I think that the "millennial" humor they're trying to do in the trailers is actively repulsing people now. It's not just that it is bad and unfunny, but it's not in style.

People want earnestness. it's one reason why CO33 is such a big hit. If the ugly idiot self-inserts in your shitty game won't take it seriously why should I.

Avowed was totally fine. Not the best party members ever but its a great game.

WTF. "And no you can't sleep with them." Who asked? Jesus...what is happening to Obsidian...

I liked the first Outer Worlds...but this doubling down on this woke shit is...look it not even like I mind there being LGBT characters in the game...it's just how blatant it is. Like it's an attack on the traditional audience that got them to where they are at in the first place.

Does it seem petty that I am seriously considering not playing this game simply because of the messaging in this trailer?

I thought avowed had absolutely amazing environmental art and audio, truly top notch. But the janky Bethesda formula but more limited plus cringe companions with generic dnd campaign story archs are just ugh. Idk what I think about obsidian right now. These games aren't bad, they have a lot of good qualities genuinely, but the writing is so inoffensively boring.

What do they have in the pipeline after this? Nothing that we know of. We knew they were working on the sequel after the first game, and we knew they were working on Avowed years ago. Unless they get tasked with a quick turn around remaster or port (like, say, Fallout New Vegas), anything they have is in pre-pre-production.

Avowed reviewed well but sold poorly.
TOW2 will probably also review well but sell poorly.

The question then becomes do they manage to get enough GP Ultimate subscriptions out of it to justify keeping Obsidian around. I won't be surprised if the answer turns out to be a resounding no.

They genuinely don't believe that, by-and-large, people can't stand the kind of characters their focus groups and projections told them would expand their potential player base because "Gen Z loves that shit."

They are convinced, despite all signs to the contrary, that they're on the right path in terms of game design, character design, storytelling, etc.

All that, but Ninja theory farted out HB2 in the time that they did Grounded, Grounded 2, Avowed, Outworlds, Outworlds 2 and Pentiment.

I know who i'd be firing.
 
Honestly if the gameplay and shooting is good I'll play this.

Dialogue? Lol who reads this shit nowadays. Just use the volume slider.

Companions sure do look very unpleasant but you could solo it but you will probably miss quests/achievements and obviously the game will get harder.

Eh, I got the first one very cheap and I'll just wait for this to touch that 75-80% off price.

I mean it's ok, there's a lot worse stuff imo.
