I can honestly say that this is the first game in a long time that is worth every penny.

Just so much content. Can't imagine what other publishers would have done with their hands on it.

Only around 20 hrs in myself.

[-------------ACT 1: Search for Ciri-------------] [--------ACT 2---------] [-------ACT 3-------]

I thought the whole game was looking for Ciri. And I'm more than 50 hours in.

There are different decks that you can see by pressing lb/rb it's probably there but just in your monster deck.

Or it could be a leader card.

Well FUCK this game, just had my first quest-breaking glitch. And not just any little quest, but Ghosts of the Past.
Letho's
horse is stuck in a damn tree after killing the bandits, and now he just rides in place like a damn idiot. I've reloaded different checkpoints before this point, and it still happens every time. What the fuck now? I know it's not a main quest, but I REALLY want to see where this quest line goes.

CDPR: When you aren't good enough at AI and pathfinding to make sure stupid shit like this doesn't happen, you fucking code some error correction so that entire quest lines don't break. Fuck.

(I'm loving the game. But this has made me furious.)

Searching for Ciri is Act 1? Oh jeez.

Do new side-quests pop up in Act 2 and 3?

Act 2 I don't believe so, act 2 is pretty linear but gives you time to finish up side quests from Act 1. Act 3 introduces some new quest lines, provided you did the first parts in Act 1.

Sucks :/

As great as this game is and as much content as it has, its still pretty shoddy when it comes to glitches and controls.

Yep. Luckily I had a manual save from right before I started the quest line, so I guess I'll go back to that point and hope things go differently...

I have a question regarding all the junk I'm picking up - you know, bits of meat, alchemy and crafting things, books etc. Even with no main items in my inventory, I'm still using 25/90 encumbrance, so I presume this is all those little items adding up.

What do I do about it? Should I sell loads of stuff, and how do I know what to get rid of?

I'm level 15 so this applies up to and around there.

Get bigger saddlebags. The rugged ones are sold or found in a few places throughout Velen and an early Novigrad main quest let's you into an area with a merchant that sells a set of saddlebags that takes you up to 160 inventory space.

Only keep a couple of steel swords and a couple of silver swords. Early on you keep finding new swords frequently so you don't need to be overly sentimental.

You don't need massive stocks of alchemy ingredients.
keep the rare ores and things like dark steel plate cos they're more expensive to buy back. Things like Drowner brains can usually be collected quickly by hanging about near water and you don't normally need more than one or two items to create a potion until you get to some of the Superior versions.

Stockpile Alcohest and Dwarven Spirit and get used to using Swallow to heal and then meditating to replenish potions rather than storing lots of food AND alcohol. I have probably 300+ units of alcohol, you can find it everywhere and I'm still finding more than I'm actually using. There's an Alchemist living to the east of the river surrounding Novigrad that sells enhanced Swallow.

Animal hides tend to get you a lot of money but they weight a lot. Sell them quickly.

Make sure you read ALL books, letters and maps before you sell them because some of them open or advance quests. Merchants do seem to keep hold of them so you can always buy them back if you aren't sure. You can sell the Contract letters - they have no bearing on whether you complete the Contract or not.

Man, this game loves to push the Yennifer/Geralt pairing huh? I have this strange feeling that even though I
romanced Triss
, it's not gonna matter at all. Geralt is still clearly
in love with Yennifer. Pretty annoying too as I don't like her at all.
If Geralt was actually making the choice he would choose Yen 10/10

He broke up with Triss in the 1st place after 2 because she failed to mention his girlfriend / life partner / wife or whatever you want to call it. Triss took advantage of him while he was weak (Amnesia).

Lol no you don't get the character at all. They broke it off between 2 and 3. He's with Yen in the books he simply broke off a relationship that wasn't official.

Hahah, YES! That perfectly planned long slide down from the mountain where you find some Bear gear, leading straight into an unmarked cave. This game, man.

Though not a fan of how they made me kill the poor troll trio with digestive problems. They were just trying to figure out what to do with that rotten onion!

Daaaaamn was not aware of Act 1. Just finished main story in Skellige last night and I'm 70 hours in. I am meticulously doing all side quests, treasure hunts, question marks, and witcher contracts though. I never play games to this degree but Witcher 3 is something special.

Dont sell stuff except for unused armors that you can sell or dismantle. Everything else dismantle because you might need it eventually, and you should never get close to filling your inventory with the max saddlebags. I have every alchemy ingredient ive ever picked up, 3 sets of armor in my inventory, a few sets of swords and I'm still sitting at 60/160.

Might as well ask this here. Is it worth replaying TW2 if you only played 1 of the routes? Like how different are they, and do they have any effects on TW3? Was thinking about doing the route I didn't do then replaying the 3rd game, if it makes a difference.

