Which item are you missing? Check the Alchemy section of the menu to see which components you need for crafting.

I'm missing the Dwarven Spirit. Is there a merchant, relatively early game, which sells it? I have checked with the merchants that show up on my map in the first two unlocked areas, but no dice.

How's the PS4 version after the patch?
Got it for PC but it's not running very well on my 6950.
Don't really mind graphics all too much, all I care about is that it' stable and without a lot of slowdowns.

About the merchant in the cage bug, has it been fixed yet ??

Which one?

I have three different ones bugged!

One near the hanged man tree in Velen, the merchant is near the Redanian checkpoint but I can't trade with him
Second it was an elf that it was supposed to go to a scoie'tel group but he never reached it.
Third was a mechant in a big bandit area, I can't free him because the bandit leader never dropped the key.

Dwarven Spirit is easily the most common alcoholic substance you can find in the game. If you don't find it at regular merchants or at the smith, leg it to the windmill and loot the crates there. I am pretty sure you will find at least one unit of it.

It is also highly likely (though I don't know this by heart lol) that Bram, the merchant you save from the griffin in the beginning sells you this item for a low price. You will find him between the inn and the bridge leading into White Orchard.

It is common loot and easy to find. When you're traveling be sure to stop and loot the camp sites / tents and cabins in each village. I've got over 60 in my inventory, that and alcoholest are the most common.

Loving the game but staying out of this thread because I have a tendency to click spoiler tagged things.

I might have encountered a bug and was wondering if anyone have across something similar: At this moment I have 2 quests where the marker just points to the nearest Fast Travel point. And then nothing. Is this a known bug?

The quests are

Main: Echoes of the Past '
Meet yennefer at the site of the magic catalysm
'
Side: Black Pearl '
Meet Nidas near the collapsed bridge to the east of Arinbjorn.
'

If this is a known bug, any way to fix it?

Those two quests might be in a different region than the one you're currently in. Check the quest notes to see if that's the case. For instance, if I'm in White Orchard and there's a quest in Velen, the arrow will point me to a travel point so I can get to Velen.

Also, I continue to be enamored by this game. Only level 8, but I have enjoyed nearly every single thing I've played so far. I can't think of a game that has pulled me in so deeply as this one. Easily my GOTY and my favorite of all time.

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
I hope all the gear DLC is sold by that one guy in White Orchard and the final DLC turns him into a post-game boss.

That Nilfgaardian doublet looks very nice. This game really needs "slimmer" looking armor. Having worn the Griffin breast for most of my current game time, I am sick and tired of its green wallpaper pattern.

Oh, that might be it then. Thanks, I will look into it.

Uhm close combat with signs

The feline armor gives you bonus attack, the griffin boosts your sign intensity, and the ursine armor gives you bonus adrenaline. So like I said, depends on your style of play and what skills you have invested in.

That damn Jenny O’ The Woods contract, I think it’s level 10, tried at 7 and got my ass handed to me. Tried again at 10 and still having a tough go, I don’t have the Specter Oil formula, so may get that before trying again, also casting yrden but still getting close but just can’t get her before she takes me down. Up until I ran into her, no issues with any other creatures 4-5 levels above me.

Yeah, every now and then the game has these weird difficulty spikes with some enemies. Nekkers fuck my shit up for some reason. I tend to not take quests until I'm at least 1 or 2 levels above the recommended. Especially because I'm playing on Blood and Broken Bones.

I had a tough time with that contract too. The trick is to hit the wraith inside the perimeter of the Yrden trap. She is most vulnerable there. So just place it and keep the trap between you and her. Once she enters it, give here your best combo with the sword and jump away when she gets pushed outside the trap by the blows because that's when she counter-attacks. Also try to kill the doubles fast so she doesn't regen too much health when she casts that spell of hers.

Alternate Yrden helps a lot. Also, get weapon and armor bonus from the village nearby before you fight.

Posting these again for PC players.

