In the Leshen quest in Skellige, the one that involves a trophy...
if I chose to help the old man and was locked out of the trophy because of it, is there a way to go back to the village later and kill the Leshen
to get the trophy.

Cause if there isn't, that is some complete bullshit.

Looking back I think Possession might have been my favorite side quest in the game. It genuinely surprised me not once but twice, and had a darkness to it both psychological and physical.

Plus I love me some Cerys.

I did that option too and didn't get a trophy, very annoying as you've still completed the quest, I only realised there was a trophy for that until it was too late to go back and redo it.

Is anyone else getting a bugged quest that you can't start? In Skellege there's this guy that's sitting down with a yellow ! on the map, but when you talk to him all he says is "Fine, fine" over and over. It's kinda funny, but I want to complete the quest.

Is there any weight to the notion that gameplay time isn't bugged but is dependent on what area of the game you're currently in? Like, I was at over 30 hours in Velen, but when I ventured into Novigrad, it reset and I'm now at around 15 hours.

Yeah, I get it for gameplay romance whatever game reasons but the wish itself only
draws them together. They've both slept with other people along the way and it isn't unreasonable to say they genuinely love each other by the time the game rolls around. The wish doesn't entail that at all.

It would have been super difficult to convey the sense of history between Yen and G
And even if the wish had something to do with their feelings,
the way they worded it made no sense. If he really wished to "always be together with her," then they should be going to ask the Djinn for a refund, because that it clearly never came true.

There are a lot of funny moments in this game, but I laughed out loud when I was riding through the woods and Geralt said "Calm down, Roach, they're just bees". Don't know why but I loved that little line.

Sapkowski himself said that Geralt's wish was "to be always with Yennefer" so take that to him.

The wish wasn't really ambigous in the book.
He wished for their fate to be linked together.
.
I did the quest a couple weeks back, but iirc it wasn't contradicting this.

Sorta ridiculous in a game where the developers give you free choice then chastise you for making your own decision.

Absolutely correct, my understanding would be that you get the trophy for completing the contract and regardless of the outcome the contract was still completed.

I'm not overly bothered about trophies but it would have been nice to get one when it's due and if I was on a platinum run I would have been really hacked off!

So I used a wonky no-clip to get up here, but I have nooo idea how you'd do it normally.

There's actually lootable stuff on that boat.

This place is breathtaking. I was amazed by the view when I got there

None of the passives in these trees work unless I throw them into the slots on the right side?

There's a few exceptions, there are 4 skills (shown with borders around them) that do not need to be plugged into a slot to be active: In the sign tree under Aard there's the alternate AoE circle version you don't need slotted to be used. In the alchemy tree there's 3 on the left side that are the same way, but I forget what they do exactly.

Everything else is active, i.e. you gotta put them into slots to use them.

Lol. I should have been paying attention during those tutorials. God damn.

I wouldn't worry about it, I only found out after watching a video early on where the guy was wondering why the Sun and Stars one wasn't working and he realised it had to be put on on the right!

It's closer to Tsee-ree.
Polish "C" is a hard sound, equivalent to German "z" in "zeit."
But is that really relevant? Just because Sapkowski is polish doesn't mean he intended for the names to be, just like Gandalf isn't a british name just because Tolkien was...

Can any poles tell us how famous this franchise is in Poland? All the reporting about the game says it's like the most popular thing ever, but I'm not sure I believe that. Like does even someone's mom know what it is or is it just popular with fantasy fans?

You didn't actually
kill the leshen and chose to allow a superstitious old fool to keep sacrificing children for no good reason...
Do you really deserve a trophy?

most likely by design, are you sure it's really bugged?

e.g. You can't draw a torrential rain card if there isn't one left in your deck
You can't draw a card from a discard pile if it's empty

etc.

Yep. I had all three weather cards and I can't use the leader's card at all. I click on it and nothing happens; I tried using space, enter and left mouse button but nothing is happening. It used to function properly until recently. I will try to change it or play another faction once I get enough unit cards.

Universally popular, as in even our moms know about it. Show a white-haired dude with a sword to anyone and they will know it's "that Witcher guy, right?", if nothing else.

Does the opposing leader have the ability to negate your leader card? Because that's a thing.

