"We're focused on bringing players incredible worlds to explore, and will keep our full priced holiday releases, including The Outer Worlds 2, at $69.99 – in line with current market conditions," an Xbox spokesperson explained in a statement to Windows Central.

Glad they walked it back but damage is already done in that all the pricing talk has distracted from the game.

First game was ok. Promising in some areas but boring at times. I'd pay full price for this if it ends up improving and being really good. Better main/side quests please.

Lol at the backtrack. I mean I can get the $80 pricing for a flagship title like COD or the next Forza Horizon, but for The Outer Worlds 2? Laughable that they even thought that it would work.

O bless our merciful gods descending from the heavens to lower the price of admission for us poor peasants down to a measly 70 bucks.

Truly we are not worthy of such grace.

I honestly don't know how any games are going to really get away with it. I don't think I'd even buy Zelda for that. Mario Kart is definitely not worth $80. Not sure it's even worth $70.

If Donkey Kong was $80 I would have waited, and it's insanely good. Game companies are delusional if they think there's really not going to be a downside to just raising the price again.

I know it's titled as a remaster but Oblivion Remastered was at $50 on launch.

That's what the base of this game should cost. Most of your playerbase played the first through gamepass so they paid $0-$15 I guess? Just an endless effort to push games out to die/underperform.

Obsidian preparing for that sweet "mild success" 🥲

70 dollars still sound 50 dollars too pricey if the first one is anything to go by.
Yeah, should be like $50 title. Not many people will spend $70 on Outer Worlds 2 considering how Outer Worlds 1 and Avowed turned out ((Mild at best).

I was thinking about this just now, and i m 110% sure that at least 90% of Nintendo fan base would be fine with a U$150 next Zelda game.

I doubt that. Nintendo's been the more affordable option forever. The deal was that the prices were usually fair, but didn't have deep discounts. AA games, variable pricing, $30 3DS games even. There's really no precedent for them leading on price hikes.

Those preorder figures must be low as fuck. Was a very dumb call to make this $80 because it really pushed people off it from what I've seen.

They should actually price it at $60 if they want this franchise to really take off. $70 MSRP really harmed the sales prospects of AAA titles this gen. If you have a good game just launch at $60 and discount your games much slower. You don't need to Ubisoft it and go to %70 off within 12 months.

I'm pretty confident that outside a handful of games, raising the price to 80$ will cripple game sales. Pre-orders had to be disastrous for TOW2. 50$ games have been crushing it this year(Exedition 33, Split Fiction, Oblivion Remake). I wonder why