Enhanced Starting Armour

Many consider the starting armour to be the best looking in the game. Later amour sets have a clownish appearance, or are wide around the gut making Geralt appear overweight, or simply don't look as badass as the Wolf set. Here's a solution until a true transmog option becomes available.

-

There's been another mod created that follows the same trend as the original ESA and allows you to transmog the starting armour skin onto Feline and Bear armours.

The original is here, this allows you to enhance the original starting armour at intervals. For example, the chest piece:

Level 2 - Armour 45
Level 6 - Armour 60
Level 11 - Armour 90
Level 17 - Armour 120

It also adds two rune slots.

At level 31 you can transmog the skin onto the Master Griffin set.

The updated mod is here and it allows the same to be done for the Feline and Bear sets.

Instant Cast Signs on DS40

Using Inputmapper, here's a very easy to follow guide on setting up the program with a set of simple macros to allow for instant casting on a DS4. Not tried it using a 360 pad, but I'm sure it can be done with the same program.

Scroll down the first post past the Ds4windows guide to see the Inputmapper set up. Any questions feel free to ask.

I struggled with that one too, i'd just done a Lvl 16 quest and I was 13 with no problem at all so I decided to have another go at Jenny and I still struggled but managed to get her down, I used the trap a lot, spectre oil and got the weapons bonus from the village, she is certainly a weird difficulty spike.

I'm new to The Witcher universe, I dont get those skill points. Leveling up seems to have a big impact I just dont want to fck up.

I'm investing into fast (points 4/5) and strong(points 3/5) attacts and on IGNI (points 2/3), ivested one point into Axxi (points 1/3) to have more conversation options.

Other skills I havent touched and I want to know if that is a bad thing or a good thing. Im lever 7 btw.

Try using Inputmapper in the link above, may as well set up instant cast as well while you're at it. Amazing QoL improvement!

You can buy a respect potion later from various vendors, don't worry about messing up. Experiment and see what you prefer. When you grab a respec potion later, save the game before using it so you can try a few builds out.

Talking about that first merchant you met and saved from the griffin with the fabolus hairstyle that half the men of this game have?

You can commit to a certain armor and fighting style, basically electing to get a bonus whenever you use a full set of either light, medium or heavy armor.

You will find these skills in the General section.

Well, leveling is not final so there's nothing to fuck up. There is a respec potion you can buy in Novigrad if you decide you've spent points in the wrong tree. Don't worry, you'll get the hang of it. I think I was pretty confused when I was level 7 also :) Just give it time, enjoy the game, spend some time in the world, and it'll all come to you.

Just did this.

Use a Tawny Owl potion to regen stamina faster.

Yrden and Alt Yrden are very useful. If you only have the level 1 trap then keep it up as much as you can. I'd recommend at least 1 point in Yrden to gain the +5 second to trap duration, too useful for wraith battles and group battles in general to pass up.

Stay inside the Yrden.
Cast Quen in between traps.
Let her come to you.
She'll execute a lunge attack.
Two fast strikes then dodge back a few times (no rolls, uses stamina)
Repeat

During the summon phase, use the Alt Yrden to take out the level 1 Wraiths. If no alt then trap and hit them with quick attacks.

Just be patient, her lunge attack will deplete around 1/3 Vit at your current level but it's very easy to dodge if you pay attention.

Anyone else have issues moving between Novigrad and Velen or vice versa? Sometimes it won't let me so I have to go to the palace then my original destination.

welp, sorry for the stealth edit
im using DS4windows,,

thanks ! im checking it out rite now..

Crossbow DLC sound cool, but I can't use them anymore since my game stays stuck in slow motion so it's basically worthless for me.

Anyone else encounter this bug? It seems it affects everything that causes slowmo (horse combat, bombs, crossbow) and it's really annoying. The only fix I've found is reloading the game.

uh-oh. Just had my first occurrence of a green quest not giving exp: the level 12 quest "Blood Ties", completed when level 16.

Looking forward to the next patch more than ever now.