I can't use it at all; I played at least three opponents who had different card factions. And I just tried it against an inn keeper who used his leader's ability (look at three of your opponent's cards).

This is a bug; I've been playing Gwent a lot and this started happening recently after the update or after completing a quest.

I mean did you have it in the weather card in your hand, or is it left in your remaining deck? In the first case it's not supposed to work.
There's also a leader card to cancel leader cards. Else it's the first time I heard about this glitch, and can't help you.

During that quest they:
Spelled out Geralt's wish in the most simplistic, nonsensical way, even though it was always meant to remain ambiguous.
Had you cutting through a Djinn with a sword.
Let you rewrite the original short story with a poorly-worded dialogue choice.

Yep. Simply amazing.

Polish letter c is pronounced like /t̪͡s̪/, so we pronounce her name like tsee-ree.

Appreciated, fellas.

Wow, that is one terribly negative interpretation if I ever saw one, glad I don't share it.
I did not find anything nonsensical about it, the wish was always pretty clear, and in fact that was one of my few niggles with the saga that Yen never addressed it. I love that CDP did it and in such beautiful way too. They did not rewrite anything, they gave it a logical and beautiful conclusion.
But hey, feel free to disagree. Opinions!

I can't play my leader's card for some reason. This new update is stupid; it brought more issues than fixing some.

If it's a weather card ability then got you'll have to have at least 1 of those cards in your deck. There's also the possibility you're playing against the Nilfgaard leader that cancels leader abilities.

You're absolutely right, but now we can tell what the author intended these names to sound like since the people behind the Polish audiobook actually managed to get Sapkowski to cooperate and provide them with a pronunciation guide.
Which, funnily enough, made the English dub of the games appear more accurate in some spots.

As far as I can tell, it was popular in hardcore fantasy nerd circles, but that's about it. The laughable movie/TV series didn't help to validate it in the eyes of the public, but it did give it some recognition (for better or worse) and the franchise didn't really explode until CD Projekt started doing its thing. It's still very much a thing for genre enthusiasts.

As far as Polish fantasy goes, I'd say it's the most famous probably. We have a bunch of better or worse fantasy writers out there, but if there's one who might be known by moms and gets a mainstream, widely advertised movie adaptation (regardless of that adaptation's horrid quality) it's Sapkowski.
My mom knows the books and read at least some of them for what it's worth (while I didn't :p), but she's a real bookworm so it means very little in the big picture.

But the Witcher's popularity definitely did explode with the games' releases, particularly 2 and 3. Even the main news release on TV talked about them.

Holy shit. You seriously mean I have like dozens of hours of storyline left? Halfway maybe?

Yeah, if you just completed Ugly Baby then you are around halfway through the main story. Maybe 3/4ths of the way through the total content if you've been keeping up on side quests. After this the main plot takes off at a breakneck pace so you won't get another natural opportunity to wander around for a little while.

Applesauce

Boom! Bitch-slapped!
Roche's deck is weak as hell so naturally I pull the weakest cards possible and barely lose. I just need him and that dickhead Elf merchant with unlimited scorch cards before moving on to Skellige.

Yeah. The baron, the bog, the crones, Keira herself, Fyke Isle, Johnny and so on will remain the best part of the game.

The best fanservice bit is everything surrounding Battle for
Kaer Morhen
, IMO. From
getting drunk to bringing Ciri home to that walk through the keep with your full crew sharpening their weapons and greeting you along the way.
Not exactly touching writing, per se, but pretty charming and very fun.

Yeah, the battle of
Kaer Morhen
is so good.

Just got to Skellige after 70+ hours. Resolved most loose ends in Velen and Novigrad so no guilt saying goodbye for now.

Holy shit that intro part (
getting raided by pirates, total shipwreck
) was just so awesome. Not anything that groundbreaking but just such a perfect introduction to this crapsack hell-hole of raiders and uncivilized brutes. They knew what I wanted and delivered.

Also the water is soooo deep here. Really unsettling. I was hoping it would be since most of Velen was just lakes and shallow harbors.

Yeah, I've done lots of side quests actually, but there's still a good deal to mess around with. Guess I'll just play my ass off for the next week and see what happens. Woe is me!
