Good shit on Absolute Battle, FMF. Not that you care but some big names are taking notice. Not bad for an 09er. lol. I kid I kid.. :)

We will have to get some games once I get comcast cable. My DSL is so shitty I can barely stand to play online anymore. :(

Also, dunno if I already posted this but I've been uploading a bunch of matches from NorCal Regionals. Here is one I just uploaded, Combofiend vs FilipinoChamp from the 5 on 5. It's a pretty good one.

Oooh thaanks... Now I am gonna bitch about performance!

IC2D 1.86GHz
Radeon 4870
Game set to 1600x1200 all to highest, 2X AA, 4X AF...
FPS to fixed, not variable.

And I am hovering around 50FPS. Hell in the casino level it fell to 30FPS. The benchmark does show the game running at 60FPS perfectly, but in-game is different. Even on arcade mode, so it wasn't my opponent.

WTF?

Check SRK. There's a trainer that can unlock everything. Google search should work also. Just run it once ,verify it works, then delete.

EDIT: Nah it's not the CPU. It isn't even maxed out.

Try turning off parallel rendering. I have no idea what it does but it boosted the FPS on my laptop a good bit. You should probably turn the shadows down a bit too.

I know it seems odd to SOME people, but you could also try turning down some of the FSAA and AF just a bit. It's not like the game is ugly at that resolution without them or something.

Those videos were awesome FindMyFarms. That gief thing where he tripped you up with the green palm fadc ultra was crazy. CRAZY!

Watching SF4 is very entertaining. Playing online, not so much. I can't wait for the tournament videos for ssf4. Well if the new characters are good enough for high level play.

@Farms

Thank you thank you thank you!! I finally found someone to teach me the patience of Rog.

Never thinking of just jumping or standing punches for defense against some of the most obvious stuff....

Played against a decent Vega last night of which I pretty much owned the entirety of the matches by jumping fierce against his walls. :lol Needless to say he was getting ticked.

It's funny too forgetting some of the easier fadc's from his hurricane punches into dash-throws and how that really gets to people. I'm still working on the headbutt fadc to ultra (I think I remember that being a chain) but boy... given me some hope. :D

It's just headbutt > Ultra.

No FADC'ing required, man.

Headbutt ultra is hold up back to maintain a charge during the headbutt then perform the ultra when you land. It's pretty easy once you get in the habit of holding up back. I don't use Rog, but that's pretty much a BnB thing.

And in high-level play (from viewing videos/streams from the last week), Viper, Akuma and Rufus are more offensive-minded characters while Ryu, Sagat, Boxer seem to middle ground or defensive (except for PR Boxer). Sagat is ridiculous...

I faced a guy/woman on XBL named Joser5 last night. Straight up the best Dictator I ever faced online. He hit every damn link, FADC, etc. The awesomeness was just a pleasure to see even though he tore me a new one every round. He also had a beastly Fuerte. He did RSF on me from one side of the screen to the other end. :lol

My poor Rog. :-(

Sagat is my best matchup, I eat that sonbitch up for breakfast.

Unless it's a beastly Sagat

I just played a crazy guile. Playing against these type of insanely good people is just wrong. I really wish there was a lobby system where you could pick rank, and such like socom. I would either get people that just started playing and don't have the game installed, or crazy no mistakes/come to me and dodge my stream of traps/punish everything people.

Edit: I really want to saw my analog stick off. They really need to allow us to disable the left analog. My character randomly walk forward, jump up, or jump forward when I play. Maybe I should super glue the saturn pad's d-pad again. grrr

Wow, that's great! BTW, any tips using honda against balrog/guile? Thanks in advance!

Honda vs Guile- it's a really frustrating matchup- you either get owned, or you get in and win. Guile has a real hard time keeping you out if you're in his face. Past that, he has a real easy time. Jump ins can get airthrown easily. I use jumping jab and short a lot in the air to try and stuff, along with jump strong (you will eventually have to jump over booms)

Try to save for super in the matchup, as that will blow through the boom and get in his face, and hit if you're perfect on timing and close enough, but just being in his face is worth half life in the matchup. Guile can't really hurt you quickly, so you can take a few risks, it's just frustrating. Keep your head. (I rate this 4-6)

Balrog-it's real hard for either of you to come back on the other, but Balrog has it a bit easier in coming back, so it's slight adv Rog. (I think 4-6 at worst for Honda, more likely 5-5). Don't strong or fierce headbutt ever, punishable on block. Jab HB punishable by super. Buttslams can be cleaned out easily also. You want to wait attacks out of rog, or get in close and pretend you're Gief without a lariat.

