I'm going to be real honest, I don't know if I can justify a PS4 for one game right now.
I didn't say the gameplay has aged, did I? I said Gears is a product of it's time - and as you so clearly point out, people expect different things and they demand new gameplay experiences. It is true that good gameplay is good gameplay, but if products today simply strip that from earlier design with pretty visuals, it's not going to cut it.
This is why the next Uncharted will have to innovate otherwise it will be criticised for being 'more of the same'. This is why people are sick of Assassin's Creed, and Ubisoft's sandbox design. If a new Gear was to release it would have to re-invent itself somewhat, for the same reasons.
Kotaku said:The Order is a barely competent third-person shooter. It repackages the cover-based shootouts of Gears of War and Uncharted without managing to capture any of the artificial intelligence quirks and level design tricks that made those games so reactive and exciting. When it comes time to shoot dudes, you're pushed into a small arena with next to no space for lateral movement. You'll crouch behind cover. Then, you'll simply pop up and take down target-dummy enemies as they lean into view.
Why do people think Bloodborne is gonna make up for this steaming shit? That game could suck also.
Don't forget Little big planet 3 issues and reviews.
Well I'm still excited to pick up my Premium Edition of The Order 1886 tomorrow. What, I'm suppose to change my mind based off some stranger's opinion? Nope. I'm way too much of an independent thinker to allow that madness to occur.
Drive Club absolutely bombed in the US and Japan and sold ok-ish in europe.
I think Destiny would be a better example.
What? DriveClub sold over a million copies world wide... None of us know the target number for any of these games so we cannot say if they bombed or not.
So it's like Ryse all over again.
Based on the current leaderboard, where a couple of my PSN friends are in the beginning stages, it has probably gone over 1 million, even with multiple accounts on the same system.
So...
It has been stated by Ready at Dawn CEO Ru Weerasuriya that The Order: 1886 has been in active development since 2010
5 fucking years for this?
greatness? what greatness? for being such a high profile game, this is misery.
Like someone has mentioned ITT, Sony needs to reevaluate how they greenlight games.
Shame on you RAD.
And no, I'm not an Internet bully. Your game is shit. As simple as that.
Me cancelling my Amazon order before it could ship

I have absolutely zero idea what Uncharted 4 or Naughty Dog has to do with any of this.
and neither do you tbh.
Haha, bravo.A $100 steak cooked well-done...
What will Angry Joe say to all this?
They've only ever worked on PSP titles or ports, I guess it's not a huge surprise that they floundered on a flagship console titleI'm glad I was on the fence TBH. I may get it when it hits half price or the bargain bin. Ready at Dawn seem like fantastic developers but hopefully this can spur them to create a really good game next time around.
Gears of War was a product of it's time - that kind of gameplay just won't cut it anymore.
different tastes man. I'm just not ready to dismiss The Order 1886 as crap, based on what a reviewer (several reviewers) says. I'll judge it for myself, once I play it tomorrow. Still, what I've seen of the game thus far, I like. Call me crazy, but I love cinematic story driven games. I can respect other who don't like them, but I just so happen to love them.
So it's like Ryse all over again.
What is really too bad is that I really didn't mind the game at E3. The combat was alright but I didn't think it was terrible. That demo is what sold me on it, but they apparently didn't execute a good product. Ugh, why couldn't this game have been great?
Yes, amazing expansion! Can't get enough of the new modes, protector co-op is a blast!
Whoops.....
That's... That's what reviews are? No one is antagonizing them?Still, as funny as it is making fun of fanboys , it's critics laughing at the expense of creators.
RAD is getting lambasted for a misguided although artistically brilliant game, having their efforts antagonized (4/10) while lesser games get comparatively given a free pass.
It doesn't seem fair.
Until Dawn will get 1's and 2's then.
These are going to be solid games.Welp next up Bloodborne and mlb 15 the show
I jumped straight to acceptance.
Driveclub is actually a phenomenal game, one of the best racing titles of the last decade, and many critics just outright got it wrong and I could articulate why that was point by point. They were mad lazy reviewing Driveclub. It deserved to be critiqued for the online functionality issues, but other than that the foundation and content in-game was amazing for the simcade genre.
This doesn't seem to be a similar issue. There really does just seem to be like a profoundly mediocre product underneath all that pomp. Naughty Dog definitely has a competitor for most technically competent developer now, but at what cost did that come? Maybe the next Order will be as great a leap in quality as Uncharted 2 was to Uncharted 1.

Greatness awaits...
...and awaits, and a-waits and a waits...
Edit: I know this post adds nothing to the conversation, maybe a smile or two. But this is 30+ pages already so I think it's okay to toss a little extra noise in the mix.
nah, i doubt that, 8-9s mostly for bloodborne imho
and not this is not a fanboy opinion, don't have a ps4 and never played a souls game, just feels like a game reviewers will like
Reviewers aren't really about that imo. Bloodborne's been very up-front about what it's trying to be and if it accomplishes those goals it should do fine.
PS4 has noGames
Everything has to be fetch quests and open world, throw in a half assed rpg system and you got this gens AAA game.