Does Witcher gear scale with level? I sold my serpentine sword since it was worse than something I found but now when I see it in the crafting menu it is better.... Weird.

They are quite different but it really depends on how fresh TW2 is in your mind. I replayed it just before TW3 came out and I wasnt fresh on TW story, so this time I ended up doing Iorveth's campaign and it felt completely new and fresh. It was pretty cool to see the different sides of the battlefield and having completely separate quests for an entire act.

Are you sure its not an enhanced version? For all witcher gear you find the normal sets, then upgrade them to enhanced and then again to superior or mastercraft. You need the previous version to make the next tier. I don't think it scales (someone can correct me if I'm wrong), but some of the DLC armors do.

The other route is completely different. A couple of shared side quests I think and one quest or two but really they are very different. It's kind of amazing.

Edit: but the effect on W3 doesn't seem to be all that.

Eh maybe I won't then. I replayed Iorveth's before TW3 because I was familiar with it. I never played Roche's because a lot of what I read seemed to prefer Iorveth's, and I only played it twice.

If anything maybe watch it on Youtube. I wouldn't go back if I were you as I thought Iorveths was much much better than Roche's.

(Late Game Spoliers) When I've just started the
Final Preparations
mission, how close to the end of the main story am I?

Did everyone overlevel pass the suggested level of the main quests? I'm level 20 while the suggested level for the main quest is 13.

I'm worried that aside from the higher level sidequests/hunts, I'll end up tearing through the main story quests.

Been playing this today. It was my reward for killing Ebrietas in Bloodborne :D Just two quick questions

1. I understand White Orchard is the starting zone - am I expected to clear everything here before moving on, or could I just go straight to the Yennefer thread and skip most of here?

2. I've already hit a quest where I have to kill a monster.I have to find a herbalist apparently to make some oils. I take it I just wander round the village to find them? Or do they unlock later in game?

Wait, aren't there separate setting for both of them? Bloom and Light Shafts?

There are, but turning off Bloom affects the light shafts. I had bloom off for the entirety of my playthrough (I really, really hate bloom) when it suddenly dawned on me: I've never seen a light shaft in the game. Turned bloom back on and bam, there they were.

Get outta town, that's one of the best visual features. Best sun I've seen in a game. It can get annoying when it's that strong but that happens like once every 40 hours of play.

man, I've had it happen a lot more than that. A decent percentage of the times I've mediated have just been to get to a dimmer time of day.

There is. It's called Bloom.
Gets rid of the fugly dirty lens effect as well.

The downside: no more light shafts.

I should have been more clear: I wish the there was a toggle for it on PS4. You lucky PC players with your options.

I have a question : can I romance Triss if I reject her at Novigrad ?

This game is awesome, but these loading times...

I just did Redania's Most Wanted.
The quest text suggests something about bringing the crystal to a Sorceress, but Triss and Keira have both long departed. Is there still something I may do to resolve this, or have I missed out on a bunch of stuff?

Currently polling second in Australia's federal election (first in the Gold Coast), this feral may one day be your Bogan King.
I wouldn't get caught up on the acts too much. Act two and three will fly by in comparison. Without spoiling it's basically structured like:

  • Prologue: White Orchard
  • Act 1: Three "Search for Ciri" objectives aimed at introducing you to Velen, Novigrad, and Skellige and key characters found within. Varying lengths for each of these quests (Skellige variant with Yen is quite short).
  • Act 2: Core objective with optional related objectives that relate to characters met in Act 1 culminating with an obvious climax.
  • Act 3: Final stretch of mandatory objectives that can be tackled in any order culminating with the endgame climax.

As said, most people will spend majority of their game time in Act 1 as being introduced to the three regions goes hand in hand with doing a ton of side quests as well. Additionally, the part in Act 2 related to characters ties into side quests that you may have already completed come Act 1. Act 1 mandatory stuff feels by far the longest, supplemented by all the optional additional work you'll likely do. Act 2 varies in length depending on how much you want to do, and what you already did in Act 1. Act 3 is more focused and easy to flow through.

The game never specifies acts, mind you. But yeah. You will probably do most of your playing in Act 1. But depending on what you do or want to do Act 2 and 3 can still go on for some time. I mean, it did take me ~144 hours to do basically everything.

Any word on why the add-ons that are supposed to be released this week haven't shown up on the European PSN Store yet?

Not there. :( I've searched all decks, cards in and out of the decks, etc. I can't remember its name but you get it along with the Roche card off a kid player. It's infuriating.

Unless it's something I've never come across, and I've played a lot of GWENT, you only get one card per player. Not two.

Guess I'm further along than I thought. Just heading to [act 2/3?]
the Isle of Mists
. Game gave me a 'critical point in the storyline' warning.