Yeah, my issues are with turtling guiles/balrogs. I HAVE to rush cause they will keep pressing back and do nothing(in guile's case, sonic boom all the match). Specifically guile: I try to jump over sonic booms, he can air throw me or c.HP me because of the sonic boom' sick recovery. I try to headbutt, sonic boom to my head. I try to butt slam any time, c.HP to my butt. I get close, can't special grab anything cause he will jump awayany tick oicho attempt. It's hell, really.

Against balrog it's a similar story but instead of sonic booms it's jab punch rush, c.HP and that damn c.LP that stuffs even EX headbutts. Balrog is somewhat easier to me but it depends on how much does the oponent knows about Honda. It's hell again, only colder.

I was rooting for Grifter in that match.

He's definitely great with a bunch of characters (Ryu, Viper, Akuma, Cammy, Dan, Sagat, etc) but not a master of any.

I'd say Flash Metroid = Best Viper
Justin Wong = Best Rufus
Chris Ryu = Best Ryu*
Long Island Joe = Best Sagat*
Eduardo Perez = Best Boxer*

Marn, Sanford, Combofiend and a few others are great with multiple characters.

I'm not even great with one :(

Did DSP participate in the tournament? I heard people goading him on but never saw a match.

All this character talk reminds me, he was doing money matches as your choice of Rose or Dan. :lol

DSP was there, but I didn't hear him get called up later in the tourney.

If the Rog spams jab, get in your standing fierce range and whack em one every now and then to keep him honest. EX headbutts I mostly use to counter EX rushes, I don't use that many specials vs Balrog.

If they jump your ticks, fierce or HHS to keep em honest, depending on how they react. Fierces hit backdashes, which are more common then jumpouts. You can also do nothing, then jab headbutt em on way down if it's a vertical jump (diagonal jumps have startup, oichio at +3 should work)

So while speaking of Rog (and thanks to the guys above for the advice..)

What is a man to do in a Rog vs. Guile match?

I got my ass handed to me about 4 different times today on Guiles throwing SB's all machine and any and all jump in's punished with FK or Ex-FK.

Ex-slam would open up for 2-4 hits depending on his position but nothing more than that would land. I'd end most of the matches only hitting him down to about 1/2 health if that.

Did completely screw over a Gouken and Akuma today by simply zoning them with jumping FP > jabs.

Also--- Are Sagat players wising up and not spamming Tiger shots all match? 6 Sagat players I played today didn't use them until the end of the match. Weird....

Rog spams jab on close quarters. Standing fierce range is way less than his c.HK, which he uses wisely(remember we're talking about a specific Rog). He doesn't telegraph his rushes, and barely goes for resets, just bnbs. I have tried what you said, but I get one chance every 4 matches to try that.

Thanks again for the tips. Seriously thinking about switching just to take on those two bad matchups.

Run Guile into a corner by any means possble.

Safe jump knockdowns and beat out throw attempts with c.jab.

Make sure to keep block pressure up until you are all the way out of range so he can't just jump over you.

Oh and it's pretty obvious, but s.mp or c.hp when he tries to jump out. Don't get greedy on the reset, he'll flash kick that to kingdom come. Though baiting it is a good idea.

I fixed my FPS problems by setting the game frame rate to variable instead of fixed. Did wonders.

Also... I haven't lost a single match :lol PC People are baaad =P. Also, sad to see few people play the game online. So hard to get a match with good connection .

Been happening more and more lately on the PS3 as well. Seems with the bevy of games out, some people (for the better...) are leaving SF4 for a season.

I'm sure SuperSF4 will fix that tho.

Good games, sorry about some delays, the wife was bugging me... Nice empty/kara demons!

GGs! Glad to play a really good Honda.

It's cool, the lag was a tad frustrating cuz I try to AA butt splashes and jump over headbutts offline but I was adjusting. The main thing was lag making me teleport late and eat huge Honda combos. Those hurt!
