The Witcher 3 | Review Thread

Well, Jeff's on record sayinh he doesn't like this series and that he's waiting for the Cyberpunk, so I'm not surprised he didn't like it.

Jeff loves lots of stuff.

It's okay if he doesn't enjoy the same titles as you.

Really.

It's alright.

I don't even know if I like Witcher 3. If anything my few comments on the game were about me worrying why my excitement levels were so low for it.

Just tired of Jeff's attitude towards everything not wrestling.

Edit sorry I was replying to an older post. Just saw thread title!!! =D

Honestly, I really didn't think this game would live up to the hype. Very pleasantly surprised that it has. Now to find time to beat the first two and pick this up eventually!

Didn't they say there will be no (or barely any) fetch quests because they hate fetch quests? Reviews are saying it has many fetch quests...

As far as I remember, they said they hated the meaningless fetch quests. They also said that fetch quests will be in the game but each will have some sort of a backstory or surprise in them to keep them fresh, entertaining and rewarding.

Its impossible to make a RPG without fetch quests.

One of the most bewildering posts I've ever read on GAF.

Any word on whether or not we can use our W2 saves for this game?

you can import W2 saves over but I cant find anything on what it actually does, none of the reviews seem to mention it because they got PS4 copies

lol

Did you read the thread title?

Really excited for this. Always wanted to play this series but my PC sucks. Will be playing this baby on PS4 sometime next week, glad to see the stellar reviews.

Interesting how many outlets are calling the story well written and then IGN says there's a lot of fetch quests. Who's right or wrong? Maybe the fetch quests are well masked under quality storytelling?

I want this now.

I'm not reviewing it, but am strongly considering purchasing it despite the fact that I didn't get into The Witcher II like I wanted to. These reviews are making it tough to say no.

Ugh-oh. Amazing reviews, and 1 million preorders is great news, my congrats to CD Projekt Red, but... My hype is like 0 right now. I was very hyped year ago, but now, after all those promotional videos and positive reviews, i'm feel literally nothing about TW3. Last game i was really hyped before release date was Bioshock Infinite, and it's still hurts (damn you Ken Levine for my broken hopes). Sorry for pessimistic notes, it's just one week until release, and it's not good that game is already so overhyped, IMO

I didn't care for The Witcher 2 after playing for a dozen hours. It just wasn't a world that I enjoyed being in. Does The Witcher 3 have anything that might reel me back in?

PC has import function for TW2 saves.

On consoles your only choice is questionnaire of sorts. PC has this too on top of import as choices.

Oh yes that was it. I forgot their wording, but it makes sense now. Thanks.

People should learn not to listen to developers tell you how good their game is. Look at the size of the game world and the reported playtime. Of course it is packed with fetch quests.

You can reduce almost any RPG quest to "fetch quest" if you want. In the case of The Witcher you're generally going to fetch a monster's head or something. What makes this series good is that everything along the way is a lot more interesting than in other RPGs. So while the bare skeleton of the quest is still "go there, get this," the places, characters, and enemies you encounter all have a lot more character and don't really feel repetitive.

Obviously I haven't played this game, but I've played the previous two and based on the review scores I'm confident it'll feel the same.

Hopefully he can justify giving it a perfect score with no criticism.

From what I read of GamesRadar and Kotaku, it seems to be a fun game with a lackluster end. Will be fun to pick up when I get back from vacation.
Also the framerate seems to be unstable on PS4.

Well doesn't the game have three different major endings with each ~ 12 world states? I can't imagine they replayed the game 3x (~300 hours) in such short time.

So does anyone want to take any bets on the Polygon score? 6, 7?

Well judging by the fact that Metro had this to say in their review:

The mean streak of misogyny from the earlier games is gone (you actually control a female character now, in a few linear story sections) but there’s still an element of try-hard machismo about the whole setting, especially in Geralt’s absurdly gravelly video game hero voice.

So yeah who knows.

Probably Triss related if I had to guess. Haven't gotten far in TW2 to know what might be a possible factor later on however.

And that obviously changed thread title shows I missed the party.

Wow. Was not expecting such rave reviews.

Anyone recommend which platform to pick this game up on? Thinking about PS4... I assume there is a bit of a graphical variance but that doesn't really bother me.

Have a Xbone and Ps4 BTW

I've not been able to read a lot of the reviews yet but did any of them suggest more carrying weight for Garalt? I've been playing 2 and I'm constantly getting over encumbered.

Glad its reviewed well. My pre-order at BestBuy with the steelbook is intact. Probably wont get to play it until the summer. With House Of Wolves dropping the same day and ESO a few weeks later.

Waiting on the ItsGWC review.

I have to know how much ambaan there is in the game and if its better than that game where you play as the inqurrur.

i'm at work, but what is the consensus on the stutters present on all witcher 3 xbone footage? the reasoning behind it was that it wasn't the final build so i wasn't really concerned at all. what about now? they're not really dips they're more like stutters.

anyone? thread is moving too fast.

I believe one of the previews/leaks said you could carry more, but I can't remember what the limit is exactly now.
