Have maybe 10 hours into this game now. Maybe more.
Really high quality game that's clearly meeting the developer's goals. I have nothing but respect for what the game is. With that said, I'm not sure it's exactly what I want. I think the major problem that I'm having is that there feels like there's a lot of "downtime," whether that be drawn out exposition, inventory management, weighing crafting/alchemy/whatever, or searching an area with my Witcher sense. (it seems like I've been hitting a lot of these scenarios) I think what I'd enjoy more is if the game were more streamlined so I can keep moving forward with exploration. I hate to say it, but I think I've become prisoner to Bethesda games.
Again, Witcher 3 is clearly awesome. It's a benchmark for detail in an open world setting and there was clearly a lot of love put into the development of this game. Hell, even the combat system, while far from perfect, is better than I expected going in. I'll keep forging on to see if it can hook me and I'm confident that at least a few quest designs will blow me away, but thus far it's looking like this will be my first and last Witcher game.
Playing on PC by the way. Gorgeous game.
