Get!

I'm being a right noob about this whole acquiring prints business, but how do I get me some of those fine ass SW posters by Olly Moss in the OP?

I've been navigating his website like a blind man.

Those are long sold out, unfortunately. The secondary market is the only place to go for them ...and it'll cost a few thousand dollars to get a set. In fact, most everything in the second post is sold out -- not just Moss' stuff.

If you want to avoid the secondary market, the only way you'll be able to get the posters is when they first go on sale -- or catch the rebound when the artist proofs go on sale.

my poster shipped earlier today. came to post when I got the email but forgot. woot.

Which poster?

This is genuinely sad news to hear :(

Thanks for the heads up though!

Anything Olly puts out is snapped up and instant valuable at this point. Hes pretty much the biggest of pop artists and getting one of his prints is pure luck or just alot of money. The only easy work of his to get was when he recently sold those small pokemon prints for a set period of time, and most people who wanted them could get them as long as they went online at a specific time. Usually the prints are limited and sold out in less than 2-5 minutes.

That's too messed up. Damn why can't he just mass produce those SW one's :(

Because that would kill the market value. If you're really desperate, you can always just print out the low res, low dpi images that are floating online and get 'em on the wall with thumbtacks!

:p

Making too many devalues the art, so lot of the low print runs are intentional. Also many of these posters are made for special events or under a limited license agreement that only allows for a small print run or short period of sale. These artists can't get the license to sell this art for a known IP for a long period of time, so it's the other reason why these things are kept rare. And for event made stuff, it's usually done as a promotional piece which they can do on a small basis but not for mass production and sale without involving paying royalties or aquiring an expensive license.

I understand the concept of the value, I was just venting a bit of frustration. I really did like them.

Oh well, time to see if I can get my hands on something else, I only just found this thread, and been browsing at work has proven to be a bit slow.

I actually prefer the regular CABIN poster, which I already have.

Rubik's references are more original than Escher.

Did you go to the screening last night then? The movie does look pretty cool, but I'll probably wait for Netflix. Harry has been so busy with his show that he hasn't done any free screenings in fucking forever.. thought for sure he'd host one for this.

sold out. as usual; the site is spazzy - didn't get nothing this time

I'll be watching cabin because its rated R. should have some good violence

No, I have had too many trips recently and will be in TX for Frightmare, so I decided to be semi-responsible.

I am fairly confident I have the flick figured out. I hope I am wrong.

Ohh, the regular Cabin poster meaning the official one and not the regular/variant Mondo version. Gotcha.

Regarding the movie itself, it certainly seems like an interesting concept.. it comes across as like a government experiment or something due to the tech but the "operators" in the trailer look way too out there to be government guys. I'm sure it will keep people guessing.

It is no doubt a comment on how directors scare audiences. Not exactly sure of the plot mechanics, but it's probably along the lines of what you suggest.

That Thing print looks really cool.

Speaking of The Thing, did anyone else here end up ordering one of those prints from Englert? He's keeping people up to date in his thread on EB and they're looking damn good.

Got my second Mondo poster, and got it framed (#40/375 !):

Very nice! I picked up Hugo second hand since I was out of the country when it dropped.. got a nice deal on it. Had to buy it to go with my A Trip to the Moon print that I snagged at the gallery opening. I have a backlog of like 10 posters to get framed once I have more money.. who knows when that will happen. I guess buying new ones isn't helping!

These are going to be a 24 hour sale from what is being said on FB?

Really like em, though the 38" length is annoying for framing. Might go for the set of 6 though
