What time is the "Pachter Says Nintendo Is Doomed, WiiU pricing too cheap" news today?
This Saturday, May 5 Noon PT, Wedbush Securities Analyst Michael Pachter addresses why Nintendo has not yet released any of the hardware specs for the Wii U and if it means it’s not ready to compete with the current generation of consoles. He also predicts when the Wii U be released, as games like “Assassin’s Creed III” are already slated for October 30th 2012. Plus, what’s does Pachter think about Google Glasses? Pachter puts his thinking tie on this week to deliver the answers everyone wants to know!
So, in about 4,93 hours.

you've probably explained this already, but why would Nintendo bother to mention it can run 1080p native? u think they're only saying that because the plan to run 1st party titles at that res? or that plus 3rd parties later on?

Because it can. Like the PS3, and the Xbox 360. The dashboard will probably run at 1080p, and you'll probably get the odd game that runs at 1080p too. But a vast majority of games wont.

It could be PR talk, it could be a mix of PR talk + the fact that the system is REALLY capable of a 1080p output technically (hell, it should even support 3D, but it's not because of this that the games will have a 3D with glasses mode), etc etc. And i think this "1080 box checked" was an answer to a question.

We will have 1080p games, but it seems the main bulk of the Wii U library will run at 720p.

Nintendo tends to have smaller projects focused on Art Styles that would be helped by higher res textures

even looking at Epic Yarn made me shake my head at what they could have done with an HD Wii

well it's good to know Nintendo gets caught up in the graphics BS hype.

I don't see the point you were trying to make, though. You don't honestly think all games on the next Microsoft or Sony consoles will run at or just under 1080p, do you?

"a game much more epic than Starcraft 2" :D

but i would love to try a Mario RTS ! With micro-management of your toads & koopa & mario bloda & whatever armies !!!!

I still want a Mario & Luigi RPG on a console, those are great, full of charm, and would work great with the sub-screen.

No, but why not market it as 1080p regardless? It's a tech and marketing term. It technically outputs at 1080p. And it sounds flashy.

Yep, 1080p is the flashy thing to say at the start of next-gen just like just plain old HD was 6-7 years ago. Nintendo couldn't fib about the Wii being HD back then, but saying the Wii U does 1080p even if only a few games truly are is fine, so take advantage.

Stop resisting.
Upad will persevere in the end.

No one seemed to like my WiiU stafox ideas. :(
Left 4 Dead type coop multiplayer. Work together to get through a level, yet there are incentives to let your friends get killed off. Tons of medals, achievements. Game is short so it can be beaten in one sitting with friends. Yet there are tons of branching paths with different story elements, levels, areas, etc encouraging multiple throughways.

Lots of arwing customizing as you progress both through the levels and the games.
If you get killed off or severe damage, you lose these custom parts and components for the subsequent levels.

I'm looking forward multi, multiplayer dogfights online.

Well that's his typical style, and its very fair since it stops people from trying to dig. I mean look at what happened with Matt the other day. He's dropped some hints in other threads as well about the WiiU. Like there not being a name change for example. I also think he was hinting at something involving zombies coming to the platform recently but maybe I misread his post.

This is true and I've used it before for the same reason.

I don't see why the console's sensor bar would go off at all... it's just a couple lights. They send and receive no information what so ever. Just leave it on, heck more design options that way.

Of course it doesn't. But in my thinking I don't want to be moving my character while I'm trying to select something on the controller and I don't to see the cursor constantly moving on the controller while I'm playing.

Sony threw '1080p' around quite a bit in the lead-up to this gen.

I'm getting the feeling the "We need more hardware" thing is gonna be the reason why we don't see some games on the Wii U but I hope I'm just over reacting.

Expanding on the silver motif, how would you guys and gals like it if nintendo shifted from the white looking hardware and general designs to this:

Honestly, now that i'm looking at it, i think i prefer white lol.
But there you have it.

So what is this Star Fox Wii U stuff I just read about? Where did this rumor originally spring up?

I didn't really pay attention to where it came from, but I believe it is false.

Could you do a black version?

getting that brush metal APPLE vibe from those mock-ups shudder

just give me a shiny plastic black please

Nintendo should go ALL BLACK black cases, black game discs (looking like old records)

Oh, but of course. Which is part of tne reason why I think we'll see significantly better third-party support in the first half of the generation compared to the second half. Once the PS720 launch, party time is over.

"Not enough hardware" will be right up there with "we can't compete with Nintendo games," even if Nintendo brings out hardware that can technically receive downports.

I wish Nintendo consoles would have more splashes of red to be honest. Like having the logo red. And a cool strip of black like the SNES and NES running along it would make the system being shiny white PERFECTLY acceptable.

A little trailer about Ghost Recon Online Wii U, already seen last year but maybe overlooked

It shows rather well the refreshing gameplay applications thanks to the padlet.
Yeah remember that. Always found weird a few things:
-Voice chat been alluded without needing a headset (expected since the controller has a mic).
-And a few aspects of the touch-pad been "acted" as if it was a capacitive screen (flipping pages with a finger on a resistive screen is not "that fast").

Flame red 3DS surely is as red as it can get. Love that intense color <3
