath as those other two.

(this isn't to knock Issei. It's just people are quick to point out Daigo isn't the best at any game, when the real reason why he's so amazing is that he is a top player at any SF game. Much like Nuki and Tokido in Japan, and Wong and Valle in the US).

Leaving NY doesn't make one stop being a New Yorker. ;)

Also, after watching that match series, I'm thinking of trying Balrog out, never played him seriously and I'm tired of being a scrubby random rainbow ball Blanka player. :D

Nah, being an asshole is something any new yorker will keep no matter where they live. Take it from one!

Dang, Daigo dick riding hardcore for SB4. Someone post up them Cammy/Sanford vs. Daigo vids whenever they're available.

Word on the street in the socal scene is that Jwong and Marn will be moving to SoCal permanently in December. If you check Jwong's twitter, you can tell he ain't none to happy with the vibe in EC. Hopefully he'll help level up all the socal peeps (he'll be closer to Japan too...)

He tried to get Joe to get him to go...

I know Justin's been wanting to this for awhile though. It's not just EC, he hates NYC

I should've put that Issei could be the best U.S. SFIV player if he were to go to Japan, level up and come back.

But generally speaking, in the U.S. Valle (Tekken, SF, etc), Choi (ST, CVS, etc) and Wong are probably the best U.S. fighting-game players in the last decade or so.

In Japan, I don't follow the scene enough but Daigo has been a beast in Vampire, SFA3, TS, ST, Guilty Gear and SFIV (from the top of my head). Those other players you mentioned are great too.

Poongoko, who knows. He got folded when he came here for the Gamestop tournament. His defense was lacking, too flashy. His link/offense game is tight though. Definitely a combo master. I thought he would've came back for Evo and try to redeem himself.

Daigo Money Matches in Room 103
Daigo vs Vegita X(Gief) - 3-0
Daigo vs Floe (Sagat) 5-0
Daigo vs DS (Balrog) 5-0
Daigo vs vvvscrub (5-2)
Daigo vs Sanford(Akuma) 5-1
Daigo vs Andre (Bison) 3-2

Courtesy of Justin Wong (taken from SRK).

Damn, Daigo beasting. Those were most of the top players at the tournament. Andre came the closest. Jibbo, pad viper and Dr. Chaos should've challenged him.

Laugh (I think), beat him for the ticket to go.

Yeah, no one's contending daigo being good overall, I was just pointing out the misconception of his 3rd strike status, which was a good segway to introducing Issei. Nitto and Issei both started the Yun hype train, while KO is the one who's most relevant today. If Issei sticks with sf4 he'll be a beast, I mean the guy got top 16 in his first big name tourney.

I think it has to do more about the learning experience you get from playing him than anything else. I'd gladly pay money to fight him. He'll rape my ass pretty bad for sure but I won't think I lost money since you'll probably learn a few things fighting him.

Chris Hu is so on point with his analysis. Him and S-Kill need to team up.

SSFIV console version needs to have Madden like play by play featuring those two.
