So yea that's not what happened. Especially the part about me me supposedly saying that there's no point in discussing violence in games. That's not what I said and you know it. I stated the intention behind suddenly bringing up video game violence in such a thread, (i.e., one focused on fetishization of women), and how it wasn't a genuine attempt to actually discuss violence in the context of this medium. And at the same time I had straight up addressed the fact that video game violence is in fact getting toned down at the same time. Nor did I call anyone a pedophile but rather blatantly pointed out the creepy tone of the game's threads.
And no, I didn't contact Besada, who also didn't threatened you at all. But rather called out your thought policing argument.
So yea you aren't some victim of a draconian community or moderation. Nice try tho.
Here's me praising the amount of work that went into the ultimate ninja series, as well as dedicating a thread to the improvements to animation in BOTW. Also gone on record stating multiple times that one of my main inspirations for becoming an animator was Ueda. Nice try tho.
That was...an attempt. I remember that thread, it got ugly fast. It also wasn't the best way to handle what was happening. I mean I understood why people got banned but after a point there should have been some kind of concession by EL over what was going on.
All the same, what he did in there wasn't really the kind of reining in I wanted to see a site Administrator do. He clearly was trying to say something, but the way he was trying to say it or enforce it was pretty bad.
Yeah there was that and it felt half-hearted. There needed to be a big moderator review maybe. I feel like some mods were many times harmful but didn't get any reprimand because they were big personalities on the forum. Deification of the mods is really a bad way to go about things.
Again though this isn't the way I would have wanted things fixed. Especially not because a sexual abuse incident spread like wildfire across the internet about the Administrator and the reaction to it was heavy-handed as fuck.

I think that's what happened, although I don't think there was anything he could say that would make a difference.
From the point the story leaked certain people had already made their mind up based purely on his previous history, or the fact that some people genuinely believe no one would lie about sexual harassment/assault. When the truth is that while there are"evil" people who commit these offences, there are equally "evil" people that lie about having been victim to these offences.
I also personally don't believe that someone's past is necessarily a guarantee of future offences.
My own personal opinion is that he mis-read signals, she really didn't want it because she had a boyfriend, but wasn't left traumatised. Later on they started dating casually, it ended badly (for reasons we don't know) and she decided to make the facebook post as a way to get back at him.
Two things I wasn't keen on was firstly the fact she had any further contact with Evilore after the events that apparently left her traumatised, and secondly the way she casually posted who the alleged perpetrator was. After literally saying she couldn't say who he was, just 2 minutes later she then said "Fuck it, google Evilore"
I don't know man now is the time to defend yourself. I mean if you're going to mention this incident what better time than now to clarify it? I'm not sure what happened but if there's a context that would make you comfortable then give it. Otherwise I don't know why bring it up if you won't explain and clarify.

So, what is the state of NeoGAF? All I can see is the more likable / progressive posters leaving en masse. You then have this silent group coming up and starting to lay the foundation to normalize their views by believing themselves to be victims of oppression. They clearly don't care about context or believe that their words carried harmful weight. You got all the key terms like, "safe place", "SFW", "wrong-think", "witch hunts", "disagreement bans". Like, they clearly only care about getting back at them damn SJWs *shakes fist in the air* and not dissent because avenues for dissent are being removed entirely. Is this the current and future state? That sucks. Maybe Evilore can stabilize things but at the moment the gamergaters are taking root and they're being pretty blatant about it. This site was always about so much more than video games to me. It felt like this site had a community of experts on everything. For discussions of music, movies, fashion, politics, hockey, camera equipment, dating, mental health, etc - Gaf has been my home since 2013.
I adored the liberal tilt of the OT community, and actually learned quite a bit about life because of this site's influence. This felt like an all inclusive group unlike anything id seen on the internet before. I got most of my news from here, both gaming and non. It pains me to see the community fall apart as it has. I'm not sure what to do really. No other forum has come close.

I read through that thread and your ban seems to have nothing at all to do with CrossingEden and everything to do with Besada. It is not clear where you were banned and if it was for that post but the context of the posts are clear. Besada had a strong opinion on the matter and wanted you to make a bannable comment. Most of the people complaining about bans are full of shit, and your story kinda was too, but being banned for that seems unfair I would agree.
